  1. I've got a ton of late model Grand Prixs and Vibes with under 30k miles on my used lot. We just took in a 2002 Special Edition GTP with 20k miles. Also have an 02 Acura TL with 50k and a 2003 and 2004 Saab 9-3. Plus the Vibe has some good interest rates and a few incentives on it right now if you want to go new. If you go new I'll do at least invoice maybe better depending on what kind of mood my manager is in and depending on how long we've had a used one I'll get you a hell of a deal on one of those. If you have time check out http://www.dantobin.com to see if you like anything. Let me know if you see anything you like and I can get you some better prices than what's listed on the website. I also have a 2005 AWD Equinox LT with 34,500 highway miles that I'd sell for $16,000 if you'd be interested.
  2. Car dealership detail shop/lot guy. A lot of Columbus dealerships pay $8+/hr. Even if they don't the work is easy and its pretty fun. If you get into the right one you can move up pretty quickly. I know a guy that started and 6 months later he was a service writer and made $30k his first year and is now making around $45k I started doing it 2 months after I turned 16 and I got a sales job at 18 and have made over $60k in the past year and some change.

  13. Trying to sell a red 2001 Ninja 250 with 760 miles on it. My fiance bought it 2 years ago for $2600 and she's never riden it. It fell over in the grass when we had it sitting outside and the clutch lever bent and theres a small scratch on the gas tank. Other than that it's in perfect condition. We owe $1500 so thats the asking price. Willing to entertain offers. Can provide pictures if needed.
  14. Trying to decide whether I should sell it or trade it in. 2000 Green Pontiac Grand Prix SE. It's got 112,xxx miles on it. It has a few problems. It needs a new windshield, it's making some noise coming from the back wheels. I'm guessing its the wheel bearings in the back. It got new front wheel bearings, spark plugs and an air filter at 105,000 miles. I put two new tires on the front at 108,000 miles. It runs very strong, it just needs a little work. I'm asking $3,000. I owe $3,500 so I'm just trying to get close to payoff. Willing to look at offers. I can get you a discount at Dan Tobin on the parts to fix anything you may chose to have fixed since I work there. Willing to look at offers. Edit: Can provide pictures if needed.
  15. If you decide to get with a GTO let me know. I have 05s and one 06
  16. I'm a salesman at Dan Tobin Pontiac-Buick-GMC (and we are currently hiring experienced sales personnel). I'm 19 years old and have been doing this for over a year now, but I've been at a car dealership involved heavily in sales departments for about 3 years now. I'm just going to kinda go through your initial list of questions. Q: What is the general work week like? A: I work five 9 hour days (either 9-6 or 12-9 with a one hour lunch break). It's about half and half. Personally I like working the later shift as that is when most of our traffic happens. Q: Do most dealerships do base plus commission or straight commission? A: It's straight commision but we do get a draw of $1500 a month ($750 on the 15th and 30th) I average right around $3500-$4000 a month but I have made as much as $7400 in one month. There have only been two months I have only made $1500 and those were our two slowest months of the year. Q: What is the general percent of commission garnered from a sale? A: Our dealership has one of the higher payplans in the city and we get 25% of dealership profit on each deal. Q: What are the best and worst things about the job? A: Not to sound lazy but the best part of the job is you can basically put 100% or no effort what so ever when it's slow. You also meet a lot of different personalities but at the same time there are quite a few egos. But that's pretty much required in sales anyway. - Any other information to share? My dealership is one of the few that I've seen that has some kind of continuity in its sales department. Our general manager has run some of the more reputable dealerships in the past and we have an owner that is very dedicated to his dealership and making his customers and employees happy. He paid over $35,000 for our Christmas party and that didn't include a bar tab. Our sales managers have been working together for almost 15 years and one of them has 28 years in the business. Basically what I'm saying is that if you find a decent dealership, you will be happy. Avoid most of the major dealerships. Byers, Ricart, Germain, and Haydocy are all no-no's. PM me or email me at agilbert@dantobin.com and I'll let you know if the dealership you're looking at is well known for chaos or if you have any questions at all about the business. Edit: Just so you know you don't have to sell pricey imports to make money. My highest commisions have been on trucks and several full-sticker deals on cheaper cars.
  17. ABS and the sport tuned suspension is standard on the current Solstice, however the limited slip is a $150 option. BTW we currently have 2 for sale at work (Dan Tobin) for any one looking for one. We have a gray and a red.
  18. That's what I did. Worked in a detail shop for about 2 and a half years. Started selling cars last December. In one year I've sold over 100 cars and made a good bit of money and I didn't really sell that many cars until June.
