  1. Guys, help me out here. I know nothing about competitions.

How does he set a record for benching 145lbs? Is it like bracket lifting?

    Totally serious question here.

not 145lbs but it was 152.5 kilos (336lbs)

But it is a record in that federation, and with NASA there are so many different divisions (in each weight class) that pretty much everybody can get a 1rst place trophy and its not so hard to set a "national record" there and super easy to set a "state record"

  2. I disliked the one time I used chalk. Hands felt slippery. Nope never done deficits. I know they can help get over hitches in the pull. I did try for 545lbs after this and got it to my knees and set it down it didn't wanna go up any further lol. But when I do my reps I do not touch the ground with the deadlifts. I go to an inch before the ground and pull back up. 4 sets of 405 like that then drop down till burn out.

if your hands felt slippery you weren't using lifting chalk.

i usually chalk up at over 550lbs. I never use straps but have thought about it to see if I can stop my bicept pain I have that im not sure were its coming from, but dont want to lose grip strength as that is tied to your back strength.

  3. That's you I take it, good job!

you back to competitions then? I don't think I ever saw you compete at NASA when I did. Last one I did was the unequipped nationals were some kid beat me by 5 pounds as I had issues with my squat dropping bad 2 weeks before the meet.

    Bench form wasnt to bad

your transition point on the deadlift needs a little work to make it smoother.

  4. Just watch how fast you drop the weight, a lot of people get the lose skin problem.

people will have that no matter how fast or slow they drop the weight if they are loosing a large amount unfortunately.

  5. i dont think his 1000 cal diet was meant to be sustainable. Just a diet to get to his goal weight and once he reaches it he can up his calories to maintenance, unless his goal weight is like 100lbs.

I dont see much wrong with a temporary 1000cal diet, only thing would be your energy levels would be low.

there are times I cut down to 1500 cals to drop fat, and I do a good job on maintaining my muscle mass.

funny thing, my doctor asks me for advice about his diet on how he can lean down.

  6. Abs are made in the kitchen, not by doing sit ups.

well not completely true. You still need to do sit ups to develop the abs.

you have to do both, they can be hiding under fat, but if you dont have the muscle there if you are lean, obviously you cant see any ab lines.

  7. I drink at least 3 litres of water a day, I was thinking more alon the lines of sit ups, push ups and stuff to help cut down the love handles and beer gut.

    :yuno:

do you know how many sit ups push ups and stuff you would have to do to equal not eating one muffin?

if your goal is to build muscle then lift heavy weights, if its to lose fat, diet!

  8. Joe are you talking about worki g out or afr's . No idea what my body fat is. I got some love handles and some beer gut that needs to go.

    ok so your 20+%

you just need consistency with a better diet that gives you the nutrients you need while reducing calories.

you just Need to stick with it and be patient

  9. I lean up by a stricter diet, not to much cardio as diet is faster to get results if you have discipline in eating.

where are you at now body fat percentage wise and what are you trying to get to?

I walk around 9-12% depending on my bulking or cutting phase. 12% when my diet is relaxed and I'm trying to gain, 9% when I lean down with strict diet, I want to get to <8% walking around, but I need to give up some strength for that which Im usually not willing to do.

  10. I disagree, I went to Milwaukee for work last year and I saw the biggest cankles beyond imagination. Looked like massive water balloons on this ladies legs.

I wanted to get a picture, because it was beyond belief, but I would have felt horrible for her if I took that picture.

Awesome pics though. I've had great times in Chicago recently.

  11. what year did they make an improvement to the transmission/transfer case, so it wouldn't break. I know they did a computer upgrade on some of the older ones to help with the problem, but didn't after a certain year make a good improvement to the trans/transfer design?
