  1. Whoever the QB ends up being next year (*cough* Fields *cough*), they will have some pretty exciting receivers to throw to. Fun fact: Hill needs only 48 more catches to finish as the career leader in receptions at tOSU. That record is currently held by David Boston (who was an absolute freak show).

I'm honestly freaking pumped about Olave and Wilson. Parris Campbell is on record as saying that Olave is better than any of the seniors were this year ALREADY, and if you watched the All-American game, you saw that Wilson is an absolute beast.

Campbell actually broke the record this year. Boston had 85, Campbell had 90 this year

  2. Ryan Day making a huge splash already

Immediately gets a 5 star QB transfer

Gets a highly touted OC from Oklahoma State

Gets 2 solid defensive coaches from Rival Michigan to come here and coach, leaving Harbaugh and their stupid fans wondering if they'll ever be good again

    Keeps current recruiting prospects

    Dont forget landing Harrison

  3. I've been loving the fact that every day it's over 40 degrees is another day winter loses it's grip on Central Ohio. I'm enjoying getting around and enjoying the outdoors without worrying about white death or hypothermia. This is my dream winter scenario for Ohio (thus far)...

    until...

I'm now noticing bugs flying around outside. In January. And I'm realizing, although the cold sucks, we need at least one several-day-long killing freeze to roast the bugs and the eggs they laid if we're going to avoid a crazy spring/summer. I noticed some Japanese beetles and stinkbugs coming out from the house too. Curious if anyone else was thinking about this. There's good evidence that flies/mosquitoes get bad after a mild winter, right?

I'm good with honeybees, spiders (when they're outside), butterflies, earthworms....stuff that's beneficial for the environment. But biting bugs/wasps/hornets can DIAF.

    Our ecosystem needs a winter.

  4. My wife fell for the Vivint salesman's pitch when we moved into our new house. Don't use them. They are downright awful. Their equipment is total shit. We are stuck in a 5 year contract with them. Im so embarrassed
  5. I was like 75% right. Studrawa is probably staying. I think that the Matteson (sp?) thing ended up being almost like a package deal, and Harrison will be announced shortly as the LB coach. I've been saying since The Game that UM wasn't out "schemed" by us on defense, just out performed. They don't have the horses yet.

I think Schiano ends up the HC at Temple.

From what I hear, it sounds like Schiano is going to the Patriots to probably be their DC once theirs is hired away. His contract was up, so I think it was just a mutual non-renewal.

Grinch wanted to run a hybrid 3-3-5 defense and Day told him absolutely not, and you will have a co-coordinator, so Grinch started reaching out.

I really like the mix of experience and youth so far on the defense. Mattison does not excite me, but he likes to run a basic but stout defense that throws in exotic blitzes and line movement when he can.

I knew the rumors about Stud staying were probably true, he is a big time recruiter. While the coaches cover regions him and Larry Johnson are well known closers as the secondary recruiter for their position groups.

  6. Also...Ohio St, after going 13-1 and winning the Rose Bowl, has FIRED Bill Davis, Greg Schiano, Taver Johnson, and Greg Studrawa.

Alex Grinch is your new DC at Oklahoma.

Outside of Larry Johnson, the Buckeyes are cleaning house on the defensive side of the ball.

Sounding more and more like this is right and I was wrong.

    Where did you hear that?

Everything that has been going around is that Grinch told Day it was either him or Schiano, and that Schiano is staying, but Day wanted to keep both. Also, word is that Studrawa is staying as that promise was made to a few recruits.

  8. Is that so? Interesting. I was under the impression they did not.

Well, wouldn't you know it, Division II has a 28 team tournament. And I'm pretty sure they actually DON'T provide "scholarship equivalents".

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_II_Football_Championship

And, hey look at this, Division III invites 32 teams of completely un-incentivized scholar athletes to its tournament.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_III_Football_Championship

So...apparently we only "care" about the poor athletes who are bigger, stronger, faster, more talented, and with the better support and recovery system in place.

    :dumb:

D II gives 32 full scholarship equivalents

That just means they can give 32 players full rides, 64 half rides, or any combo.

But yes, the DIII tourney is insane for a bunch of kids paying their own way and playing for fun.

To be fair though, a DIII National Championship season would be the exact same number of games as a P5 National Championship season (15)

  9. All of you who are worried about the kids ability to "hack it", scholastically or physically, need to stop insulting the D1 athletes. The FCS teams have a tournament where 24(!) teams get in. And these kids aren't even on scholarship!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_Football_Championship

The reason we don't have an expanded playoff for the big boys is money, and nothing more.

FCS gives 63 full scholarship equivalents.
