  1. Hell, I do other people's wrenching too. Just not a lot lately...

I will always attempt to tackle the job myself. Very rarely do I fail. I enjoy pushing the limits of what I know, just out of my comfort zone, then looking back at it and wonder why I thought it would be so hard.

That being said, I've had a few jobs that turned out to be complete clusterfucks as I ran into multiple challenges on what I thought would be a 2 hour job. THANKS AUDI!

P.S. I sold that headache a year ago today!

  2. I don't mean to discourage him in any way, but I must share my paradigm.

I have been working in Golf Clubs, and around the golf industry for 25 years. Looking at the big picture, he will be competing with companies such as Nike, Adidas, Nicklaus, Under Armour, et al in a already fiercely competitive market.

He's gonna need a least one of the 3 following things:

Some unique way the product sets itself apart from the bazillions of others.

    A logo and/or tie-in with universal appeal.

An aggressive, expensive, or extremely unique marketing program to compete with the bazillions of others with multi-million dollar budgets.

...and the last thing to realize is that even a low price may no be a selling point. Anyone can go to Marshalls or TJMaxx and pick up Nike Dryweave or Adidas ClimiLite polos for $14.99.

  3. Designed and built mine 9 years ago.

DO GET A PERMIT! If you have pissed your neighbors off at any time, not having a permit opens the door for payback. My jackass neighbor acroos the street had been harrassing me for parking (legally) on the street in front of her house. She would leave nasty notes and even emptied her vacuum bag on my hood.

Years later, she had a local unlicensed handyman knowingly building her a deck without a permit. I waited until the decking was finished, but not the railings, and called the city. He had to dismantle and dig up the entire structure and start again, at her expense. Payback is a bitch.

P.S. CHICKS DIG MY BIG DECK!

  4. I need a few more bodies to work the Memorial Tournament!

    You must be:

Available to work this coming Weds - Sunday (June 3rd -7th) with no conflict. Some shifts are as early as 6:00am, some ending close to midnight.

No visible tattoos in short sleeve shirt(men or women). Clean shaven(men or women), tasteful mustache or goatee acceptable(men please). If you have to ask whether it is acceptable, it's probably not.

You will be overlooking the 18th hole and working as a:

Buffet person (stocking and keeping buffets clean)

Busser/Runner (clearing and setting tables, aiding wait staff)

If you have some service or bar experience you may be a server/bartender in one of the exclusive sky suites, or working ala carte in the dining room in the evenings.

Pay is $8.50 per hour, plus tip opportunity.

If you bust-ass, you may find yourself employed by the club.

This is open to any and all members of CR and their immediate families. Please do not forward this to friends.

PM me if you fit the bill!

  5. Dad was USAF Commander of Logistics stationed at Wright Patt., and also worked for Battelle for 8 years. Father in law is a retired research Scientist for Battelle. I've heard countless stories about the correlation, and also other wild stuff they were developing from the 50's to the 90's.
  6. Mike you should replace that with a Bloodgood Japanese Maple. It would go well with that colors you have going on.

Actually that's a seven+ year old Japanese Maple on the corner of the garage, below the coach light. This year, for the first time, it's broken the 15 inch tall mark. My horticulturist at work is working with me on some new plants.

There are now 2 rose bushes, along with the Sedum, Lavender, and other shit in the pic I can't remember the names of.

  7. Very nicely done!! So many of the people in my gheyborhood try this without putting a base down and leveling. They all look like ass.

I did mine seven years ago. Over 130 linear feet. I really don't EVAR wanna do it again!

Sorry for the shitty early spring cell pic too!

Yes, my weeping cherry focal point took a dump last year thanks to some fungus.

  8. I've got a 3.2 accumulative average after getting a 2.0 for most of this year. Yeah, I know, I'm a fucking genius. I scored a 25 on my ACT, will have played sports for my entire HS career, and my two businesses will help me.

A 3.2 average and a 25 ACT score would most likely not even get you into a top tier Public University. Your skin/hair color won't help you much either!

Hope you don't have your sights set that high?

  9. Okay, dumb non-boost guy question, why does the boost drop off some up top? Those are really sweet numbers for a 3.0.

    A few SIMPLE scenarios:

    Boost leak (doubtful)

Turbo(s) can't flow enough (shouldn't be an issue in this case)

    Wastegate spring unable to hold

Electronic Boost Controller settings not dialed in (actuator isn't reacting fast enough to keep curve flat)

  10. Psht, all of you guys had it easy. Try taking a stress test while in one. Its literally, and physically impossible to sleep when there's artificial adrenaline pumping into your IV to spike your heart rate. Needless to say I was in head first down to my waste and my heart was pounding the whole time while listening to the morning zoo.

I dont know what drug they used to calm me down but that almost made me vomit immediatly. Worst medical test of my life.

The one I described earlier WAS a full blown stress test, Barium IV and all. I had to carry a radioactive notice card for 3 days in case I went to an airport or set off an alarm. Passed with flying colors!

  11. My Job:

    Wages frozen

    Lost 401k match (4%)

    No Bonuses

    Longer hours

    My department:

Laid off all hourly employees Jan-April

Up 132% in sales for first 1/3 of year over same period last year

Hourly Labor reduced by 62% to date

    Wife:

Laid off in October with 8 weeks severence

Employed in February at 20% less
