  1. I can't even imagine missing the first 8 months of my son's life. Welcome home. Are you back for good?
  2. On a side note, doesn't it seem like Indians most always own the Subways? I confirmed this hypothesis by looking at every Subway for sale around me within a 300 mile radius.
  3. I have no interest in franchises other than curiosity... How much do you work in your business vs. on your business vs. on the beach?
  4. I only work with private marinas in Chicago at this point. My target is replacing existing attendant "huts" with automated solutions. These marinas were incurring 90k /yr annual in employee salaries and expenses and people were sneaking in before they opened or after they closed to launch for free. I don't really have any intention to get Ohio charging for access to little lakes but if I did, here would be my approach: Generally, the Republicans that control states like WI, FL, and OH do not believe that John Q Public should pay taxes for your boating hobby. They believe in a "user pays - user benefits" approach to public works. FL uses specific taxes to recapture costs associated with launch ramp maintenance; to the best of my knowledge, Ohio does not. Charging for boat launching puts the costs associated with public marine use back on those who benefit. Annual "permits" would be available for X amount of dollars and operate via an RFID system. A security camera could snap a picture of your registration number and some states might require boaters to enter the number of people on board to aid in rescue operations. Costs are recaptured while increasing safety and security.
  5. It seems like the areas around major metropolitan areas see launch charges most often. I'm down on the Gulf Coast and it is frequent in Alabama at private marinas and non-existent in FL as the state taxes Marine Gas, tackle and the like to cover the ramps. One of the companies that I represent automates the attendant with a Kiosk and gate. I figured boaters generally did/do not expect to pay to launch and would be resistant to such a change. How would you react if all launch areas to Buckeye Lake, Alum and/or Hoover all began charging $20 a launch?
  6. Has anyone ever had to pay to launch your boat/PWC? Where were you and what was your reaction?
  7. My jail broken ATV2 is awesome. It's like a Boxee Box but completely reliable. Oh... but not trading.
  8. I dig the Gulliver, where did you even buy that?
  9. So for those of you actually "researching" and not just flipping on RushFoxBeck, the budget that garnered him attention for being a budget guru is a mess: We spend 12% of GDP on discretionary spending now, his proposal shrinks that to 3%. Coolidge was the last president to see that kind of discretionary spending level. Defense spending alone was 4.7% in 2009. He is going to do this without causing an austerity panic like Europe by cutting unspecified loopholes in the tax code... all while somehow garnering 8% annual growth and maintaining 2% unemployment. His budget is an absolute fantasy that will eliminate a significant portion of revenue inputs while promising that the rest will fall into place "sometime in the next 30 years". Bush was the last president to do that with "temporary" tax cuts over a decade ago, how did that work out? Meanwhile, he supports so called "personhood" amendments that would define a clump of cells in your wife's uterus as a person with full rights and benefits. IVF could not be squared by the personhood definition and those subjected to rape, retarded/deformed or non-viable fetuses would be forced to carry them to term. Government so small it can fit in a uterus. I get not being able to square your values to those of the democratic party, but contorting yourselves to vote against your own self interests as a result of some dodgy ideology is just sad.
  10. Do you use the spyder3 to calibrate the iPad?
  11. I used it for the first time this weekend. I shot out on the gulf of Mexico and was able to upload shots from the DSLR immediately to Facebook. The quality control isn't great as mine wasn't 100% reliable but I have a new one on the way.
  12. The firmware update allows all X2s to enable "direct mode" which establishes its own wireless hotspot. It only works for transferring pics, not internet browsing, but it does work quite well. No jailbreak or mifi necessary.
  13. My brother in law co-owns Endless Summer. He'll be happy to hear of your reco.
  14. It's on the 27 foot truck, in the middle. The deal is off.
  15. This truck looks small. $500, must pick up today or tomorrow.
  16. Ryan can pick it up tomorrow night at the earliest. If anyone can do it in the morning they're yours.
  17. Ryan (ForeverMaker) has dibs via PM. I need them picked up tomorrow (as early as possible) not today as my wife just told me.
  18. I have movers coming to clear out everything else. I'll take pics of everything I have.
  19. Storm door, yes. I think 36. I'll check on the morning.
  20. If it was the pro 70-200 you'd have me.
  21. Chad has dibs, I'll post if he flakes. I have faith in him.
  22. They aren't pretty, but they work great. Matching Kenmore electric set from sometime in the last decade. Must pick up tomorrow (Tuesday).
