  1. I'm so cynical I just don't believe much of anything anymore. They ain't the first person connected to COVID-19 research that I've heard had an accident over the past few weeks.

Is this shit even possible? I love watching the original x files and the r/l shit we've read the past 10-15 years must make the shows writers feel kinda odd.

I hear you. I've litterally never seen such fishy and shady stuff before as I am seeing today. I suppose the clinton email and IRS scandal would be up there in fishyness lol
  2. I wasn't going to say anything but I'm also curious of the context around that note.
Yeah, a friend of a friend posted it on fb saying it was theirs but who knows [emoji2369].

I did read that someone posted in one of those neighborhood forums in pickerington complaining about people breathing too heavily while running [emoji1787]

  3. I've wondered how alcohol could be considered essential. Is it if the liquor store sells food items it just also sells whatever else is in the store as well? Just curious.

  4. I will add to this that one of the reasons the state has imposed these restrictions due to the lack of testing, so you can't expect an individual to "know" they have it, but you can expect the state restrictions to have have taken it into account.

If a person knew they were infected and went anyway, yes they would have liability as well. It doesn't let the venue off the hook if they defy state restrictions - they would still be on the hook for contributory negligence for defying state restrictions and their burden would be less, but it wouldn't be zero.

You would still have to prove that the infected individual knew, and in an enviornemnt without testing where many carriers are asymptomatic, that's a hard to thing to do. Also, compensation speaking the venue is a better target because it's a business with assets and insurance policies that far exceed what any individual would have, so it is better suited to pay the damages.

Have everyone sign wavers at the door? I mean no one is entitled to go, nor does the venue have to let anyone in.

Then I suppose you could go down the route of: What if someone got sick at the event and then outside of the event they are shopping at Kroger and get someone there sick and that person finds out the other person was at a big event and tries to sue? I suppose then you would have to prove they got it at the event which I assume would be really hard to prove.

Idk just throwing stuff out there.

  5. There is no official decision, but again, I can't imagine they will let THAT many people get together in a few months. OSU ticket office/Athletic Dept. is having major discussions.
I'm expecting my company to limit in person meeting sizes when we all get back in the office as well as limit travel.
  6. My only thought is that asymptomatic people *could* have had it prior, but without testing, there is no PROOF. Probable? Yes very much so but that doesn’t equate to proof. I believe in raw data more than anything else and at this point it is pure speculation as there was zero testing back then.
You are right. We'll never know for sure because there was no testing before a certain date.

  7. How can one be sure he didn’t get it recently and was asymptomatic?
The asymptomatic piece seems to be the wild card in this whole thing. I'm not sure one can be sure they did or did not have it before January based on the fact that some people could have been asymptomatic. Maybe a bunch of people in December had it and were just asymptomatic? Maybe no one had it until very late January. I'm just thankful we are taking action against this thing.

  8. It's been a very interesting study in journalism to see how the media has covered this. There's 110% no doubt this is a very deadly virus that should be taken seriously, but there are certain outlets that have really made things worse.

I was trained as a journalist by two people that have been collectively writing for over 30 years. They told me the same thing all the time: just report the facts, if you don't have the facts either don't put something in writing or be careful how you portray what you're saying.

My cousin who was a long-time news producer for Channel 4 told me the same thing as well.

Here's the problem I see from a professional level: The media started right off the bat pushing this thing as the next big plague that was going to wipe humanity off the face of the earth. Now, are people dying, yes, is their suffering yes, but not to the level the media portrayed.

Some will say it was "necessary" for them to be so stern and serious. I agree, there's a certain level of caution that needed to be put out there. The problem is, they took it too far and then weaponized the political side of it rather than just sticking to facts. This is just how the media works these days.

Now, all of this had lead to a huge uptick in social media experts and quasi-media posting some crazy stuff on Facebook and twitter that people thing is the truth. That has lead to bad comparisons becoming the truth in many people's eyes and kicked off the "film your hospital" movement. Sure, go to some BFE county hospital where you have a single reported case and you won't see bodies in the street. Go to the right hospital in NYC or Lousiana and you're going to see some serious shit.

The other issue is these models that were put out there as the gospel and showed this virus was going to kill everyone and overwhelm hospitals across the country haven't panned out. This is in my opinion of reckless reporting and has caused a lot of issues and angst.

TL;DR --- This is a bad situation being made much worse by the new media.

    Well said.
