What are your thoughts on Litecoin or Ethereum?

Both are good, imo. I would error on the side of going with litecoin.

If you're a set it and forget it kind of person, do 1/3 of your money in each.

Just keep trying with coinbase. I was having issues this morning too, maybe wait until night when the people start going to bed here in the u.s.

P.S. just setup Coinbase, I wouldn't buy right now. There is a big dip coming up, buy then. "When is this dip happening?" Who the fuck knows...

P.P.S. talk your friends and family to get it. The value goes up when more people are involved.

Why didn't I buy any of this back in 2010?

There are all sorts of stories about guys having 1000+ coins at $0.30usd and selling for a few bucks a coin later.

It's probably better in our situation than theirs.

I finally bought a portion of bitcoin. I honestly don't see it slowing down (minus a few dips)

If you have the means and storage. Pick one, Drain the fluids, put it on blocks, and forget about it for 20 years. I wish I had held on to several cars my family and I had over the years that we basically sold for scrap or donated.

Did you buy and sell though Coinbase? Are they going to 1099 you on your profit from the trade?

Use a exchange like Gemini, based outside the US. As long as you transfer less than $10k at a time so your bank doesn't have to report it. A friend wired $71k usd through Gemini with no issues.

Supposedly there's a bit of buzz surrounding Amazon gearing up to accept BitCoin payments? All of this so far is fringe transactions and investment by people who are "In the Know" but if a major retailer jumps into this game...

The developers of this electroneum coin I got in are supposedly working with Amazon also on a app-based transaction system.

Why wouldn't the buyer of the car just exchange the bitcoin to USD and buy it in USD? Why let the dealer get that profit?

Taxes. IRS only deals in USD. If the bitcoin is never converted into currency there would be (theoretically) no tax owed.
