hey guys, here is another thread about which cell phone someone should purchase lol i currently have a razr maxx thats about to kick the bucket, constantly dropping service. my carrier is Verizon and will not be changing. i would like a phone that is somewhat comparable to what i have now, i know they have a new razr maxx but when i looked at it, for a lack of better words, felt cheap. not as heavy and nice as my current one. i would like to stick with android os so that i can transfer my current apps and stuff with out to many problems. i also enjoy the battery life of my phone. so those who buy new phones every week or keep on top of this stuff, is there anything that you can recommend thats out now, or maybe i should hold off a little longer for something spectacular that maybe coming out.

i am hoping you guys can help me track down a problem that i am having. first off i have an 03 ram 2500 qblb 4x4 laramie with 242k on the clock. bone stock, its an auto. i just bought the truck a month ago. sorry about the long write up, but i want to be as detailed as possible. quick background on the truck, the guy i bought it off has had it since 100k and used it for his masonry company to hull sand and such. the truck has always been maintained by certified shops, i called each shop to verify its history. he did tell me that he did have a strange issue where the truck would shut off on him at the light sometimes but always started right back up, so one of the shops replaced one injector and also converted the lift pump to intank. he still said he continued to have the problem from time to time. since i have bought it, it has not exhibited the problem. i did however replace the fca and fuel filter. the truck also suffered a minor head on collision, but doesnt seem to have broken anything except bumper, still need to do a boost leak test to make sure the intercooler is ok. here is whats going on, if the truck is not plugged in, it will have an extremely hard time starting in cold weather and if its too cold, it will not start at all no matter how much you crank. if the truck is warmed up or has been plugged in, it will start just fine in any temp. another issue is the truck feels like it should have more umph to it, this is my first cummins but it just doesnt feel like the power is there. when i punch it from low rpms, there is a tiny bit of black smoke for a split second and then it is clear. the truck doesnt really smoke any white, in the extreme cold it has white exhaust until its warmed up so i am assuming its just vapor. the other day the temp was in the low teens, possibly even single digits, i went out and after 30 seconds of cranking, it finally started, i backed the truck up a couple feet and shut it off. about 15 minutes later, it would not start at all, no matter how much i cranked. after reading hundreds of threads, it sounds like its probably injectors, or possibly transfer tubes, or compression or a couple smaller things. well initially i thought it might be compression because the bottom of the truck has a film of oil on it and you can see oil on the end of the blow by tube. this morning (-14f degrees) i decided to run a couple quick tests. i did the simple blow by test with the oil fill cap, with the engine cold absolutely no blow by at all, just a tiny bit of air which i am guessing is just windage. i also pulled both lines off the black box on top of the valve cover and there was no air coming out of the big one and just a tiny bit of oil from the smaller one. second simple test i did was to take off the line from the pressure relief valve. there was some fluid in the valve but with the truck started, there was no fluid coming out of it but there was a hell of a lot of fuel coming out of the metal line that connects to it. there was enough fuel coming out of the line to fill up a medium size arbys cup in 10-15 seconds. for the couple tests i did, is it safe to assume that the engine is in pretty healthy condition or should i do the manometer blow by test to? could it be that the box is clogged or the smaller black line is clogged and that is why there is oil covering the underside of my truck? second, with so much fuel coming out of the line, would you guys presume it would be the transfer tubes or does it sound more of an injector problem. my buddy has a snap on modis that he can bring over, are there any tests that you guys can recommend that i run with it besides the obvious one of checking the rail pressure. also i do not believe the rockers have ever been adjusted and i know its recommended to do it about every 100k, is it possible that that might play a small role? i will be adjusting them here soon, just have not had a chance. thank you in advance for any help you guys can provide me, i am very mechanically inclined for gas engines, but still learning about diesels so i can do just about all the work you guys tell me to do forgot to mention, before replacing the fca and gettting a good charge the the batteries, the truck did have some idle surging when cold and would stall out. also i did add some service kleen into the fuel and m gas milage is excellent, the overhead shows 23-24 while cruising on the freeway, but has dropped down to 18 since i have been doing a lot of in city driving and short drive to work

the fireplace in my house is like a show piece and complements the room nicely, so i personally couldnt imagine putting an insert in it because it would take away from its nice look. i also, like you wanted more heat out of my fireplace, so after looking i came across this http://www.woodlanddirect.com/Fireplace-Accessories/Wood-Burning-Fireplace-Heaters/Wood-Burning-Fireplace-Heater-Large for me, it works great and kicks out a bunch of heat and at the same time does not take away from the nice look of the fireplace. with that said, i no longer use mine because i have an outdoor wood boiler

hey guys, im not real knowledgeable on house wiring so i was hoping you guys can help me out real quick. i tried to wire a switch exactly how the old switch was wired, but apparently the old switch is different on the inside and with the new switch wired the same way, it was just popping the breaker. i have a light switch with an indicator light to power an electric motor. ill post pics of the switch, could one of you guys please tell me where the white and black wires go from the outlet and from the electric motor and where to put the jumper wire so that the red light comes on when its in use. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b331/kliped/IMG_20140112_175714_208_zpsa2910bc6.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b331/kliped/IMG_20140112_175723_119_zps9a7691d2.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b331/kliped/IMG_20140112_175804_410_zps80effcb6.jpg thanks guys

well i finally got around to putting the new oem alternator (ouch) in and i think its cured. started it up and was showing 14.3-14.5. guess ill find out 100% tomorrow when i drive the car to work
-
my high school vocational school had one of them. all of us always fought over who would pull it in and out of the shop lol
-
i will admit, i get delivery pizza more often than i pick it up, laziness has a lot to do with it, but when you have a 1 year old and a 6 year old, you realize how much of a pain in the ass it is to get them in and out of the car.
-
just out of curiousity, how much do you guys tip the pizza delivery guy? i usually tip 5 dollars, but the more i read online about how much i should tip, seems like i am an over tipper lol
-
yet they had one of the best performances they have had all season lol
-
just checked and its done charging, i might drive it to work tomorrow and see how it does on the way there. a member on evolutionm just posted that he had the exact same problem and an alt solved it, so i guess im kinda leaning towards that
-
yea, i thought it would be long enough but its still charging lol. the trinkle charger is designed for atvs and is charging at 13v i guess ill leave it on there for a couple days, im not in a big hurry because i dont feel like making room in my garage and i dont feel like wrenching on it in the snow lol
-
ok thanks guys, ill throw a trinkle charger on it right now and leave it over night, i guess ill see in the morning.

someone correct me if im wrong, but the pre cat 02 sensor should never read 0 volts unless its out of the exhaust stream. maybe you got a bad sensor, you should have a one year warranty on it, swap it out and see if that fixes the problem.

hey guys, i have an 05 evo and am having weird alternator problems, maybe one of you guys has experienced it before. started yesterday, while driving my voltage kept dropping to 11.5 then back up to high 13s 14s. it was sporadic. there were sometime long intervals of when it would drop into the 11s and stay there. today when i go to leave work, my voltage was in the 11s and never went up to 14s. luckily i only live about 10 miles from my work and was able to get home before draining the battery completely. sitting in my driveway, i decided to put it on the factory 2 step and bam, the alternator kicks back in and starts charging again at 14 volts. now last thing, when the car is idling in the low rpms, the voltage out put is in the 12s, but giving it a little gas brings it back up to the 14s. i monitored all the voltage from my hks turbo timer, i confirmed idle voltage at the alternator. is it safe to assume that the alternator or at least the voltage regulator inside the alternator is done for and is just playing mind games with me at this point? btw the alternator is an NSA alternator.
