  1. Interesting that with all the controversy and potential positives/negatives the news was more interested in where a proponent lives. Nice. Anyway, The Dispatch today had an article regarding the Cooper Park proposal and along with that is a readers pole. Word is that one of the ROAR founders has emailed that pole to a long list and asked them to vote against it. (not revealing names but somebody we know has the inside line on this type of info) So in light of that, I would like to ask that we do the same. If you can't make the meeting, vote in the pole! Send this to your email list. I guess two can play that game. Here is the link: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2010/05/19/hotissue_racetrack_noise.html
  2. The developers website for Cooper Park is here http://www.CooperParkComplex.com It has a 5 minute video and a facts link that will provide a lot of answers to questions about the project. The http://www.CooperTalk.com site was created to counter the erroneous claims of the opponent group from German Village as well as provide an online petition for those that are interested. 3. This airs tomorrow night. http://www.autosmarts4u.com/visitorPhotos/RevitalizeCooperParkRelease.jpg?KeepThis=true&TB_iframe=true&height=400&width=500
  4. Alrighty folks... next up in the drive to make Cooper Park a reality is this meeting to organize a community rally(s) in support of the project. Again, we are asking for your attendance to reflect our support. It's getting a little more serious as our small group called FOR Columbus (Friends Of Racing) is gaining strength through awareness and numbers, and we intend to be heard, loud and clear, over the "roar" of German Village. Dan "Boots" Longenette of Auto Smarts Radio, Jon Beerman, and I will be leading the meeting. Many residents of the areas immediately surrounding Cooper have already stated their intention to attend both this planning meeting and the next area commission meetings. (Franklinton and the Southwest) If you support the project, please join our effort. Bring along friends and family that also support the project. The more we make our presence and support known, the better our chances of seeing Cooper develop into the Cooper Park Complex. Please read the information from Boots below. Date ................... Thursday, May 6th, 2010 Time ................... 7:00 p.m. to ??? Location ............. Burnzies Bar & Grille 1662 W. Mound St. Columbus, Ohio 43223 This will be our first public meeting to support Cooper Park. I am inviting the people from Franklinton, Hilltop S/W area and everyone we know who supports Cooper Park to join us. We will cover the following ..... * Hand out yard signs that read "FOR COOPER PARK" * Hand out copies of 10 minute highlight DVD for the show that will air on FOX28 May 8th. * Go over questions and job duties for the two important meetings in May... Franklinton & S/W * Get our game plan in place for these next few very important months. I will ask Steve to make me a flyer so I can start handing them out in the Franklinton and S/W area to get the word out about our meeting. Please invite all your friends and neighbors that support Cooper Park and love FREE PIZZA !!! On us. WE NEED TO STAND UP AND LET THE ROAR,GERM VILL AND SHORT NORTH KNOW.... WE "THE PEOPLE" SUPPORT COOPER PARK !!!!! Thanks, Dan "BOOTS" Longenette 614-557-8838 http://www.autosmartsradio.com 610 WTVN
  5. Just got out of the Franklin County Commissioners meeting and they passed the resolution extending the developers option to buy Cooper. The next step will be for Arshot to submit their zoning change request which if approved, will allow the eventual construction to begin. That process takes several months and is a decision of the Columbus City council. So now the fight moves to convincing the Columbus City that there is community support for the project. If you go to the auto show this week be sure to stop by the Auto Smarts Radio booth. We'll have a hard copy of the petition as well as a limited number of t-shirts for those signing the petition. Thanks, Bruno http://www.coopertalk.info
  6. More news with regard to Cooper. The Franklin County Commisioners will be meeting on Tuesday, March 16 to vote on the Arshot request for an extension of its option to purchase Cooper. Arshot is requesting the extension to continue to work towards gaining zoning approval for the project. The meeting will be held on the 26th Floor of the Franklin County Government Center, 373 South High St. at 9:00am. This is a public meeting with comments allowed. ROAR opponents are expected to attend to try to show that they represent a majority of the population. We know that isn't true. If you can make the meeting to show your support please do so. Thanks, Bruno Tabacchi http://www.coopertalk.info
