Whoever said it was a stag beetle is incorrect. Looks like something in the subfamily Scaritinae in the ground beetles, maybe even Scarites itself. Hard to say without something to use for scale. It's a very hard specie to key.

Welcome. Look forward to meeting you. The Pacific Northwest is my next possible destination once 'the itch' becomes too much to control again. (I've lived all over and I feel like that'll be the next place.) Hell, I'm almost itchy to move again, now.

Man, I'm really sorry to hear that. My gf's dog has been in for surgery and complications 3 times in the last 2 months. SHe's having a very hard time and we think there may be complications from the original surgery. We can't seem to get a good enough game plan from the vet, now and we're becoming very worried as she's stopped eating again since last night.

I admit I was already crabby when i noticed my post gone. As soon as I made a bitchy post about it, I was pretty sure why my orginal was removed.
