  1. Often when I refer to someone on the site its easier to call them a friend, even though I really dont know that person. Its easier than trying to explain to someone "this random guy on this online automotive car forum" blah blah blah. These guys always say "my friends told me about the site and are on here" yet we rarely see someone posting" oh hai guys this is my friend, I told him about the site". If these guys friends were on here I would hope they would at least come in and acknowledge his presence. There was talk awhile back of only allowing certain members to post in the oven, guys like Doc who are willing to give newbs a fair shake and make a judgement call.
  2. The object is not to be hard on newbs. When a guy joins, we all know hes not going to read the stickies first. Its like that on every forum and ours is a bit unique as we actually insist on certain requirements, pics, full intro ect.... So when a guy joins we try to point him in the right direction by pointing out the stickie. The oven has evolved into hazing any potential members instead of trying to feel them out to see if they are decent guys. Instead of getting guys who who are actually into cars, we get stuck with whoever will stick around through the bullshit long enough to turn into a troll. Any real car guy that happens to join and then gets shit on because he failed to notice the stickie probably doesnt feel this is the forum for him.. Keep in mind most guys make their intro post and dont immediately wait to see the responses, he comes back alittle while later. If you were a guy looking to find similar minded guys and and were actually over the age of 25, how would you take coming back to see guys calling you names, calling your rides shit so on and so on. You probably wouldnt want to stick around. So now we are stuck with trolls, declining members to sign up for events, and overall less site participation when we could be building the site with reputable guys if we just give them 1/2 a chance. We should be weeding out the tools, not the good guys. Somehow these guys have been getting on the site with little to know intro. The rep system was designed to help decide who gets in but I dont think its working. You guys neg rep before a guy even makes his second post, so instead of ever seeing how the guy reacts or behaves hes in the red. I dont rep until a guy makes at least 5 posts. Welcome new guy. Lets see which type of guy you are.
  3. ????? Did you think I said play when I said pay? I could have went to school on my own dime, doing something I didnt want to do, and still only make less than $100k per year. I figure why waste the time an effort. Now if I could have gotto a free ride and did something I loved plus a shot at a possible million dollar career, I would have certainly went. I dont think alot of these guys are going to further their education was my point.
  4. Having that dirt all over the inside of my car would drive me nuts.
  5. Not foreign like Jones Audi, foreign as in $2k beaters.
  6. Its like cr is regressing. I remember when guys were 16 and could only afford hondas and toyotas then were able to buy/build decently quick domestic cars as they got older and turned into "rice" haters. Now its back to hondas and foreign cars again. Anthony should be picking up another mr2 any day now.
  7. From a player standpoint, I would have to guess that going to college, free ride or not, is probably not even a secondary choice for alot of them. I would have gone to college if I was able to do something I liked doing, the ride was free, and I had a chance at a million dollar per year career. I was given the option to pay for college, make far less than $100k per year, and there was nothing I wanted to do. I can see why their at school, the education is just a necessary evil.
  8. So the classes are just a few hours for one day? Can you really get a basic understanding of welding in 4hrs beyond the basic knowledge you already have? I have welded a few things and understand the basics, but I want to be able to be a beter welder, can they teach you anything in 4hrs or is this a super basic class for someone who's never seen a welder?
  9. Its amazing how few the number is of schools that actually are able to operate their athletic departments in the black each year. Everytime these stories come to light there are always the debates of wether players should get payed but nobody can figure out where the money would come from. I guess if you pay a football player, you also have to pay a girls softball player despite the income their respective sport generates. I however do feel they should revisit the rules and find some way of getting these kids some money some how legally.
  10. Did you peel back the foam on the inside? Mine is on the actual inside of the helmet under a piece that can be peeled back.
  11. The motorcycle helmet is an xlarge, the snowboard helemts are unknown size as they are not marked. I believe these are adjustable by removing pads inside. They fit me but also fit my preteen kids when we bought them.
  12. The guy who owns d&f upholstery used to have one. A 4x4 camaro sporting off road lights and an american flag. does it get any more american?
  13. I have wanted this section for 5 years.
  14. I'll take it if its free and working. Pm me an addy and a time.
  15. Last time we went I caught the edge of a stump and put a very small bend in one of the front rims. Not having it here to keep the tire inflated after it goes down, which is usually a few weeks, has left a small crack in the sidewall. I would need to get that fixed first but other than that, we need to get some more guys. I take it your back in Ohio Jaron? And wheres Joe, any interest?
  16. I think that was Marcs sneaky way of pointing out he can easily get loans on them:)
  17. Check with v8fiero, I know he was a vw tech.
  18. I dont weigh no where near as much as him and could slouch enough to make my belly hit the table, its obvious he's doing it for the picture. What kind of man shy of having a health related cause sits like that? Are you suggesting that they should set aside tables that are clearly for larger people? If so why not some for smaller people, and then some for kids? Most already have ADA compliant tables which allow for chairs to be moved so a wheelchair can access them. What makes more sense is to take the average size of a person and produce seating areas which best meets this size(which it appears they have done). They can never make every customer happy so they play the average. The second the average size of its customer changes so to will their seats. Theres only so much room in one of those places. Where is the hipocracy in this thread?
