I never have understood why you need 4000lbs of material to transport a 200lb person. Its no wonder why we have an energy crisis. Just imagine if we had set a cap on weight like 20yrs ago at like... 2000lbs. Our daily vehicals would be more like trasports and not play things.
Instead now, we are in the spot of having to put a 35mpg requirement on cars... which doesnt make any damn sence at all... weve become so accustomed to driving big SUV's and trucks that get 10-12mpg to haul stupid crap around town rather than the much more effiencent shipping companies. Granted you have UPS and FedEx and USPS... but what about local shipping... 50miles or less? Dont see too many of those... may be a good market in the future.
We played cornhole in the AEP parking garage, , took a wiz on a riced out civic, and I almost took out an asshole security guard, and 4 people that cut in front of me in the beer line.
It was an eventful evening.
Oh, and WEBN firworks > *
Theyre not creating 2000lbs of downforce either
I jet is comming down very slowly based on its mass... where as a dragster has effectively doubled its mass. Plus, a jet is only going like 160knots when it lands.. not 320mph.
Yea but doesnt part of the reason the nets work is becasue it can spread all that momentum out across the front crossection of the aircraft? A top fueler or funny car has a hell of a lot less front area to absorb that energy... it might just blow right through the net completely.
Edit, you may also see some serious injury with a fixed mounted net too... like the same thing that happend to Dale Earnheart... where the brain actully impacts the front of the skull and destroys massive amounts of brain tissue. Those nets on the carrier are on a pulley system with steam rams arent they?
They dont catch the jets... if the jet misses, they take back off. Thats why they go into full after burner just before touch down. If the jet crashes... well i dont know what they do... but i dont think they have any operational netting right now.
Ive always enjoyed 1000ft races. It better for the guys who can hit the lights, and speeds dont so outragous that most fast cars can stop with even 1 chute if theres a failure.
If you actully want to do ANYTHING with it... just shoot me PMs. I can do anything to those engines. You missed out on a bare block and prepped crank by about 5 days. I gave them both to someone to scrap... you could have had them for free. I do have a set of crank bearings for it, brand new in the box. 20 out on the mains and 30 out on the rods. Come get em and theyre yours.
