    cougar or focus

mk3 GTI VR6, great power, and exactly what your looking for otherwise, about the same size as the focus. Check out VW boards, but you can find them all day long for 5kish with those miles or less. I had a 98, black w/ black leather, 5spd, it was a ton of fun. Good luck
  2. needs passenger lower control arm, rear bumper cover, hatch corner pulled out (no paint damage, just thin metal bent down) and well you can fix the quarter panel if you want, but its not neccesary.
  3. pics at http://photobucket.com/albums/v310/BAM6i4/ Price is $3000 obo. call my cell to see it anytime, 614-595-5536 Matt

    cougar or focus

I've got 3 focus's, all ZX3's and I have never had any problems with them up to 75k miles. I'm actually selling my 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 for $3000 obo now, PM me if you want my number to check it out. Good luck either car, the cougar is a bit small inside for my tastes.
  6. Well I noticed you said that you got that value from KBB, so I checked there as well as Edmunds, and KBB PP in Excellent is only $8360, and Good is only $7600. I think you mistakenly looked at RETAIL value or something, but your numbers are way off. Let me know if your still interested, we could do something like, our car plus around $3000-$3500.
  7. Hey, I think I'm gonna have to pass, retail value in EXCELLENT conditon for private party is only $6839, I'm not sure where your getting $10k, but this is from Edmunds, and no used car is in excellent. We would still be willing to trade, but not as much cash. Good luck though, Matt
  8. 98 ZX2 + $4500...? PM me if your interested. Thanks Matt
  9. Because I want adjustable height and I want to go lower than Sportlines, they aren't even 2 inches. Jon, thanks for that link, yes I do know the difference between sleeves and the real deal. I have heard that Bilstein's are rough, any expeirence?
  10. Because I want adjustable for the winter and shit. Besides I want to go lower than Sportlines, a friend has those and its not even 2 inches. Thanks for the sarcasm Dave...
  11. Jon, read my post again... thanks. Thanks guys, I'll talk to SloMo about what they got, and I have heard good things about H&R. I want them to be somewhat firm, but definitely not harsh at all. I don't race or anything, just spirited driving. But with a wife and kid, and the fact that I drive around 3000 miles per month, I need something livable. later
  12. I'll help out, I can get a pickup truck or a full size cargo van, whichever you guys prefer. I also can get some boxes, I will try and bring them tonight if you want to Geero's or drop them by tomorrow for you. The baby stuff is MINE, all MINE i tell you!! HARR HARR HARR!! smile.gif
  13. I want some coilovers to drop my ride, prefer quality ones that dont bounce like shitty GC's. Thanks Matt
  14. ^^^haha, yep, DEFINITELY got full coverage on this one. The difference between this car and the focus is, If i would have paid full coverage on the focus for one year, I would have paid its value in insurance. But this Jetta is worth about 15k, so at $3500/year for insurance, i won't break even for a few years, which is nice. Plus VW's hold resale longer. We did go over the charges VERY carefully, and there is no way for them to sneak them in later because we paid for the car in FULL, there is no loan on the car. But thanks for the heads up. Dave....thanks for the laugh last night. This car hardly qualifies as an 'econobox' when it runs 25k+ new. But yes, I couldn't gotten something much larger/more powerful etc etc, but I don't need a bigger car, we're having ONE kid, not triplets, lol, and anymore of a car gives the woman more chances to hit something. And the car isn't fast by any means, but it goes. I don't like carks and malibu's and I didn't want a 30k car loan, so that's why I bought something I liked in my price range. Anyways, I'll see you tonight.
  15. The struts aren't fucked first of all meagan. It's the upper mounts, which is no biggie, they are $15 a side, and I've done them before. Second, I do know of the BS charge you guys are talking about that Ricart does, but that applies to financing. I paid cash for this and got no extra fees. Next, I paid well under retail of the car, I paid 11k for it and it retails for $14,400 roughly. I didn't purchase any extended warranties or whatnot thru Ricart and if I do get one at all, it will probably be thru VW CPO programs. Other than that, I love the car, it rides so smooth and is hella quiet. I'm still trying to figure out how to program my power seats, but other than that and finding a CD changer for it, I'm very pleased. This is my 3rd VR6, 1st mk4, but I already love the combo. Thanks guys for props on the car, and I know Ricart = *** suck, but I can't pass on a good deal. As for mods, probably slim to none, I just blew my wad for the car, and I've got a kid on the way and am engaged. But I will definitely drop it with some 18's this summer. I'd love to SC it but ehhh, at $4k plus I doubt it. Pics as soon as I clean it up, the red is a sweet color, I love it. Later Matt

    CLANGG BANG 1.0

Hmm, maybe I should go. Dustin, are you on stock suspension still? I dunno how my completely stock car would run in there..
  17. Picked up my ride last night. I was swaying back and forth between about 4 cars, but decided on this one. 2000 VW Jetta GLX, Dark Canyon Red with tan leather, heated/power seats, power everything, moonroof, monsoon, 16's, etc etc. 2.8L VR6, 5spd. Has 47k miles on it, and runs strong, I'm sure it will do me good for the next few years til I hit 100k or so. Pics in a few hours. I just love driving this thing, its sooo smooth. Thanks guys for helping out in my other post, it was a long week.
  18. I'll pass, I've found them new with all hardware included for $30 shipped. Thanks though Matt

    Sub 12k cars....?

I will check out a Pontiac, but the last one we had was a piece, it was a 2000 grand prix and electrical problems like a mofo and it burnt to the ground around 50k miles. I'll check out the subaru's, asked around, but they seem up there. Also, I think i'm leaning towards something german/european like audi/vw/saab/volvo, I just like how they are built. I drove a 00 v6 maxima today and didn't much care for it. More shopping tomorrow,I really liked the AWD passat v6 today, but they won't come down anymore on price.

    Sub 12k cars....?

Spec V is sold. I drove a Jetta 1.8t and it was alright, but pretty stripped. I drove a 2000 Passat V6 4motion, which is the AWD one. Very nice, tiptronic, black, heated leather, moonroof, loaded up, 65k miles, and I talked them down to $13k out the door. So I like that alot, but I called my INS and got a quote, $3500/year for full coverage. I guess it has a high point rating for repair. I also found and I'm going to drive a 2000 Volvo S40, it has 64k, private owner, silver w/ leather, loaded, asking $10,500 obo. I drove a 2000 Maxima and wasn't all that impressed, it didn't even have leather and the inside looked sorta cheap, no sunroof either. What else should I check out? I'm running out of ideas, lol.

    Sub 12k cars....?

I would like a TDI, and would rock it hardcore, the only problem is that I have heard that its not good for lots of "little short trips around town" I.E. It's more of a hwy car, and not meant to be started and driven for 15 min, but more long term sorta things. I've seen good power out of a VW TDI, best I've seen is around 175whp, 340wtq. That's crazy sweet and would put a smile on my face with that much torque. Can anyone dismiss what I've heard so I can go back to looking at TDI's again, lol.
