sounds like the starter selenoid which is on the stater is bad,pull the whole starter off and take to a parts store they should check it for you.

front end tight?? those are notorius for idler,pitman arms, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings and anything else dealing with the front end. assuming everything is tight, 50 bucks at ntb downtown cbus
