I lived [nearly] paycheck to paycheck until about 18 months ago. My sister set up a financial plan for me and I stuck to it pretty well. I was having over 1k/mo taken out of my checks and placed in an annuities account. I never really missed the money since it just disappeared before I even got it. Now that I am in the process of buying and rehabbing a house, I dont save quite as much but that 18 months of sticking to my plan allowed me fund my recent ventures including the new car. I think most people out there, regardless of income, can create a significant dent in their overall debt and get out of the red with a fair amount of planning and a whole lot of discipline.

A recent thread began to make me think about how people handle money, wealth, and income. If a Mod could add a poll to this that would be amazing. Anonymity would be best. How many people here live paycheck to paycheck? We'll define this as having less than enough liquid assets to sustain 2 months of zero inbound revenue.

Have the foresight to imagine your situation 5 years from now when you are 30k in negative equity (or whatever). Doing such things will hurt your financial future for many years in the future. The short term sacrifice of putting up with the smaller car and paying it off is far greater than the long term impact on your financial future. Let this be a lesson to the rest of the youngins not to do Zero down car loans ever.

I enjoyed my experience at Roby. I obviously negotiated them down but they werent dicks about it like many sales folks are. I just pulled up what I could import it for from one of the west coast high volume super low price places. I got a quote for a car carrier to ship it. They met that total price. I "felt" like I got a decent deal and thats all that really matters. It was roughly 30k for the above pictured IX SE (aka special edition). Two months later having just paid my 1000/half insurance bill, I have zero regrets about the purchase.
