Okay, so I'm more confused now than ever on what kind of bike to get.
I had my heart dead set on a Kawasaki Z1000, which is a bike that I vastly enjoy the ergonomics of. But I hate the colors. Orange, lime green, and red on black? What the fuck. I was almost ready to buy an Orange Z1K from a guy in Wisconsin that is a smoking deal - until I saw one today. I sat on it and I could tell right away, I hate orange. I sat on green ZX6 they had there for shits and giggles. It reminded me of sitting on puke. So, down to the red on black. This is the only bike that I can tolerate. Tolerate? If I'm going to blow a bunch of money on a bike I'm not going to "tolerate" it. I want to LOVE it. They have decent silver for 2005, but I am not ready to buy a brand new bike.
So, I guess that knocks out the Z1K.
The guy at Hinds was trying like hell to get me into a Triumph, but I fucking hate UK bikes. No. So he got me looking at a few others there that were okay, but nothing really spoke to me. The closest thing was a Kawasaki ZZR 600, which was a cool bike but it's only a 600. He says they make a 1200 version of it, but they are new and not very popular which means I would probably have to buy a new one. $11,000? No.
So I'm again lost in a sea of ignorance about bikes I need someone to throw me a life raft. Here is what I know that I like. This is more detailed than my last thread. Help me.
1. I like the more "upright" seating position of the Z1000. The slightly lower but still "touringish" position of the ZZR 600 was very good too. (To aid in your understanding here, the riding position of a GSXR 750 made my back want to jump out of my body and beat me with a tire iron.)
2. I want a blue bike. Mid to very dark blue, but it's gotta be blue. I like the blue on the R6 and R1, and on the ZZR.
3. Gotta be a 750cc or larger, preferably near a 1000. I want something to grow into that I will enjoy for a few seasons. I know that I will grow bored with a 600.
4. Prefer fuel injection. If it's an older bike, or just plain fantastic than I'll go with carbs. But I understand the principals of fuel injection way better.
5. Cost effective. I'm not ready to buy a new bike. I want to find something used, and in good condition. If that means going back into the mid-late 90's I'm okay with that. Even if it means not getting FI, that's okay.
6. My riding intentions are to work, the store, friends houses, pissing around with the local bike people on weekends, etc. Not really planning any kind of stunt riding or any of that. I just want something nice to piss around the city on, that I can keep up with a few of you guys that I plan on riding with this summer.
I appreciate everyone’s help as usual. There are just so many choices out there and I have no fucking idea what to look for.
Thanks. graemlins/burnout02.gif
