Sounds more like a vacuum (or vacuum related sensor) problem, but I have a fuel gauge too. Also, you can "rent" most specialty tools from AutoZone and Advance Auto. It is more to prevent excessive returns than anything, but if you ask, they will give you a used (or pull a new one if they don't already have a used, usually) for the price of the part, and give you your cash back when you return it, no funny looks about it smelling of gas and being covered in oil....

If by "smoothed out" you mean "made it run rich as hell" then that all sounds about right. Sulfur from unburned gas and burning cat... ticking cat from fuel burning in cat... won't rev 'cause it's bloody sucking gas up both holes. Could be wrong on that, but from your description this sounds like running rich. Make sure you have the right leads jumpered on the plug, then double check the timing. If you still have to turn the distributor all the way, then something else is amiss... You ARE using an inductive timing gun for this, yes? +1 for someone may have pulled the distributor if the above fails

Never actually replaced one, but unless someone has a better way I would mount a new one on steel plate, cut an appropriate sized hole in the panel, and weld it up. (with a bloody mig, no frickin' epoxy)

LOL i have been there tonight, and I am about to go back. (i also live around the corner) just to see if SK is out of jail yet and gonna play. The wings were good, but I was the only bike when I came in at 6pm. Three more or so showed by the time I left at 7:30. I asked the barkeep when SK was playing, and they said "maybe 8 or 9, we heard the lead singer got arrested today."

New owners... may still fail, but I will give it a shot besides, I would go just for the band, if bike night is cool, maybe I come back. If it fails... I probably still come back because it is a block away, but not so often...

Bike night and Shotgun Kelly is playing. (They rock out) Bethel and Sawmill in front of the commie bastards at Wal Mart. I am going for a pint or two and to catch at least one set of SK. (usually have to pay to see them and this is free) I think it is 25 cent wing night too...

Friend of my neighbors was over the other night with an old, OLD ford truck. (50's or 60,s?) Likewise it was sans bed liner and frame rails were exposed with an ignition coil mounted and spark plugs in the dual exhaust. (his were mounted out the back like "stock" though) With a little love on his manual choke and a proper bit of revving it up, he was putting out some impressive flames. :bangbang: I was quite amused, particularly since I grew up in a rural area and now I'm in Dublin, so this seemed like a little piece of home....

Greetings speed freaks and freakettes! I actually used to run amok with a number of you but went inactive a few years back when I had to sell off my 'Stang and move back north. I still know a few people here, including a cousin who joined after I went AFK. (Notice how I don't actually claim him by name... LOL) You will know him by his WRX and his WOW. I also run into a few other members on occasion like a certain OBGYN, and I could never forget Anthony's taillights. (all I ever really got a good look at on this Pontiac...) Mostly I come begging back at the CR door because I have moved back inside I270 at last, and though I still do not have a respectable race car, I have found a new hobby (and probable cause of death) in riding motorcycles. My bike is nothing fancy, but I bought two junkers and with two weeks time, grease and no shortage of burns and spilled blood I now ride about on a (mostly) restored old '78 GS550. (plus I have a lovely ornament in my back yard which closely resembles a cannibalized Suzuki parts bike....) I know I will catch shit for the 550cc displacement, but at least on this forum I should catch more love for the rice than most.... Lastly, I am an emotional masochist and just love to have abuse heaped upon me, so I naturally gravitate toward the unique CR brand of vicious love. I await your verbal abuse and I forgive Thorne in advance for his lack of wit. Oh, yeah, and since I know we are all a bunch of shallow fucks, I will just apologize in advance for not having posted a pic of my poor little frankenbike with a naked broad sitting upon it bouncing her bits about.
