  1. I need to go to Texas next year!!

Since we're on the GTR subject, what's a realistic goal for a true DD GTR? 9 sec? 8sec?

8s and retaining daily driveability is fairly easy with the platform, as long as you use the right companies and components.

Question why do so many GTR's that were racing have to stop mid track and shut their cars off and restart after a bad launch? Some kind of ECU reduced engine power mode? Happened at least to a dozen of them while I was watching. And you can definitely tell these guys are pushing pushing pushing, which is exciting, but many of them broke, collateral damage to testing the limits.

If the clutches see excessive heat (cause by too much spin, or clutch slip) the car will go into a protection mode. It will require a restart to clear the protection. This can be disabled in tune for most tuners, although it's not a good idea.

Those 6 second GTR's (well one) are flat out race cars, striped down race cars, comparing those to that yellow Huracan is silly. That car was a street car full interior. And that Huracan was toying with the competition in the roll race event, it had and "easy 220-230 in it" (according to Kevin at the event). Did they take that car to the standing mile deal?

I honestly don't know enough about that particular Huracan, BUT I know all the 2R and X package Gallardos are running around with a dogbox. The car sure looks like a street car, but I can assure you it's an illusion.

Downplaying GTR greatness is not my intention, just perspective from the event/reality. Ironically the R35 is a car I am shopping for right now!

Being a fanboy isn't my intention either, which is how it probably came off. lol

Just trying to clear up common misconceptions.

  2. That makes sense then.

He had some kind of failure down there, I am sure it will get posted up what happened, but big smoke (oil) at the top end on one of his passes.

Shep won his class. No failures.

The silver car that blew a headgasket at the top of the track was a guy out of Tennessee.

  3. Not trying to be a dick but why is this a big deal? Havent lots of cars made it into the 6s? Is the gtr really that big of a boat?

Wagner (or anyone) can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is the first car to run a 6 second pass in a factory chassis (ie. not front or back halved) utilizing (modified) OEM engine and transmissions configurations. I understand the motor and trans are heavily modified, but they aren't swapped from another platform.

It would be the equivalent of a C7 Vette running a 6 with an LT4 and and an 8L90

I think Shep ruining consistent 7.7's in a full weight, AC, power window, full exhaust GTR is more impressive. Maybe Im getting old?

Shep's car is seriously amazing. The guy refuses to compromise ANY streetability in exchange for ET. He is 2 hundredths of a second away from what he ran in a full blown methanol racecar. His car is literally the most streetable 7 second capable car I've ever seen.

The GTR guys were certainly well prepared with spares, I will give them that lol. Unlike say the Underground Yellow Huracan which flat out was hands down better then the rest, it is the new bench mark.

What was the Huracan better at?

UGR lost the standing half mile record this weekend to a GT-R as well (Alpha Logic 248.x MPH)

The reason the lambos fared so well in the roll race, was that all the heavy hitter GT-Rs were saving their cars for the 6 second 1/4 mile attempts.

  4. We're lucky to have someone like Jordan associated with CR. He's given such great deals to the members here. And I appreciate that when it comes to supporting good causes, Jordan and JET always come through.

I definitely feel like I'm the lucky one in that equation. When the friends I have made from CR make the long haul to deal with me, it's certainly humbling. Some days are rough in this business. The days I spend dealing with friends makes it all worthwhile though!

  5. Thanks guys! And congrats again on the new ride!

I swear you can swing by and hangout without having to buy a vehicle.

This car was exceptionally clean, had some nice mods, and was DEFINITELY the right color! I expect to see it making passes at the Spring Track Day

  6. Depending on the bank, this is usually handled one of three different ways.

Option 1. The dealership puts the Oklahoma title into your name, and place the lien on the title. They would then send the title to you, which you would take to the title department pay your sales taxes, and flip it into an Ohio title (which would still carry the bank lien). You would then send that title to the bank.

Option 2. The dealership puts the Oklahoma title into your name, then sends that title to the bank. Then the bank sends you a letter that you take to the Ohio title office that tells Ohio how to get the title. (You still pay your taxes at this time)

Option 3. (Rare) the dealership pays a 3rd party who handles all of the out of state title transfers and taxes. Dealerships usually have to pay a lot for this service, so usually only the largest highest volume dealers participate.

