  1. A little bit of everything shows up--classic, old school muscle, low-rider, rods, custom, high-performance, kit cars, exotics, trucks, and so forth. It's designed to be a fun event. Although prizes and trophies are awarded, I don't recall seeing any judges. I think it's all pretty informal. The CR cars have included F-bodies, Mustangs from the last decade and some ricer cars. This year they are also allowing motorcycles. So come join us
  2. Well, the Century was a big hit at the Zoo last year, so I think I outta change it up a bit. I've got this cute little car that I let some local yokel do a rattle-can paint job on ........ I figure that since it won best import and the CR club trophy at Motorhead Mayhem in August, it outta be good enough for the Zoo. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/PICT0030.jpg
  3. Yes, you're correct, pre-registering saves $5. What I was trying to ask was whether folks would be interested in meeting near the Zoo and then arriving at the same time so that we could park together. Bad for me to say "register together."
  4. Bump The long-term forecast calls for sunny and 60's for Sunday. This is always a fun car show, and I always see a number of CR cars there. Anyone interested in meeting close to the Zoo in advance and registering as a group? That way our cars can be parked together instead of being scattered all over the Zoo, which is what usually happens.
  5. Spiders should be low on your list of concerns. Bedbugs ...... now there's something to begin worrying about. From NPR: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1435655 Don't let the bedbugs bite
  6. Welcome back, Nick. Lots of autocross fans and bikers still on here. I hope you get a chance to come out to CR events / meets. + rep
  7. Thanks, Dennis. Okay to lock the thread, the bike is in my clutches now.
  8. Please delete! I can't stop looking at it and laughing. I fear for my own salvation now because of you, Brian.
  9. WHAT: Columbus Cars & Coffee WHO: Every gearhead, bikehead, hot rodder, drifter, etc... WHEN: Saturday, October 2nd from 8am to ... WHERE: Cup o' Joe, Lennox http://www.columbuscarsandcoffee.net Spread the word to other car forums, please...
  10. I'll drive down and join y'all.

  12. Actually, Andy Griffith was his real name. His character's name was Sheriff Andy Taylor. Gomer Pyle was played by Jim Nabors. Both were singers as well as actors. Griffith was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom just a few years ago. The little boy in the scene is Ron Howard (Happy Days actor and award winning director of films such as Da Vinci Code and A Beautiful Mind.)
  13. It's okay. I was bound to eventually get some neg rep (never had any until now ... though I've deserved it more than a few times). Looking at the other posts, I guess you could debate whether or not it's a direct sampling. But considering how renowned the symphony and this particular movement are, and considering what a prominent place this phrase occupies within the movement, I think KMFDM would have to admit it's more than just reminiscent of Ludwig; it directly invokes him. I'm not aware if they've ever been asked about it, but it would be interesting to see what they said. And what beautiful lyrics (some from Schiller's poem, some added by Beethoven): Joy, beautiful spark of divinity Daughter of Elysium, We enter, drunk with fire, Into your sanctuary, heavenly daughter! Your magic reunites What custom strictly divided. All men become brothers, Where your gentle wing rests. To be a friend's friend, Whoever has won a devoted wife, Join in our jubilation! Indeed, whoever can call even one soul, His own on this earth! And whoever was never able to, must creep Tearfully away from this band!
  14. I'm headed to the Red Robin by Sonic at Polaris at 9 p.m. anyone's welcome to join us.
  15. both good .... mellow mushroom bound to be busy and noisy, but better food. Hmmm. Decisions, decisions.
  16. Ever so slightly older than me, it is from Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 4th Movement.
  17. Expect to smell some biodiesel fumes there after about 9:20 or so ...
  18. I'd talk with Bryce @ WheelMedic (614)299-9866 for advice. Wheel Medic is a CR sponsor and I think you'll find nearly everyone feels they do great work at a fair price.
  19. Looks like we're in for beautiful weather tomorrow for Street Life Tour. It's from 1-9 p.m. @ KilKare. Info and directions are in the first post of this thread. People leaving with me need to be at my garage and ready to go at 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The trip is about 90 minutes from Delaware, and we won't be stopping for gas. Directions to my garage: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67087 If people want to cook-out, I'll contribute to that. However, someone else will need to organize it--I've got plenty to do getting my cars ready. Car show, vendors, drag racing, drift competition, stunt bikes, BMX competition, SLT hot body contest ...... all at one place on one afternoon. Come out and enjoy one of the last hot days of summer!
  20. Perhaps because you're getting old? I feel your pain. I think Audi is one of the last passenger car stops on the path that leads to RV magazine subscriptions, elderhostel vacations, and eventually to Driving Miss Daisy. On the bright side, you've beaten most 20-somethings to this level.
  21. Well, you're all welcome to join the caravan leaving around 7:30, but I can only get free admission for the ones driving my cars. I'm not even sure that I can get other cars into the gate that early. I thought that the gates opened at 11 a.m., but I see from the flyer that the event is listed to begin at 1 p.m. If enough people are interested, we can try to plan a cookout. Although I can bring food, I've got enough to do without being in charge of the cookout, too. So if someone wants to step up to organize things, I'm fine with that. We can cookout both meals.
  22. It would be too early for most people, but anyone's welcome to join my convoy. We're leaving at 7:30 a.m. from my garage in Delaware. They want my cars there early to get them situated and I need some time to touch them up.
  23. The forecast is for clear and sunny, high of 72. Put it on your calendar and cruise out Saturday.
