XBR3 = 1080i plasma FTW.
Same tv as xbr2 but you get 6 mo extra warranty and a shiney bezel for your extra $$$ (and its 1080p:))

I'm liking these XJRs and XJ12s....on paper. I know the 98+ XJRs have $10,000 exploding Mercedes transmissions, and I know what "Vanden Plas" means, but thats about it. I'm looking for more info or possible forums that will have the info.....anyone?
I'd settle for the right XJ6 or 8, but my primary concern is reliability.
Did someone say reliability and Jaguar in the same sentence? there was a period in the eighties when they really went to pot,bringing them stateside with all the emissions did not help,the newer stuff may be decent but I would trust a Bimmer or 300E Merc or even a lux Jap brand before going for Jaguar.
edit Vanden plas is a "posher" version of a standard trim.

Does he know what the failure with the motor is?
The V8 swap would yeild a relatively high hp motor/low cost option,and Matt (Tinman) has sussed it out pretty well.
A 13b rebuilt motor with turbo/fuel/porting and supporting mods will yeild big power but will cost double.If you could own it really cheap it would be a fun project.

Yes that is a protective WAX applied by the factory,let me guess its all around the engine bay?

We could probably all chip in with parts for your front end,I have a stock hood,with all the fd owners you could get most of the raw materials you would need if indeed it is feasable to repair the car.
