  1. I've only had the stock one and a PRO 5.0, but I'm happy with the Pro 5.0. It's so much better than stock, it's amazing.
  2. Andrew, My best friends Dad had a 914 in the back of the garage when I was in High School. That thing handled like a GoKart, and we did things in it that would have gotten us killed in any other car. I had another friend who did a Renegade Hybrid V8 swap into a 914, and it was fairly straight forward. That car was Sick. I really regret not buying my friends parents car when they finally sold it a couple of years ago. Even with their flaws, 914's are a hoot. The same friends sister had a first gen MR2. We flogged the shit out of it, and it was just like reliving the days in the 914.

  4. Do you have kids? If not, get the fuck away from her before you do. Been there, done that, and you have no idea what pain is until there's a kid involved.
  5. Well, cool. At least you're getting the 2 free magazines. Those aren't cheap.
  6. Did you guys see the rebate on these? http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomContentDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=11101&content=47802&sectionId=10002 $50 rebate, plus two free magazines.
  7. Andrew, That's a beautiful car and I'm sad to see it go. But, on to bigger and better things. Rick
  8. I stumbled onto some interesting statistics today that might make resurrecting this thread from the dead worthwhile: In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ----- In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------ Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated. ----- China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated ------- Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminate d. ------Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ------ Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. ----- Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. ------ It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in: List of 7 items: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms a re now up 30 0 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns! While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break- ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it. You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late! The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson. With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'. During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
  9. Sometimes it's really hard to tell. A lot of those surplus guns sold dirt cheap mail order in the 50's and 60's. Even kids bought them. They've been sporterized and altered every way known to man.
  10. Is it this one maybe? http://www.surplusrifle.com/arisaka/index.asp
  11. If that's what it is (An Arisaka) then it's a WWII Japanese military rifle. Most of those originally had the chrysanthimum seal of the japanese empire on the front of the receiver, but it was ground off when the Japanese surrendered. It's either this caliber: http://www.midwayusa.com/ebrowse.exe/browse?TabID=3&Categoryid=10463&categorystring=653***690*** Or this one:http://www.midwayusa.com/ebrowse.exe/browse?TabID=3&Categoryid=10465&categorystring=653***690***
  12. They sell all that spent brass in big, huge scrap lots. Commercial ammo manufacturing companies used to buy it and reload it for resale. Now when you buy scrap brass from a GSA auction, you have to sign a statement that you won't reload it. The dollar is so weak right now that the scrap value of brass is higher than it's value as cartridge casings. You think ammo is high? Price reloading components. I just did a cost analysis on reloading 223 again. (I already own tons of equipment) Buying all the components, it'll cost you about $260/ 1000 just to reload brass 223. (if you buy brass) If you reload the brass you already have, it's about $210/ 1000.
  13. I can't tell completely from the pictures, but I think it's a Japanese type 38 Arisaka like this one: http://www.surplusrifle.com/arisakatype38/operations.asp
  14. There's a serious shortage of .223 right now. There was very little 556/.223 of any type at the Westland PRO gunshow, and what there was sold quickly Saturday. I saw a couple cases of steel cased Wolf @ $260/1000. Walmart has Remington UMC for about $6.87/ 20 = $343.50/ 1000. That's about as cheap as you'll find brass cased .223 currently. Or try here http://www.aimsurplus.com/
  15. That car was sick. I hate to see it go, but hopefully you got enough $$$ to move on to better things.
