I have that effect on women. 2846 Steltzer Road Columbus, Ohio

It ain't gonna rain no more, no more It ain't gonna rain no more. But how in the world can the ol' folks tell .. Wait a minute. What a dumb song. I'll be over to Sonic if I can get one of these old jalopies to fire-up.
-
Although I admit that the weather here is notoriously difficult to predict, it looks to me that the rain is going to pass through in the next few hours. I'm thinking that by 9 or 10 tonight we'll have dry roads. Of course, that doesn't mean it's going to be crowded out tonight ..... lots of intoxicated folks passing out at home, I imagine.

Feel free to join me for supper on the patio @ QSL around 7:15 or so.

QSL Fast & Furious will start up around 7 p.m. I usually arrive about 7:15 or so and have supper on the patio. CR can crash the party at 8:30.

Here's what I've learned from experience: Never consider purchasing a residence that doesn't already have a moat. Proper moats are very expensive to add later (and you know you're gonna want one). Preferably the property should have both a moat and a polo field. Buy at higher than the appraised value so that you make a clear statement about who you are. Finance 100%. Disregard the fine print and interest rate. Get a second mortage for your "improvements," which essentially amount to haphazard decorating in your soon-to-be-ex-wife's favorite pastels. Later you'll realize that she made your place look like it was decorated by a drunken Amish teenager. Live a lifestyle so riotous that it decreases all the property values in the neighborhood. Cease all maintenance on your property. Await bailout. Hope that helps.

I think I know that feeling. Welcome. + rep

Yes, you're missing the idiom. Run of the mill: Ordinary, average, as in "It's a run of the mill Ferrari." The expression alludes to fabrics coming directly from a mill without having been sorted or inspected for quality.

Yeah, that's the back lot behind my garage. I've got two of them .... didn't realize that anyone over here had any interest in them. They will prolly need batteries from not being started, but they were in good running condition when I parked them. PM me.

I couldn't agree more. There aren't many cars that I would feel ashamed to drive, but that one comes to mind. It really screams, "I've got more money than taste." But I notice the owner displays it each year. On the other hand, that old Citroen was worth the trip all by itself. Anyone get a photo of that to post? It was similar to these: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/untitled.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/images.jpg

Pat (DrinkItDown) just reminded me of this, going on today (Sunday) 10 - 4 in Dublin. I know a lot of CR guys go to this because I've seen you there. I had forgotten this was on Labor Day Weekend. Thanks for reminding me, Pat. http://www.evansauto.com/ig2006.htm

Congrats on the improved times. You're my hero, ya know!

Great shots, Tim. I wish I could take some credit for the Viewt, but the beautiful paint was the work of Kevin Clifford (Clifford Automotive) and the wheels/tires were suggested, modified and installed by Bryce of Wheel Medic when we found we could not get Dayton Wire Wheels made to fit the car the way we wanted. The leatherwork inside the car was by Katzkin with design work and installation by Pickups Plus. All of these vendors are CR sponsors and the Viewt is an example of what a transformation they can make to a car like this on a small budget. I've got 4 drivers and two back-ups right now, so anyone who still wants the deal will go onto the back-up list. Many thanks.

2007 Lotus Elise Type 72D, possibly the most "test-driven" car on CR http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/July%20cars/Lotusrightfront.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/July%20cars/Lotusinterior.jpg

If your work involves any of the categories listed under the SERVICES Section, that would essentially serve as a looking-for-work category for you. Clicking on some of them, they appear to be people looking for both long-term and short-term jobs.

I did not run on the track, so I can't speak to those conditions. I know that the times were not very fast and it seemed to me that if CR's usual track day crew had attended, we would have taken home most of the the 6-foot trophies. I enjoyed the music and the car show. The Benz won 1st place in the Euro category. The crowd was a bit bigger than Import Face-Off. The drift finals were great to watch. The $5,000 purse draws the top national talent. There were a fair number of vendors, including some of our CR sponsors. Seemed like a number of people came from out of state, and it seemed to me (based on people asking me about my car) that there was more enthusiasm for cars than I see at many events. I had a really good time, but I know that a number of members here said they didn't want to attend because of the number of ricers and drifters. I can respect that .... to each his own.

I can get four CR members into the show for free, but you gotta help move cars. The organizers asked me to display five of my cars at the show and I've agreed, weather permitting. Problem is this: I've got to get them all from Delaware to Xenia early Saturday morning and then back to Delaware Saturday night. We need to leave from Delaware by 7:30 a.m., and return would be around 9 or 10 p.m. You'd have no duties at the show, and they will waive the $20 admission fee. Plus side: you get into the show for free, you save gas money, you drive an exotic an hour each way Negatives: you need to get to Delaware early Saturday morning (maybe carpool to Delaware?), can't leave the show early, can't drive like a tool If you're interested and can make a firm commitment, I need to submit the names by September 7th. Let me know your car preference. I'll drive what's leftover. Toyota Century (RHD, automatic) Toyota Celica GT-Four WRC (RHD, left hand shift 5 speed) Mitsuoka Viewt (RHD, CVT tranny) Lotus Elise Type 72-D (LHD, 6 speed) Mercedes SL 600 (LHD, automatic) All have A/C. No food/drink/smoking in the cars.

Nobody comes close to the quality and service you'll get from Wheel Medic. They've saved me a boatload of money on wheel repairs and refurbishing just in the last year alone. Mike moved on from WheelMedic last month. Bryce and his family are covering the front office for now and can get you taken care of. I'm sure they can discuss the pros and cons of "fix vs. buy" and "new vs. used" so that whatever decision you make, you'll feel comfortable with it.
-
I didn't take the Benz down the track, but it did get a huge ass trophy just for sitting and looking pretty. (It won 1st place - luxury, in the car show) And, BTW Jeffro, those are last year's winners you just linked us to.
-
it's at National Trail, so, maybe 20 minutes?

http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84013 I don't know how you could beat this deal. And it's $1500 under your budget, so there's a "repair fund" already banked if you need it. If you don't, it can go towards college.

The Sport & Import Car Club of Columbus (who bring you Fast & Furious Fridays @ QSL) are driving to this as a group. They've got 35 members who say they're going to meet at Block's Bagels on E. Main at 10 a.m. Sunday morning. CR members are welcome to join in for the cruise. I'll be there in the Benz.
