Shit I wish I was that lucky - if I was allowed to spend $600 for every performance she took me to I'd have one helluva Shelby!! But I know that's kind of reversed...

Anyone Have a good scanner?? cylinder misfire 98 Malibu 3100 v6
SicShelby replied to CJINOHIO03's topic in Tech and Tips
Well is po171 means it's running lean... did it tell you what bank? I had this same code in a '94 Mustang CJ - changing the fuel injectors and fuel filter didn't help. Expose the MAF and see if it's dirty in there. If it is, take some brake cleaner and a cotton swab and clean it; be careful not to damage the sensor, as I'm sure you know. I would move on to the O2 sensor if that doesn't help - they are the cause of a lot of funky problems. Again, have you checked the EGR system? After that you could screw with the injectors, but I don't think that's your problem... Hope this helps... Gabe -
This piece is going to be "dramatic" so yeah, definitely not a classical ballet I would say that if you've never been to one... you should go and... sit through it and go from there. I had the same opinion but when I first went to one, and they can be sort of difficult because there aren't words (hand motions tell the story). It won't be what you're used to, but if you're willing to give it a try this is a good one to start with. Should be entertaining. Good luck.

2003 Sonata making a grinding noise when turning left

Maybe it was the rotors. Maybe... I'm "new and don't know anything." lol. -
BalletMet is putting on this performance - they're the "trademark" company of Columbus. I've been to some of their performances, although I have not direct experience with the Dracula one. I'll ask the wifey. Most likely it's not as traditional as the ballets where everyone is in tuxedos drinking champagne, haha. Should be an eye opener for ya, but rest assured, this isn't going to be traditional ballet - it will be some more... modern.

Haha +1. If elections are driving fuel prices we should have fucked up elections EVERY year. YAY!!

Cancer is bad here in Ohio... I'm sorry to hear for your mother; my wife and I will put in prayers for her. If you're a stern believer, adhere to the saying that God won't put you through anything that you can't handle, or anything where he's not there with you. A classmate of mine from high school was diagnosed a year ago and she's doing great. What kind of cancer is it, if you don't mind me asking? Has it metastasized?

Hmmm my wife ballet dances in Columbus... what company is putting on the show?

EGR? Worst comes to worst this could turn out to be a head gasket. -

I definitely don't think the injectors are the problem. Obviously you did the obvious stuff - spark plugs, wires, coil, etc. If it's misfiring on more than one cylinder you can count out the cylinders, unless it's cam-related. I think the fuel filter is a missed fix, as well as the fuel pump, unless you're running deficient on all cylinders. Sounds like a timing problem. -
I do have one for a dd - just saying that when I have the Shelby out, gas prices are high, and when it's garaged prices go down... Seems to be an interesting trend.
-
Ohhhh I'm wait'n for it - it'll be spring next year. Somehow OPEC knows EXACTLY when the Shelby goes into, and out of, storage. Bastards. Personally I'm almost inclined to think that they were getting way to out of hand, way too fast, and the price/barrel, frick'n WHATEVER, had to be undone so that they can get back to their regular "jack them up a little at a time" so there isn't as much bull. Did I say bullshit? BULLSHIT :bs:
-
Watch, the cop was in a wheel chair!!
-
So gas is now dipping below $75 a barrel because "OPEC is cutting future demand." I swear, everything that happens affects gas prices. A fucking illegal alien with a bad cup of coffee in the morning before cutting grass will make it go up. HOLY CRAP. So don't get me wrong, it's great that they're going back down, but it makes you wonder how much bullshit they really tell people as to why it's so out of hand. It doesn't make sense. Who knows? Anyone here know?

You're going to feel like that about everything in life bud :-) Really though, looking back on it I'm glad. I know people in every state almost, and it's a tight nit group. You will share something that common "civilians" won't understand. To this day, my wife still finds it awkward when she's around me and other jarhead buddies. I take pride in the fact that I have that title, and other people will look for that. Inside, you know that everything you go through is fairly minor in comparison to the past. For example, there are many of us who went over seas. I was one of the few that was in Kuwait when we invaded Iraq, which was setting a mile stone in history. I can remember building up on the border when Safwan hill was bombarded, and the sound of artillery going over your head; it was a RUSH. We went through climate conditions that were extremely harsh. We stayed up days on end, without accelerators (like drugs, haha). And, there was a LOT of funny shit that happens! For those that have been in (any branch chime in), you know what I mean. When you get out? you notice that it seems like everyone complains about minor things. Having been in situations where you find out that you took a simple can of coke for granted, it makes you glad that you have running water to wash your hands with! Your trademark saying will be "suck it the fuck up!" On another note as well, most people in their 20's have college loans and debt to pay off. I have none. In fact, I had 50k+ dollars for college when I got out, which was the GI Bill and College Fund combined. It's a pretty sweet situation to be in - VERY little debt, and money to go to college! What more could you ask for? You will have discipline on top of everything, and IMO it will be easier to find employment because it's proof that you can be depended on. We can all ramble on about this forever. You're going to read views of those that aren't military and never would consider it, and you're going to read opinions of those that are still active duty, or at some point have been military, and will never look back. The choice is up to you, and that's all it comes down to. Personally, I wasn't going to go off to college and rack up debt not knowing what I wanted to be in the end. I think I'm in a much better situation now :-) If you're on the fence, we're happy to share our viewpoints. Either way, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Just do it. I wouldn't go back.

