  1. Well, I guess I'm gonna come on here and be the dissenting voice.

Bought it this afternoon. Even picked up an Enzo wheel for it, for shits n grins...

Anyway - been playing it for about 2 hours. Can't say anything specifically bad about it. But I just turned it off and came upstairs to surf. Its gone in the game bin down in the den and probably won't see daylight again: I just... got bored of it. In two hours.

    Same old same old. Bleh.

Soundtrack rocks though. I'll be picking that up.

  4. HELP

I've got a Linux box running Suse.

I've got mySql, tomcat, ftp, and a James server configured on it.

They run fine but I need to start them up manually. Want to get these to start at bootup time.

Can anyone help me out? Tried mySQL first, and of course the documentation and advice I get on the net doesn't work....

    xinetd, rc.d, rc3.d .... BAH!

    Help

  5. Ok... if you're under 30, 80% of that didn't even apply to you. And don't pretend that it did.

  6. ... Peak torque happens at 4800 rpm, so the engine definitely needs to be spun for the full slingshot effect. The Mercedes-designed five-speed automatic, the only transmission offered... Knott says the 0-to-60 task should happen in the low fives...

Someone *WAS* in your house. Watching you sleep. Ate a peanut butter sandwich. Then they knocked down the painting. You just didn't catch them.

    They'll be back tonight.

  8. Hmm - I'd heard the opposite on HPTuner's customer support, but this is from a guy that was on the EFILive beta.

As for research I've only been haunting the websites of them and asking questions on board - the pricepoint has me delaying. That and I don't want to weld a new bung for a wideband. Anyhow - here's EFI Live's website, and a screengrab of it in action.

Out of curiousity, Austin, did you look at EFILive for tuning, and if so, what made you pick HPTuner over it?
  10. 00 T/A there is a MAJOR security issue affecting all browsers but IE. Including those on the Macs.

Here's a link. I'm not joking. This is a brutal security hole because you as a user would have NO WAY TO KNOW you are being redirected. So you could think you're going to say your bank site, but are getting redirected to another site and you'd have no indicator. Not the address bar, not the status bar, not even the SSL certificate!

    Browser Redirect security flaw

BTW - this affects every browser *BUT* IE (mainly because IE was late coming to the party with international scripting support)

Also, there's been some pretty malicious security intrusions via Mozilla and everything that's built off mozilla (which is alot) in the last month or so. also some found in OS X

    OS X holes

Like was said: It doesn't get any news time because a) few people use these b) the people who *do* use these tend to not want their problems to become general knowledge. Too bad too, because this IDN spoof, for example, is going to burn alot of users.

Anyhow, posting this to help you keep it safe. You probably already know about it.

... On another note - why is Nitrousbird hitting on his customers?

Hmm, Judging from my 3 week tenure among the undead so far - OH YEAH

    Things I learned at CadillacForums.com:

    - turbo'd SHOs are so fast they can't be touched on the highway

    - NA motors are more sophisticated and efficient than Forced Induction motors

    - race only to second gear then let off at 5500 rpm. You're *** win!

    - the only GM FI cars were sidewinders

    - the z06, Camaro SS, and Transam ram air all use blowers

    - If you want a drag car buy yourself a "WRZ" or an EVO, but if you want handling, there's no replacement for displacement.

    - Wheelhop is caused by runflat sidewall metal

    - vibration is a "design feature" of IRS to enhance "driver feedback"

    - the Mach1 is turbocharged

    - lean = power

    - wooden dashboards are an indicator to the driver and passengers of high performance

    - higher compression means more knock resistance

    - 80s Sedan Deville's can eat new GTOs alive

Mmmm. I feel myself getting smarter n faster by the minute. Look for me on the pole at the Indianapolis 500 next year...

  13. Oh there's lots more.

From the guy that thinks his Sedan Deville will "smoke a GTO" to the racing superstar who's previous ride was a SHO so fast it "couldn't be touched" on the highway, to the mechanical whiz who tells us "NA motors are more efficient and sophisticated than forced induction motors" Cadillacforums.com is just chalk full of automotive nirvana.

I can learn so much there. HURRAY FOR ME.

Oh by the way, did you know that "if you want a drag car just buy yourself an WRZ or a EVO, but if you want handling, there's no replacement for displacement."

    Good to know.
