  1. I installed the matching Hyperspark distributor in the BBC after doing the initial Sniper install. I noticed next to no improvement in performance and/or drivability. I wouldn't spend the money on that again for your setup. Just get something reliable whether that's OEM or normal aftermarket dizzy stuff.
  2. I would only consider a Holley Sniper if I was in your shoes and wanted to put some money into it. You could even do the 2300 2 barrel kit. A basic in tank pump with a return is what I would recommend since your doing a tank anyway. With that said you'll have to put a little effort into setting it up correctly. Its not a plug it in and go system as it claims. I learned everything on my own on how to tune my BBC with sniper and now with the Terminator LS setup. The software is pretty user friendly imo.
  3. Ive never driven one either. Ive seen them being driven and I cant say that it looks like much fun. If it was only being driven as a utility vehicle its probably ok... Why a squarebody truck if you just want it for hauling and towing? Especially for what they go for now for a clean example? I think you can auto swap one without much trouble. I think you can just keep the pedal assy and find an auto column. You could 5.3/4l60e swap it pretty cheaply.
  4. Well I think my junk is fixed. Its amazing how much better the truck runs. I set the controller to 12psi and it made 13-14 in 2nd gear and almost 16psi in 3rd. So Ill have to redo my boost duty-cycle graph. I ran it out to 6400 at these levels with no cut. The truck spools faster and just seems to run better all around. Except for the fact that my idle and some other stuff is thrown off now because the vacuum leaks are fixed. Pretty stoked to have fixed the issue. Not sure why it fixed it but whatever. Id still like to upgrade intake manifolds this winter maybe. Im sure my $100 isn't long for this world.
  5. Yeah I was hoping for something like that but its on the back of the manifold and there's nothing there and its a huge PIA to get back there. Id have to remove the manifold to come up with anything substantial. And Im not doing that unless Im swapping it.
  6. The leak plug I rigged up wasn't holding any boost once I got the BIG leak fixed. So I stopped at Lowes and picked up this plug. I took a metal valve stem and drilled and installed it in the plug. Works great and I spent 6 bucks. Found 2 more leaks in the charge piping. Everything is now sealed except for the map sensor leaks slightly. Ive tried about everything to get it to seal. I think the hole in the intake manifold is slightly too big and the fact its held in place with 1 screw off to the side. Maybe its time for a Holley Hi-Ram? I wasn't able to build more than about 2psi previously with shop air with the leaks. I can now build ~14psi with only the leak from the map sensor. Maybe more but Im worried about the plug blowing out. Hopefully I get a chance to drive it tonight and see if this fixed any of my issues.
  7. Rigged up a make shift boost tester last night. Found an immediate large leak at a port in the intake manifold that the plug must have blown off of. I also found a pretty good leak at my map sensor. So Ill fix those and retest. Probably not my problem but definitely can't be helping.
  8. That was kinda an initial thought. Now I have no experience with that in anything but Im running the recommended plugs and recommended gap so it shouldn't be doing it at this level. BR7EF gapped at .022. I guess maybe it could be coils? But it doesn't misfire or breakup it just dies for the most part. My only other thought is the intake manifold Im running. A couple guys said theirs "blew up" at around 14psi but I cant find any proof that mine is not holding. You would think once it blew out or leaked it would have a constant leak at that point. Wondering if I could rig up something to put some compressed air in the system and check for leaks?
  9. Last night I got peer pressured into going to MCR to make some passes in the C10. I was hoping it wasn't too busy but I guess they are having a race this weekend and it was a nice night so it was packed. 6 lanes of cars on street tires. So I only managed 3 passes. The truck was cutting out at WOT around 5500rpm on about 12psi. It goes from full pull to coasting immediately. If you keep your foot in it, itll just coast. If you get out of it it'll come back. Its weird. So we took it out on the street and turned the boost down and it didn't do it until over 6k. So we left it at that and I was able to make one pass pedaling first and part of second and shifting at 5800 rpm. Went 13.5 @ 105mph so not impressive but we still had a fun night. Now I want slicks..lol I looked over my datalogs briefly and cant find any obvious issues so I need to have a friend look over them with me. Here's the video and then another from the cruise a couple weeks ago.
  10. There's a guy on ft86club that has his K motor running on the stock 86 engine computer. I thought that was pretty cool.
