In a stunning move just weeks before the NFL Draft and just days into Ohio State's spring practice drills, Cleveland Browns' owner Randy Lerner relieved Romeo Crennel of his coaching duties Saturday, and is expected to name Jim Tressel his new coach during a Monday morning press conference in Berea.
Lerner met with Crennel in Cleveland on Saturday to announce his decision before flying to Atlanta to work out a deal with Tressel, who is in attendance watching the Ohio State basketball team play in the Final Four.
Tressel, a native of Mentor, Ohio, and a lifelong Browns fan, had a 62-14 record at Ohio State in his six years in Columbus, which included a national title in 2002.
Tressel was 4-2 in bowl games and 5-1 against arch-rival Michigan. Tressel's five wins against Michigan are second only in school history to Woody Hayes' 16 wins against the Wolverines... click link for full story
