Ad hominem arguments are an excellent way to prove your point.

What would you consider yourself politically?
iwishiwascool replied to Green Bastard's topic in Dumpster
The republican platform does NOT make concessions in cases of rape or incest. Romney says he does, Ryan definitely does not. -
I had WOW ultra, it was good especially if you have multiple TVs. Data rates were very strong too.

Unless your company is in a heavily regulated industry like steel or Healthcare, that argument to be a strawman. If I manufacture and sell widgets and demand is increasing for my product beyond my current manufacturing capacity, I am going to increase capacity; regardless of uncertainty (which is the only thing that is ever certain). The reality is that profitability increases when I get more bang for the buck by increasing the productivity of my existing employees. This decreases quality of life but fear of a "terrible job market" keeps them from looking for alternative work. A good way to goad this fear is to say things like your CEO said on the conference call. Marc Cuban said last week: I read hundreds of thousands of business plans, not one dedicates a single page to profitability and expansion as a condition of a favorable tax code [sic].

Mine said 51% agreement with Alabama, the reddest state there is.
-
Not exactly something to be proud of. Most people have nuanced views that don't rigorously line up with a party trying to get 51% of people under a tent.
-
Did his accumulation of wealth or income rely disproportionately on those resources? Example: I have 5 employees who all went to public schools, drive on public roads, and access the internet to serve my business. I make roughly a 50% margin on the gross pay they receive from me. Have I not consumed and benefited, as an aggregate, more than a single individual?

I agree with everything you said (!). My only caveat is that the economy is improving as I type, I'm not willing to give Supply side economics another shot to F that up. I wholeheartedly agree that far too much attention is paid to the very poor... on both sides. People here complain disproportionately about the freeloaders while missing the bigger picture which is, as you said, the gap between the middle class and the the top .5%, (top 1% is $358k+ W2 income which I do not consider to be part of the problem). Before I get called a flaming liberal again it should be known that on http://www.isidewith.com Obama is 3rd on my list.

Yup. And Guantanamo, the patriot act, etc.

I see it similarly in that neither are perfect and on strictly economic terms. Obama cannot stand up and make an argument to save his ass, literally. Strip away the social issue bullshit (on which I skew far left) and make this only about the economy. It becomes an argument of who you believe drives economic progress; the "job creating" upper class or a strong middle class. People like me believe that job creation is a function of demand, not regulations or tax codes. Demand is created by an empowered middle class. An empowered middle class can ONLY exist in a market with significantly less income inequality. The shift of wealth from the many to the very few has created the reality in which we live. If you truly believe that Mitt Romney believes in free markets, and not: markets in which those who have write the rules- that's just foolish. If you believe that rigging the tax code in such a way that the "job creators" are able to hold and accumulate more wealth and that this will suddenly cause them to magically create jobs out of the goodness of their hearts, than supply side economics is your ship. Buy your ticket at the booth. A majority of economists and MarcCuban agree that further giveaway to the top 1% will not impact job creation and only exacerbate the income inequality issue. So it goes. I'll go vote in your best interest (speaking to a majority of CR) while voting against mine, while you do the opposite.

I miss Ross Perot.

Bill at least penetrated that cigar with consent. Remember in VA where a bill was put forth a bill to order mandatory vaginal ultrasounds in abortion cases? Republicans won a mandate in 2010 under the guise that they would fix the economy. What bills did they propose to do that? Why have they taken that mandate and pursued nanny state social bullshit issues instead?
-
This would have an immediate and lasting net-negative impact on the deficit according to the CBO. What is your alternative? Romney claims that 175 billion barrels of oil equivalent are available under US soil and claims that oil producers are barred from 2/3rds. This statement does 2 things: It fails to pay attention to the updated, less enthusiastic, recalculations of available oil reserves. Second, the 2/3 number fails to acknowledge off shore reserves which skews that number dramatically. Accessing California reserves would require congressional approval as would invading the Arctic wildlife preserve. Ultimately federal land accounts for only a third of current crude production, opening up the final tiny bit won’t dramatically boost national output. On top of that, oil producers are global conglomerates and are still influenced by international demand. Neither Obama nor Romney can slow growth in China and South America. I'm not clear how the small fraction of poor people this impacts will cause a surge to the national economy?
-
So what 3 actions can a POTUS take to "fix" a slowly growing economy?
-
You are part of the problem. Bush took 225 vacation days at this point in his first term. Obama has taken 70. That includes weekend "days off". Any successful manager of high functioning individuals will tell you that time away from the subject mater is imperative. This bullshit fox news / Glen Beck argument is a strawman.
-
I think the problem with answering questions for either side is the inevitable distortion that it will illicit from the opposing team. Examples: Republicans modeled the entire convention on a deliberate and distorting truncation of Obama's "you didn't build [the roads, bridges, and internet] your business [relies on to succeed]. That is bullshit. Democrats are dinging Ryan and Romney for the exact same reallocation and cost marginalization used in the Affordable Care Act. (Romney responded in kind accusing Obama of the same while ignoring that for his (Ryan's) plan to work he would have to do the same). That whole fraud is bullshit, they should both own up to it and sell it as an effective use of limiting cost growth. Everybody's pants are on fire._

I would have liked to see him engage at least one unexpected question with a straight answer. I think that would have earned some votes.

Want blur? - shoot fast glass and go shallow

I do a lot in Illustrator and After effects; mostly to help out my wife's marketing co. I've considered one but keep forgetting to add it to my cart when placing an amazon order... It's in there now. -

In 3 min? You have a faster hand than I. I assume you use a wacom, does it speed up edits that much? -

I'm familiar, I usually use a negative mask to reveal minor Gaussian or Surface on a skin retouch, to bring out highs and lows on a B&W, etc. So do you paint in the subject or paint in the blur? -

I just tend to shoot fast glass, but I admit I've frequently missed a focus that I should have nailed. How do you avoid glowing edges in your post process? I guess I haven't tried it in a few years but back when I did, especially around hair, it was nearly impossible to replicate a true shallow dof. -
You should get to see his first steps at least (unless you have some kind of superbaby who is walking already). I feel like they are just needy blobs the first 8 months anyway. After they start walking and talking it gets interesting. You are a better man than I for what you've done.

That is super clever but I have to think that the router at that voltage would be fairly worthless even at the 20V. Likewise with the circular. My craftsman router is 1.5 HP and it can get bogged on a deep joint.

There are ~90k troops in Afghanistan, the population of Chicago is ~2.7M. Total homicides in Chicago is almost even year to date. If you had a choice in which location would you choose to be dropped? Dumb statements like you the one you made take away from the danger that our front line troops face on a daily basis.

Looks like I need to spend some time in New York.
