  3. Basically we put a new cam in my dads 5.0 mustang the other day, because the one that was in it (it was in the car before we bought it), was to big for the setup. With that cam, we shifted the car at 5800 rpm with no problems. Now that put a new cam in, which is smaller, the car starts breaking up really bad at about 5000 rpm. Any idea's? We have tried adjustimg fuel pressure, new spark plugs, and a new coil. the miss kinda feels and seems like something electrical but not sure. Nothing else was changed on the car but the cam.

  6. i know what you mean man. there is some kid in reynoldsburg with i think its a honda fit. its black with the red badge on the front to. He did basically the exact same thing to me as that retard did to you. except this retard sat behind me and bounced it off the rev limiter.
  7. Thanks alot for your time saturday. He took the time to hook up his laptop and hp tuners to check out my car at the track. its much appreciated and i will be in touch about getting a few runs on the dyno and the tranny stuff taken care of.

It started the other night after i left my friends house. i startd the car turned on the headlights, only to be told that only one headlight was on (its a fairly new bulb. the same thing happend the night before only the light turned on after a few minutes. But anyway, i pulled out of my friends drive way and start to take off but noticed the lights dim out then the car just jumped and took off. i got down to a stop sign and hit he breaks and lights dimmed out again and i noticed my volt gauge go down to about 9 volts, (normaly its about 15 volts). I put a new alternator on it yesterday and took it for a drive and it was fine (15-16 volts). after it sat for a while i went out again and it went back to the dropping when i hit the brakes. It also sat just above 13 volts now. Then i messed with it again a little bit ago and the car acted like it had problems starting and when it would, it would sit at about 9-10 volts for 15 seconds then goes up 15-16 and stays. Any idea of what could cause this? The car never did this before i put the new thrust bearing in, so i already went back and checked some of the wires i knew had been messed with (the ground wire on the motor mount for one) but it still did the same thing. is it a bad battery? or are there some other grounds i should be checking for?

  10. eh, dont get to used to it lol fridays are usually packed, we just got lucky tonight. i ran twice, both runs sucked so i left. the only reason i even went out was because of those kids in the blue civic SI hatch. they were trying to race me on main st and got raped from a roll so i can came out and raped him even worse from a dig lol.

  15. thanks man, i am to. although it is kind of getting rushed now cause depending on how bad the crank is, i might just stick a new bearing in it and hope it last the rest of this season, but im gonna be rushing to get the V8 done in case so its not quite gonna be what i wanted. im still figuring some ported LS1 heads and a nice cam might still get me close to 10's, or at least i hope.

  17. Not really but they are starting to piss me off. Ive had nothing but bad luck with them. I blew 4 of them in a 2 month span (not exactly my fault though). I had the car running great for a while with no problems, until last week. My valve train has always been rather noisy after i put the cam in, but it started getting really bad last week. I figured maybe it was just a rocker or lifter going bad, but no, i found out the thrust bearing let go and you can watch the crank pully move in and out as the car runs. Normaly i wouldnt really care, but this is gonna take away from the funds of the LS build, along with time. We think we are just gonna check the crank and see how badly it has been damaged and maybe just put in a new bearing in it for the rest of this seaon while i get the V8 ready. The only problem is time and money are being cut short so im not gonna be able to really go the direction i wanted with it. So the 383 idea is pretty much out the window for now. I think im just gonna find a 5.3/LS1 crank, and pick a set of used LS1 heads and a decent sized cam and go for mid-high 11's with it. It kind sucks, but i gues its not all that bad as it will be in the car quite a bit sooner than i expected. Im Kind of on the broke side right now, but if anyone happens to have some LS1 heads or crank for cheap, let me know.

  20. welcome man. the car looks good. i saw you at trails a running a couple weeks ago (like the last time it didnt get rained out). the car looks great. You have a buddy with pretty much the same car to right? ill also be out at trails tomorrow.