In any option, the dealers has 30 days to get it to you. Because of the delays that can push it to the limit, Ohio recently went to a 45 day temp tag. Unfortunately all other states haven't followed.

I wish they would federalize the titling and tax collection process. (Then just distribute the funds to the appropriate municipalities)

  7. Yup. Good stuff. Loved the original movie.

I know they changed a lot for the show, but just the fact that someone was able to conceptualize this kind of story in the 70s blows my mind.

IIRC the original was one of the first reference to a "computer virus" ever.

  8. Wait...the Camaro BERLINETTA had that Knight Rider dash??? The 2.5L Iron Duke 4-cylinder CAMARO had that dash???

    Lol

Mine had an OEM 305 5.0L

But I think the entire Berlinetta line came Knight Rider style.

Had to do everything custom on that obscure bastard. I remember Sun TV (yeah it was that long ago) telling me that it was impossible to add a CD changer to it. I proved them wrong.

  9. One of my first cars was a Camaro Berlinetta. When the dash failed on it GM no longer carried the parts, and it became unserviceable. We ended up making a custom dash with Autometer gauges etc.

    OEM looked like this:

I sold a 2017 R8 a few weeks ago, and couldn't help but to think "Man, what happens when this dash goes out in 10+ years"

  10. Picked up a smart watch on the cheap. ($170)

The customization is awesome, but it's a huge pain in the ass if you have an iPhone. (Be prepared to learn more about ADB debugging than you ever cared to know)

  11. money>knowledge>schooling

    Intelligence>Knowledge>Money>lots of stuff>Schooling

The difference between knowledge and intelligence is key here. Knowledge is the collection of skills and information a person has acquired through experience. Intelligence is the ability to apply knowledge. Just because someone lacks knowledge of a particular subject doesn’t mean they can’t apply their intelligence to help solve problems.

Knowledge is wonderful, but it fades as techniques and technologies come and go. Intelligence sustains. Its borders extend beyond any technique or technology, and that makes all the difference.

  12. LOL @ cleaning the shitter. That's absolutely true.

    Thanks again Grant and Mitch.

I know I could have just deleted the negative comments (Yay for sub forum mod power) but it's ok. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I'll be the first to admit I'm FAR from perfect. I probably make mistakes daily, and I don't have a problem accepting that. I was going to type out everything I do in a day (along with trying to be a husband and father of 3) but it really just makes it sound like I'm making excuses.

I'm never going to be the most "available" person in the business. I just have to accept that. I'm not going to "click" with every person on the planet, and I accept that too. I will however always be honest. I don't have many people that I refer to as "customers" anymore, as most of them are more what I would consider friends.

  13. I obviously don't get online enough anymore. (This review is 5 days old, and I am just now seeing it)

First and most importantly, THANK YOU and congrats again Grant. I appreciate the kind words, the fact that you make the long drive to see me, that you are reasonably patient with me, and also the Redbulls I have been enjoying all week that you brought me.

Also thanks to everyone else who had kind words.

I hate to clutter this thread, but everything else needs addressed as well, so here it goes.

Fool me once - contact Jordan about a car I want with cash in hand followed by radio silence.

Craig, I'm sorry I wan't able to come up with the car you were searching for last time. It was a pretty particular year and equipment set, and just wasn't easy to find. I had thought that I asked you to keep in touch with me (and stay on me about it) via text, but I might not have. If I didn't (and I try to tell EVERYONE that) then it's 100% my fault. Either way, I apologize.

You'll probably be hung or tarred and feathered for these comments on here but your experience echoes mine.

James, it was pretty crystal clear in our conversations that your method of purchasing, and my method of selling weren't a match. That's not a knock to you, it just is what it is. There is no one size fits all when it comes to things like this. I don't feel like I ever wasted your time, or mistreated you however. So I still to this day don't understand why you seem so upset over it?

Guys, I'm on this site as an automotive enthusiast. I'm not here for business. I sponsor the site because I love the place and I love the people. I come here to unwind, and I'm not even on here every day. I appreciate EVERYONE who has given me the opportunity to earn their business. I hope you guys continue to give me that opportunity, but I don't want people upset if I'm unable to locate rarish cars on every whim, or if I'm not on here daily to respond to PMs.

My cell number is posted all over the site, including my signature. Anyone is welcome to call or text me at anytime.
