My money is on a missing in-line fuse after the (+) on the battery. But you may have said that it's there in your post, I'm not sure.

Just took a call from a day-shift co-worker who said that he's going to be late because his power is still out and that his car is stuck in the garage because he has an electric garage door opener. Told him the pull the handle and he said he didn't believe his had one.
