  1. I peeled the back window tint off today, it was the easiest one ever, hardly any residual left. A quick windex wipe and I was done. I also peeled the sheep skin seat covers off too. Only one 2" tear in the driver bottom cushion. Hate to say this, but I missed the seat covers. Washing them right now, hopefully I don't ruin them.
  2. I once had a talk to an engineer in the wheels business. He told me he can have a set of wheels made and shipped to him from Taiwan for a set of blank in the US. Very tough business to make profit.
  3. Feeling kinda lazy, this morning I took the barge thru Sax car wash on 5th ave. There were 5-6 older gentlemen standing and staring at my car being wipe down. When the attendant finish I stepped up to claim the car all the old guys dropped their jaws. One guy asked what year and they can't believe it's a 1980. Also got some free time around lunch so I peeled the nasty tint on the four windows. They were put on to stay. Still have the rear windshield, I'll tackle that tomorrow.
  4. Yes sir, they were a la carte. The popular engine upgrade in the early eighties was the 5.4l with cam. Not sure what I have, but I know for sure it has a different rear end than the MB. Once the weather clear up I'll start cleaning it up and try to figure out what I have.
  5. I blame it on you. You like rare and obscure vehicles, I like rare and obscure AMGs
  6. Lol, that's too funny. I have to fix the CD player asap.
  7. Lol, it's Sunday church car. 37 years with 117k miles so about 3-4K a year. The first thing I did was fabrezed the crap out of the interior and six hours of 80mph with the windows down helped.
  8. Browsing some late nights CL, found this 1980 500SEL AMG and now its mine. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/david_pham2/IMG_1379_zpsqibeybhk.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/david_pham2/IMG_1380_zpsahcpossx.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/david_pham2/IMG_1381_zpsodt5wohv.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/david_pham2/IMG_1373_zpsf0nkw0ce.png http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/david_pham2/IMG_1374_zpsregyhflv.png Like I said earlier it's a 1980 500SEL AMG. One owner, living it's whole life in NC.its essentially a living room on wheels. For such a big and heavy car I had no problem hustling it down I77 doing 80mph. 420 miles to 20 gallons to boot. No radio, no AC for six hours by yourself really make you ponder life. It'll need some serious work to make it perfect but as it sit it'll be a cool DD.
  9. Does it have third row seats? And where do I sign?
  10. Wow, that's sux. Glad everyone was ok. Time to upgrade
  11. Fuck Alabama. Last month I drove thru that state for the first time in my life and I was scared to death. Speed limit was 70 and my cruise control was set at 72mph. I wish I had as exaggerated but I felt like I've went back in time for 25 years in the four hours passing thru that state. Back to the topic, they also have the MB plant in Tuscaloosa. Cheap operating cost down there.
  12. That's crazy. Even with that gusty wind too
  13. I need to go to Texas next year!! Since we're on the GTR subject, what's a realistic goal for a true DD GTR? 9 sec? 8sec?
  14. It drove fine below 70 mph. It was very smooth otherwise
  15. I recently drove a car with a virtually brand new set of snow tires. At highway speed the vehicle was a handful to drive. Any turn even slight ones would need steering corrections to keep the vehicle in lane. Just wondering if that's normal for snow tires or there are hidden suspension problem with the vehicle. Stock the vehicle came with 265-45-20 all four corner (awd). The snow tires set up on it right now is 265-55-19. My thought is get proper tires on the vehicle and be done but I don't want to spend $1200+ on tires and find out that's not the problem. Thank you in advance
  16. Yes, the digital can be change to mph. Just worry about down the road when I have to sell it.
  17. Hello all I'm looking to buy a Canadian market vehicle. It is in the US, the dealer said it's already registered in NY. Everything seems to be fine except for the speedometer. I thought that when the car entered the US, the speedometer had to changed to the USDM version. Here's the said vehicle http://www.ebay.com/itm/252790397508?redirect=mobile
  18. Sorry for the noob question, but can you powdercoat plastic?
  19. 590,000 miles 911 turbo for Civic money http://bringatrailer.com/2017/02/15/590k-miles-545-hp-2002-porsche-911-turbo-tiptronic/ I would but it's AT.
  20. loved it man. I've always wanted one but I'm an AMG fan so E63 wagon for me
  21. Being a beautiful day yesterday, I washed my car again. Low and behold, found two dents on the rear driver door. Just wondering if there is any PDR on board, or anyone has a recommendation. Thank you
  22. I knew what e30 M3 go for. You don't see those everyday. E36 M3s are everywhere
  23. Ya think? Whoever buying have enough disposable income to do so. This particular M3 will probably never be driven in a normal manner ever. May be in a museum