  7. If you mean the latest on Cooper - Arshot has requested a one year extension on their option to purchase the property (and tossed in another $100K on the deal). They are still working to gain positive confirmation from the Franklinton and Southwest Area Commissions. If those commissions give a thumbs up to the project, then zoning approvals would be much easier to obtain. Once zoning has been approved I bet you'll quickly see hammers flinging and shovels digging at the Coop! Here's a link to an interesting article in Business First regarding today's announcement. Business First On the grass roots support side of things, we are planning to have a presence during the upcoming Columbus International Auto Show to provide information and gain additional public support for the project. If you go, look for the AutoSmarts4U display booth - we'll have a portion of that area. Also underway is the organization of an "official" effort called FOR Columbus (Friends of Racing Columbus). We intend to make out voice heard in support of the project. Thanks, Bruno Tabacchi http://www.coopertalk.info
  8. Thank you again for bringing that to my attention. I will try to have that corrected. Bruno Tabacchi
  9. Appreciate the info - I'm not sure where you mean though. Do you mean the link I put at the bottom of my posts? coopertalk That should take you to the coopertalk.info site where there is a link that says "online petition" on the left side of the page. or to go directly to the petition site, click here Thanks again, if I can figure out where the mistake is, I'll try to get it corrected. Bruno
  10. Clay - hope you can make it. Moderator - thanks for moving this post - didn't see the meeting area. Bruno
  11. Probably none. This is just a get together of proponents and supporters and not a debate regarding the proposal. That's a good example though of one of the miss-conceptions regarding CPX. It is not intended to, nor designed to compete with CMS. CMS primarily hosts a weekly series that draws a regular crowd of spectators, while Cooper Park will hold only a handful of large spectator events that will draw a crowd from a much larger region - mostly folks who never go to CMS. Many of the CMS crowd commenting on TriTrackRacing agree that its a very different type of venue. And as you posted, some of the ideas being floated around for Cooper are pretty crazy. A tax payer financed $100 million dollar vertical farm? They need to cut back on the vegetation they're smoking from the little farms in their basements - or maybe not inhale as much. Thanks for your support and maybe we'll see you on Tuesday. Bruno Tabacchi go here coopertalk to learn more and sign the petition.
  12. Posting this for anyone interested in helping to make this thing a real deal. On Tuesday, March 9th an initial meeting will be held for proponents and supporters of the Arshot Cooper Park proposal. This is an informal get together to discuss methods and ideas for creating a "grass roots" campaign to show public support for the project, as well as to gauge interest in developing a more formal and organized effort. Time & Place: March 9th, 6:30pm Florentine Restaurant 907 West Broad Street The meeting will be held in a separate dining area with enough seating for 15 to 20. The restaurant will be serving dinner for those who want to eat. (No... dinner isn't covered, you're on your own there) Thanks, Bruno Tabacchi go here coopertalk to learn more and sign the petition.
  13. When it comes to parking, there will be a multi-story story parking garage along with the ground level lots. The capacity in the stadium is about 8000 and the developer says there will be enough on-site parking to accommodate a full house.

  15. Garage Cleaning time: Due to complete lack of knowledge and skills with rotary engines, and the conversion of our 1st Gen to a V8, we have for sale a grab bag of rotaty goodies. ~ two 13B engines. Both run but are in need of a rebuild and are mostly complete except for the intakes. ~ two 5-speed transmissions. One works fine and has a custom short shift lever. The other hangs up in 3rd gear. ~ Several boxes of additional engine and drivetrain parts including a fuel injection intake, Racing Beat header, and an oil pan for a 13B into a first Gen conversion and more odds and ends. Asking $250 for all. I'm wanting to get rid of everthing as a package but may look at selling individual items. Pickup Only. Thanks. Bruno Tabacchi btabacchi@gmail.com
