I've heard people getting better mpg with the 4.8L and people liking them more because the iron block? Maybe it's only for boosted applications. I'm leaning more towards the 5.3L anyways. Which year/series motor is the best? Or easiest/cheapest to swap?

I bought my c10 with the intentions of putting a 4bt cummins motor in it. Well they are damn near impossible to find, and the people that have them want a small fortune for them ($3,500+). So im debating on going to a LSX. I want something that is going to be reliable. I don't want to run a turbo, and no nitrous. I've been debating on either the 4.8 or the 5.3 truck motors. The 4.8's are less money (less hp too). I just want the truck to sound mean. Something like a TSP224 cam. What route would you go? And why?

I'm going to be changing the motor/trans and rear end of my c10. Looking for ideas and opinions of which rear ends to look at. I'm either going to be doing a 4bt cummins or a ls series motor swap. I don't have a lot of knowledge of domestic parts/aftermarket. I know people love the ford 9", what about the 8.8? What did the 9" come in? 90's trucks? What other rear ends are good? 12 bolt gm? Can you get a rear end out of a 3/4 ton truck and make it have 5 lug instead of 8?

I want to find a autometer fuel gauge that is 3 3/8. this gauge is discontinued just hoping someone has one laying around or knows a shop that does.

nice truck. I just bought one too 5.3L with the 4l80e is pretty common on these trucks. If you're not on 67-72chevytrucks.com get on there you can find any thing you want to for these and about these. I'm deciding on if I should go 4.8L turbo, or 4bt cummins.

well worth it. I've got the same gun in 12ga and 410.
