What's your favorite Ohio based facebook page?

For cr we chose to promote after thanksgiving although tina did post about it and our cr dinner in the meetings section. I am sorry if your are taking great offense I. Am not willing to collect as many toys as possible at the risk of disrespecting another group. We are a very small group and can only do what we can. We certainly do not go to the extent you do and we applaud your effort. This really could have been a non issue if you would have just appologized to trish and I am sure she would have said no worries. You stepped on toes and the people involved said no problem but you cannot help but play the victim some people would rather do that than apologize and say they did something wrong. I am not saying that your drive takes away from crs rather it makes it that much harder to attract the same clientele on our own website. Take the toy drive out of it for a minute as we all agree we want the same thing and your left with what's respectful. And I have had people state they have donated to yours as they thought it was for cr. If we get one toy we consider ourselves successful. Last year we only had 8 people donate either a gift or money which is just under our usual expectation on 10-15 people. We were able to be creative and donate 120 gifts. If we cannot get the few we do have to understand your isn't the same as ours then it really cuts into our goal of improving each year. We are constantly trying to ratify our group and be something people want to join and participate in. Our toy drive helps us achieve this goal and therefore would over time provide more and more toys. I assume you do what you feel is best to be better than you were the year before, so are we. Ours is typically managed 100% by one person, typically me sometimes thorne and it is that persons personal goal to increase what we can offer year after year with what little resources we have. Unfortunately it is not as easy to try and build ours as big as you have with yours when your doing 3 separate toy drives at once which I currently am not to mention trying to deal with major personal issues. Some support from cr and it's members would do a lot to alleviate the stress that comes with trying to make it successful on cr's behalf. Anything that takes away from that just makes it that much more difficult to achieve. It would be nice to get some acknowledgement of that by the person who with no ill intentions is doing it. -

I will apologize if I failed to explain myself correctly. For me it all comes down to respect. I have never taken credit for anything I have done on behalf of cr. I extend all gratitude to everyone else who chooses to volunteer, donate or help. I always try to publically thank everyone involved. I have never even posted about a toy drive without first asking permission from Anthony and that goes for every year. I know he wouldn't have an issue but out of repect I ask because I don't want to step on his toes in the off chance he has something else planned or wants to go a different route. Some small toes may have been stepped on but we are all big boys and girls we will get over it. I hope that josh and trish both have a successful toy drive and all groups involved are able to help as many kids as possible. -

I don't think anyone is looking for credit we don't go out and hold a press conference saying look what we did. It's taking pride in something and wanting to give others something to take pride in as well. Now we can sit around making assumptions or if you want to know why something us just ask. -

I don't think anyone has eluded to making any judgements. I assume it would be natural for the group associated with your official page to have reservations or at least some show dislike if another group started posting about theirs. Some of them would get it as I am sure trish does an we do. As we all have stated its all for a great cause. Some don't take pride in cr as a group some of us do and we like to see cr in a good/positive light and let want others to feel good about associating themselves with it. We don't have even a fraction of the participants josh has each year, cr isn't known for its vast amount of people who attend events or participate in anything really. It's very tough to get a few to volunteer items or donate money and we usually have to be very creative in having anything at all some years but we still do it because it's the right thing to do. Those of us that are willing to volunteer our time and money and stress over trying to make something successful want it to be as good as it can. I can say with100% certainty that when josh started his cr's donations dropped in half and there wasn't much to begin with. I consider myself a part of cr, I try to patronize the business' of its members and support its events. I appreciate the work and time that goes into making this site work and I take pride when we do something good. -

Toy drives are great I wish we had half as many people donate who actually looked at this thread. Some of us consider ourselves a group and get together to celebrate that. Joe when the branches of military do a toy drive do you not feel a sense of pride in being a part of a group willing to do so? It's no different here we are a community and as a community it's nice to band together every once in awhile and say we did something. Those who participate and those who run it need to feel successful at it. Time and effort go into making something like this work, hell I drove around for hours one year picking donations up from people and a few more hours buying toys with donated money and then dropping everything off. It's not about being respectful of those who actually volunteer to make something happen. Tina, Anthony and all the other admins and mods put In time to make a site like cr actual be a community and it's things like a toy drive that kinda keep us together no different than any other group. When did it become politically incorrect to stand up for your group? At what point did it become that if you don't understand something then therefore it must be wrong? If someone was butthurt trish could easily remove Josh's posts from her site and I could do so here. At some point we all have to be a little mindful if we may be stepping on someone's toes. -

It is a touchy subject because nobody wants to discourage anyone from donating toys to children in need. I know the admins on here tolerate the posting of other toy drives but it does come at the cost of doing "cr's" thing. Having been apart of our toy drive to some degree for years, never really visiting any other car groups and considering cr as my car group of choice it's nice to see what we as a collective cr group is willing/able to do. We have seen a decrease in donations since others have started the advertising for theirs we just ask that people be respectful and considerate when posting about their own. We fully understand what the end result is and are always willing to work with other groups to achieve it. I know in years past when I was a member of many other car groups they would never allow someone to post something that deters from what they themselves were wanting to accomplish and be proud of. -

