actually currently ibms topend think pad, and apples topend macbook pro are very similar in price. especially since the macbook pro has the better video card, more ram, and the faster processor. what people still dont get is mac also went to the intel because they knew it would be cheaper.

thats bullshit. kids think its ok to do what their parents let them. studies have shown that the kids that have done things that have been blamed on video games (school shootings and such) have also come from either broken homes, or bad parents. Its such a horrible argument. its like blaming spoons for making rosie odonald fat.

If Windows works for you all, and you get by just fine on it, great! But as for me, I chose OS X ( and the Mac hardware ) and I am happy with it. Just sharing my opinion is all.

well, i will admit that i thought wrong. i knew that it used to be that way when they were first screwing with it. and if i were a fanboy, wouldnt i like windows better? seeing as fanboys generally like stuff just because its cool and they want to be with the majority. and seeing as mac users are the minority in this situation, and apparently not very popular, wouldnt that make me the one who could form my own opinion. seriously, i get shit everyday from my professors and classmates from being in a software development field and using mac. from the urban dictionary Fanboy 2. A pathetic insult often used by fanboys themselves to try and put down people who don't like whatever it is they like. hmmmm, could this fit in this case?

The reason that this is causing such hype, is even though OS X is the better os, there is still a huge developer base on Windows. The reason that this has happened is the fact that most developers use the x86 arch. Now that mac has switched to the x86 there will be a lot more developers making their stuff for both systems. Also for the most part, there are still (at least currently) a bunch of software that some people have a use for that is only made on XP. But the whole reason this is exciting is the fact that more developers will be more willing to try out mac now, and it will help for a smother transistion for those who swtich. and as far as a mac being the same as a dell, ibm, or gateway i dont think so. because even though you can run xp on a mac, you cant run (a full functional version) OS X on a PC. Also there are still alot of hardware differences between the intel macs and pcs. just like the way that a camaro and a mustang are similar, they both have an engine, frame, and wheels and thats where the similarities stop. and as far as the pc vs mac hardware is concerned, its all opinion just like camaro vs mustang. I hope I haven't pissed anyone off to badly during this debate. I do believe that in the end it will always be up to opinion. Also a fun fact. at one point in time when Microsoft was actually stealing all their stuff from Apple, Bill Gates was quoted saying "I don't care if theirs is better, I want it!" Well, not exact words, but the point is there.

and you are wrong! http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ also the difference between running xp on a mac and os x on a pc is, the dev version of os x that everyone was using was an unstable partial os that couldn't be upgraded and could only be used to say you could do it. on the other hand on the xp on mac side, its a full legit copy of xp that you can run, its supported by apple, with official apple drivers, and you can use xp to its full extent. and if you look up the mac xp benchmarks, xp is proving itself faster (in some cases) running on a mac.

the drivers will be up and running by the end of this week. there is another contest going on right now for whoever can get the first video drivers. so there is a lot of people working on it. its not like its a situation where there wont drivers.

well, ive done it. I have finally proven that the macintosh is better than any pc out there. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a304/ohio_wookie/DCP_0632.jpg and you cant prove me wrong unless you (not your friend or anyone you saw on the internet) can triboot your computer with xp, linux, and os x with each os running at full speed and potential. also if you didnt know, that is windows xp pro running on a macbook pro, with absolutly no emulation. it is running faster on my laptop than it does on most of your computers. and thus crowns the macintosh victorious in the pc vs mac battle. again, this is just my opinion. but than again, your opinion is wrong

actually to tell you the truth. i just picked up one of the new macbook pros (2.16ghz intel core duo, 2gigs ram) and i was going to try it out on there. its supposed to actually run really good. that way i can play oblivion on the run.

does anybody have an XP Pro disk I can borrow? I will bring my laptop and get what I need off of it. Thanks.

Ok first, fuck you CaptainAsshat on the girly hands thing, Im used to laptop keyboards that only have the one set of alternative buttons. and i am not an idiot i still use windows suXP on a daily basis and have learned to hack at it and get in running just the way i like it, where its faster and more reliable. I personally never started bashing windows. i think that windows was a great idea (although stolen) that microsoft keeps fucking up worse and worse. i just really like the fact that os x is unix base, which brings me to the point that you said there is no app library os x itself might have a smaller library than windows, we still have the entire linux/unix library open to us. and chris, im sorry i bash the games so much, if you truely enjoy the game, great! i just dont like seeing some of the stuff that developers think they can get away with. the fact that people go along with it and make some of the most mediocre games best sellers, while the great games sit on the shelf. personally i have a high standard for my work, and im just affraid that if this keeps up none ive my games will sell because they will be beaten out by BF4, CS:2024, Doom 5, Quake 6, and i cant forget WOWs 28th expansion pack. Im just going to end the argument with the fact that its all opinion anyway.

No, the powerpc arch is better because it is risc based and handles information better. I even said that the x86 switch isnt bad because will allow them to put the faster processor into the laptops. im not sure what the hell you were reading, but i never even specified exactly why i felt the ppc was better

Im using a six year old machine and its not doing any of that! also apple+alt+esc can be done with two fingers, ctrl+alt+del needs three fingers and two hands. interestingly enough, the only software that has EVER crashed on my mac the microsoft office suit. lol

Not to get into another subject all together, but Battlefield 2 should have bombed. but because of the fanboy fanbase that they have, its doing pretty good. Theres no excuse for the cut corners and the short comings of this game. The problem is, when everybody buys into these shitty game (WOW for example) they just feed the problem. Thats why no one should be suprised when shit like 50 Cent Bulletproof, and the gay ass marc ecko game. Its because the shitty developers say "HEY these guys are totally loving these horrible games, so if we make something equally bad, and not spend a lot of time on it, and release it early and people will LOVE IT!" You all might not see the problem as well as I do, but its there, and as long as there are fans of games like Final Fantasy (post SNES) it isn't going to stop. and if you enjoy BF2 your a loser because you like a game that G4 told you to like. On yet another note, I am currently using this 466mHz Powermac G4, running OS X Tiger on it, and it is nice! for being 6 years old ( and an absolute base model macintosh) its been taking everything ive thrown at it and keeps on trucking. I am truely more impressed by macintoshes now.