  11. Yeah, less track days. Couldn't justify having another car sitting around that was only seeing a couple track events a year. I figure the TT could handle that if I want to continue doing some. Carvana gave me dumb money for the BRZ and I sold every aftermarket part off of it so I did well on the sale. I actually probably miss the A3 more than the BRZ. It was a great $5k car. The TT is nice. Its hard to come back from a car with the driving dynamics of the BRZ. It can't touch it. But everything else it does better for stop and go, daily driving needs. Its already stg 2 so it gets up and goes faster than anything Ive had in the past. Downsizing leaves me and extra spot to start another project of some sort in the future. I couldn't just keep collecting vehicles without clearing something out. But yeah Im manual-less at the house right now for the first time since I was 17 I think? It wont last forever.
  12. I expected a comment from you . Dont you drive an F-150 now? And yes, I downsized ( or downgraded as you might say) to 2 cars from 3. The BRZ and A3 are gone and replaced with a Sepang Blue MK3 TT-S.
  13. While I appreciate the idea that you would think it would make the truck better, the last thing I want to do to it is a manual swap. The 4L80E works really well with my setup. Shifts are normal under normal driving conditions but quick and hard during heavy throttle. Itll bark the tires when requested. The paddles make driving it more enjoyable as well compared to using the column shifter. Call me old and soft but Im glad this particular setup in an automatic. Its a lot of truck to handle at speed and Im not sure it being a manual would make it more "fun".
  14. Went to Hocking on a cruise Saturday with some friends from P3. I think the idea was to take the TT since its obviously a better twisty road car but that seemed to easy. So I decided to take the truck and see what it would do. I figure driving a truck at 7 or 8/10ths is more fun than a capable car at 3/10ths. It did surprisingly well with the limit being the front tires. It only scared me in 2 spots while taking a downhill corner with a mid-corner bump and the tire feeling like it wanted to roll under itself. It really makes me want to maybe go to a square 18" setup that could utilize a "real" tire. Reasonably priced wheels in the correct sizes are VERY limited. The truck definitely was a magnet for dudes at all of our stops down that way. Everyone was coming up with stories about their trucks they have or have had, etc. The truck is running pretty well all around. The a/c isn't functional again. I put a new compressor on it and worked around the stalling issue but then a bolt backed out on one of the lines and I lost freon again. Im over it for this year. Ill recharge it in the spring. I had a chance to do a ~60-120 pull against my buddies ZL1. His car made 570whp on a mustang dyno so I knew I was about to get the L but knew it would be fun regardless. He gave me the hit so I went up a car length but then he probably put 2-3 cars on me when I let off. I didn't feel too bad about that. After reviewing some logs the truck was only making about 11psi at peak and dropping to 9psi at redline along with soft timing and wet AFR's. So I guess its time to turn the wick up a little bit. Id like to get it to nice 12psi on pump gas. That should be a good gain. Hopefully Ill get another shot at him soon.
  15. A blue TT-S. Went 12.1. Was hoping for 11.99 but the car started wheel hoping as things cooled off.
  16. In all seriousness I would question the mechanical condition of that car. It should make enough power to go quite a bit faster than a 90 mph trap speed. I would think another 10mph if it makes the power you think it does/should.
  17. Very cool. Very similar to my times from last night as well.
  18. Im not here to argue but that's not accurate. There would be no reason to remove anything on the front end on a tranverse car to do a belt and water pump. It can also be done in a few hours. I do think those cars are good cars though. I miss my A3 some days.
  19. driver mod? :-D Sorry I should have realized that was your car and introduced myself. What are the odds we were lined up together? That pass for me was terrible. The car didn't engage the haldex and it went into "limp" mode in 3rd but then was fine in 4th. Stupid awd cars.
  20. The sxs trails were mostly on those trails you mentioned. Chicken Corners and then out at the sand flats. Thats about all we could get in, in 8 hrs. (Plus those Kawasaki TRX1000's dont have accurate fuel gauges so there was some range anxiety since I didn't know the machine that well) The two good dirt trails we took in the rental were Long Canyon Trail "rd" and Shafer Trail. Shafer runs all the way to Canyon lands (Island in the sky area). The Long Canyon rd is kinda sketchy in a rental in 1 spot. I just about stuck us in some sand holes in 1 spot. Overall a couple of awesome roads to drive on.
  21. Seems like we have a bunch of outdoor lovers here so I figured Id post some pics from our trip last week. We were actually supposed to go to Oregon last week but because of the fire we decided not to go. So I had 48 hrs to cancel and rebook a vacation with the airfare that we couldn't change. Luckily we had a connector in SLC so we just kept it and gave up the other part of the flights. I was able to book an ABNB in Moab and near Park City to split up our time. Oh and a 1.5L GMC Terrain is a huge piece of HOT Garbage! Im lazy tonight so Im not gonna detail every pic but if you have any questions or want more info lmk.
  22. Some angles I love these things, some angles make me gag. An interesting car regardless.