My record for staying alive I believe is just as good as anyone else's in this thread. I assume I have it figured out just as well as you do. We all do what we feel is safe for us. I don't think anyone is crazy for doing what they feel is best for them. Our lives are all different and what you might feel is dangerous I may not. I figured out nothing more than what is best and what works for me. I like to think that I have put more thought into my safety other than " I have a gun I will be safe".
-
I don't think whether I have a gun on me necessarily decides if I live or die in a robbery, theft or home invasion. Those are the more likely scenarios in which you might have to draw your weapon. A home invasion doesn't require you to have a ccw to protect yourself so I wont consider that. A theft I most likely wouldn't know about until its happened so I guess a robbery is a more reasonable scenario for me to warrant carrying. If I am being robbed I will assume the robbers gun is out and I wouldn't necessarily have any opportunity to pull mine. How many would risk attempting to pull your gun just because someone is standing in front of you pointing theirs? If I was being robbed and I thought I could pull mine and not risk making the situation worse I probably would but that's not the first thing that's going to cross my mind.
-
I have had a gun pulled on me twice. I didn't panic and this was long before ccw was allowed. Had I of been carrying theres a chance I may have either pulled mine or done something to elude to the fact I was carrying which would have probably pissed the guys off. Theres always a chance something could happen, I don't live my life based on this. Like I said if the situation warrants it in my mind I carry. Someone knowing I have a pocket full of cash warrants it for me. I also may have a pocket full of cash and if no one knows I might not carry. If I worried about what "could" happen every second of my life I would drive myself crazy. If someone pulls a gun on you guys do you think your really going to have a chance to pull yours? Perhaps in an ideal situation but when someone asks for your wallet I bet most will reach for their wallet rather than their gun. Once the guy gets your wallet and runs away are you going to shoot him in the back? Your talking about a 10 second interaction that's more likely anything you have to be concerned with. In a specific situation yes you might have time to pull your weapon but if you let having a gun give you sense of safety your kidding yourself.

The abandoned parking lot was the storage yard I kept the rv at. The plates were expired, and there was no insurance on the rv. I didn't want to necessarily break the law or risk a ticket so I played the odds that everything would be fine. My gun was there in case I needed it to TRY and make things safer for me. I am just as likely to meet someone in a parking lot at 2am with a fist full of cash to buy something. Unfortunately sometimes for me I run the risk to hopefully reap the benefits these situations come with.
-
Earlier this week I sold my rv. I met the buyer in an abandoned parking lot and he handed me a fist full of cash. I was carrying because the risk was present that someone might try to do me harm. If someone came into the cake shop and put a gun to my head would I take the risk of reaching for my gun and potentially make things worse? You can never plan for every situation nor would I want having a gun on my hip give me a false sense of security. I play the odds and the odds state that I probably wont have an issue living my life normally and trying not to put myself in a situation I may have to pull my gun. Your right you can never know when you may have a need but I lived 34 years without needing one and if the time comes I wish I would have had it then I will live with it if in fact its not a situation where I lose my life. Look at how many people that pull a gun in an unwarranted situation yet they feel completely justified. I don't want to get to the point the first thing that comes to mind when I decide to do something is "it will be ok, I have a gun with me". I am responsible for my own safety and I am well aware that I am just as likely to have harm done to me whether I have a gun on my hip or not.
-
I carry when I have a reasonable suspicion someone might try to do me harm. I don't think in any 12 hr ccw class you would get a measurable amount of people who would learn, certainly not master the 30' rule. I do not have my ccw to be a hero I have it in case there is an immediate threat to me or my family's life. Carrying is not a certainty that I will be safe its there to MAYBE give me a fighting chance if the opportunity arose in a specific situation. If someone makes me feel uneasy in a 100' bubble I move away. If I was in a sticky situation my firearm wouldn't be the first thing to come to mind its a last resort not the first.
-
What else would I possible need to know? I went in knowing and having used firearms in the past. I am not saying others do not need firearm training however I certainly don't feel safe with the guys who were in my class that never once held a firearm, being taught in 20 mins how to safely manage one. If you don't know when you should draw your weapon prior to going into a class then taking the class I took wouldn't help you. Its simple if you feel your life is in danger then shoot. If you feel your life is in danger because someone yells at you, your a moron and deserve to suffer the consequences.
-
My instructor told us its a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Your weapon should only come out when in fear for your life. I didn't need to know any more than that. Oh and inform an officer when your first come in contact.
-
If there was ever a situation you felt you needed to 1. carry 2. draw your weapon, I wonder if "what is legal" will cross your mind.
-
Like I said I only took one course he might be a shitty instructor i have nothing to compare it to. He was a police officer for some local municipality. I grew up with guys who carried guns in middle school, were never caught and luckily never needed one.Seems odd that at 12 these kids never got themselves in trouble with one yet adults seem to do it all the time. I guess it comes down to the intelligence of the person carrying.
-
I didnt need anyone to tell me that if my life is in danger to the point i need a firearm, all the things i need to worry about when it comes to whats legal or not. The only useful information my instructor gave me was if you need your firarm you really shouldnt be concerned with whats legal and whats not.
-
I may be biased because I only took one class from one instructor but ours was struggling to find things to discuss after a few hours. The fact is those who are responsible to carry don't need a lot of instruction. Those who are going to get themselves in trouble will do so even with 500hrs of training.
