  1. I haven't taken a math course in which ^ was used....what's it mean? As for wind stress, I just had to go down the hall here. Turns out is something our engineering dept uses quite often for our Windload/Hurricane doors. Should'a known.
  2. I need to test some materials, but before I do that, I need to know how much stress I need to test them to. It's a mast, so i need to know (@sea level): x wind speed over y sail area = ? Lbs of force and X material (calculate from weight per foot) that is y feet long produces an equivilent ? lbs force at the tip when held perpendicular to gravity. Basicaly I want to see at what windspeed my home made masts will deflect perminently. There's lots of variables, I know, but takeing them out means I get to over engineer my stuff, no harm in that. http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/7127/formulas2yf.png
  3. The astons were the sexyiest cars at the track. Anyone get pics of our freindly sherrif freinds?
  4. I beleive he's playing the crab claw as some sort of percussive instrument.
  5. True, we constantly run 300pc lots off our printer at work. It kinda smells, but you could probably use yours.
  6. It's Dr. John, and he's got huge crabs. "Buy" my ass, take'm. They're on a set of rims that wont work on your car though. You can either peel them off, or redrill the rims....ummm, rims aint free though.
  7. Ever stomp on a can of tomatoes?
  8. For our class photo, we didn't need a wide angle lense.
  9. What the hell is going on in this thread that makes it 4 pages worth of interesting? Its been almost 2 pages since Dr. Jon posted, do you guys realy want to be associated with this guy?: http://www.kriskingphoto.com/photo/albums/TD-Toronto-Jazz-Festival-2005/Dr_John_175.sized.jpg Tilley, I've got some used BFG Comp TAs. I'm not asking if you want them, I'm telling you to take them. You'll need to hunt down some 16" rims, though. I've never been happy with a Nitto in both kinds of paved racing, and I've never made much power.
  10. They used to print a bunch of our instruction manuals and stickers, there's one located on polaris, 1/2 mi east of 23. If they're donating work to a non-proffit dealy'o, they aught to be able to write it off. A little job like this just isn't somethng Fed Ex/Kinkos is going to care about.
  11. Are you looking for Pro Bono work, or are ya going to pay? Kinkos and Minuteman Press come to mind.
  12. lol, Latin class pays off!
  13. You can have a car that outperforms the shelby cobra for that much money, yes. period. absolutely. Fuckin people have to get their head away from the fuzzy math under the hood and look at cars as a whole (like anything with a new "hemi" in it). Hell, you can import an Atom for less then that and have supercar performance, and even decent gas milage. Its hype, its rich guys with no taste just wanting to be the first guy in town with one, and they're willing to pay a years income for it. Its sad, realy. The Z06 is a much better car. So much so that Jeremy Clarkson sang its praises for 90% of his review on it. He called it cheap, thats about it. Anyone who thinks he doesn't like Americans should hear him talk about the french "Cheese weilding surrender monkeys". The Z06 actualy sits in the 12th spot on their leader board....12th for under $90k! It's int he company of cars that cost $100k more. Yes, the Z06 is worth 70-80g. Though, he should have been comparing it to a TVR, not a Ferrari.....maybe a stradale.
  14. I've read many of th ethings that the book is supposedly about. It's just a plot driven novel instead of text-u-mentary, right? I also understand the Book/movie takes many many liberties to make things more interesting......?
  15. There was an obscene number of corvettes there this weekend. But the "Best of Show" award goes to the 3 guys, none less then 200lb, that we saw pile out of an Austin Mini with michigan plates on it. Hardcorez
  16. Seems appropriate, since the car is named after that trak. Whats next, a Ferrari Mugello?.......Actualy, I like that track more.
  17. Shaggy Doo > American History X I got burnt bad saturday, and wore my raincoat witht he hood up all day sunday. My scalp got it pretty bad, my thinnning hair didn't help....but I dont give a shit. It was a great time, not to be missed for any reason. Thanks for drunk guy and hoodyman for stoppin by the camp, the more the merrier. Whos in for vintage Gran Prix weekend?
  18. Absolutely, I'll take it. 8' x 12' is more then enough, my mast is only 10ft. Could ya PM me some instructions on what/when works best for ya?
  19. dude look for the rain fort!!! Seriously, I want a canvass compound, tents all gouped together basecamp sherpa style! Gettin all MASH n'shit!
  20. its 2:36pm and I still dont give a fuck.
  21. as evident by his lack of any involvement with anything other then photo ops and decal design. Carol Shelby was a great man, but his time has come and gone, he's a marketing agent for what would otherwise be lack luster vehicles. I'd rather have a GLHS or Shelby Dakota, at least they were something special, not just a styling pack and a navigator long block, followed up by 03 cobra w/ exhaust and pulley HP figures. It wont be a $99,000 car for another 30-40 years, especialy if they make 8000. Hell, my car was rediculously expensive, increadibly unique, and we only got 1000 a year for two year......20 years later and its only worth 1/10 is sticker price ($80k+ adjusted for inflation).
  22. Avoid the Cheesy Roast Beef damn I just about made myself puke.
  23. I am also bringing a gigantic tent. If we can use my folks van, I'll have the EZ-up, some poles, and some more painters tarp. We could probably make a wicked awsom enclosure.....which may be neccesary, looks like rain sunday morning, and the ground is bound to be soggy. I'll be laying a footprint for my tent.
  24. is it 4' or 8' wide, wanna get rid of it? I was thinking heat sealer, too. Also, there seems to be a tyvek tape available as well. I've been reading up on folk making home-made sails out of the stuff, and they all stitch the material. I have no sewing machine, nor do I know how to use one, and hand stitch would take an eterninty. I'll need to double and triple it up where I punch my eyelets, maybe the Tyvek tape would be best for that.