I'll try to give you an unbiased opinion... but, it will probably be biased... I was active duty Marines from '01 to '05 and it was a good experience. You take the good, leave the bad. In general, most branches are going to be micromanaged - they have to be. The Air Force will probably give you the most lax atmosphere out of the branches. A positive is the GI Bill for school, although it generally takes an arm and a leg to get moving. If you're a smart kid, then talk to your recruiter about adding the College Fund when you enlist. Make sure that you get everything in writting. Eventhough my recruiter was a straight shooter, that doesn't mean that they all are. The biggest thing that I can say from being a former Marine is that you will deal with A LOT of bullshit, but again, you get the title, the friends, the experience, the etc. If you join the Navy you can move in as a Corpsman and be stationed with the Marine Corps. Corpsman can be good, considering that the Marine Corps does not have any internal medical MOS's. I cannot vouch for going into a medical field in another branch, as I have not been around them. The Marine Corps is going to be the most disciplined branch - their job is to invade and take ground. The Army is a good branch, although I would say a little more relaxed depending on what MOS. The Army's job usually is to take ground and HOLD it. The Air Force flies everything everywhere, and maintains air superiority; the Navy is exactly the way you imagine it most likely, although they supply medical resources for the Marines. In a nutshell... do it. If not... do something else. It's a good experience - it never leaves you. Gabe

I guess my question would be, did you have any trouble with getting a good coat considering that the pad is prone to absorbing more liquid? And it looks like you're going about the same direction that I'm planning (wash, clay, wash, Z5, etc). I'll probably put a couple of coats of Z5 at least, and I want to see how the Z2 tops everything. If I don't get the results I want I'll probably use a different polish and wax, maybe Blackfire and Carnuba. +1 for using a finishing pad and a PC with Zaino... And again, the Shelby isn't going to be the test car - I'll use my work car first. Whether I go the PC route or not, I'll have one for future projects, as mentioned...
-
Probably a good electric one will do for now... Once I get a compressor, I'll worry about air drying certain spots; I'll get a light to really see the picky stuff, and probably even get heaters in the winter. Right now? I'm good with getting started and making the test runs on the work car, as mentioned. Good information though, thank you for your advice... I can look at these when the garage gets more established :-)
-
Yess I've heard good things about the porter cable. No worries though, I'm not going to town on the Shelby first. I'm going to grab a random car in the parking lot and and see how hard it is to burn the paint :-) Really, I'll use it on my work car first and screw around. It almost looks like the PC is the best buy too - for about $200 or so it looks like you can get most of what you need, to include the pads and everything. If I use nothing but Zaino I'm not going to need it. Seems like a handy tool to have around anyhow. Thanks all...
-
Anyone know the best buy? I'm looking at throwing on the Zaino in a couple of weeks, who can recommend a good multi-speed buffer to get the job done?
-
Very nice. Eventually, I will get the CAI, exhaust, pulley, and tune. So far there is too much hype about what exhaust set up is the best... refer to my previous reply about punching holes in the mufflers, haha. Very cool man, love it. Did you get up to Dearborn a few weekends ago?

From way earlier in the thread, but Vince, recognize these rims? My cousin had them on a V6 he had about five years ago. Apparently they were truck rims? haha. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j298/gjsantos2/1.jpg For now the 5.4L and supporting platform is going to stay in the Shelby Thanks for asking though, however tempting... Clean GT you have, btw. Another good friend of mine owns a Scion and loves it - how do you like yours? Again thanks for all the positive comments all... still haven't heard why the Shelby is an "abomination." Can any one figure that out? Beats me. JJ? Do you know why the Shelby is an abomination, and a poor dream car? Let me know when you figure it out. Must be because I'm new.

Can't quite remember - I think the one I seen was the traditional white/blue. Mine is currently in hibernation until spring. I'll catch up with you next year. Are you having any issues with the clutch? They released the TSB but thus far mine's doing okay... It sounds as though yours might be under more intense conditions than mine though :-) What are you running in the 1/4 mile? Any mods? - Gabe
