Well after a quick look at what happend to my motor in the car it seems like someone befor me blew the head gasket on one side so they installed only one side with a new one and arp bolts:cool:
So Im gonnna rip the motor apart and freshen it up just in case. Re ring it, new bearings and some other goodies. The motor has quite a few miles on it it seems like.....My friend chris will be guiding me through the process so Im pretty excited to actually disasseble and put together my first motor myself.
But anyhow heres some shots of the progress I made, Would have more done but VW is leaking trans fluid after the install.....

So there is alot more than meets the eye with this project. after disassembling the heads there is stop leak all throughtout the motor and everywhere else. So its gonna need hot tanked, radiators got that stuff in it also.
Radiator needs moved forward and I need to remove a ton of other things from the front of the car to get the big FMIC to fit.
So maybe hopefully by Fall this thing fires up......
Here are some more pictures of the Exhaust manis the previouse owners had on it that clearly did not match with how low the car was. I could be driving down the highway and hit a bump and these fuckers would leave sparks high enough to see out my rear view.
