Interesting. You think we should continue to make poor decisions as long as other people are also making poor decisions. Gonna have to agree to disagree on that strategy, I guess. -

If you think Man is helping climate change along, do you think it's a good idea for us to continue to pump unregulated amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere? -

No I got that part, but what does this have to do with anything I said, though? What point do you think I was making, and how is this a relevant response to that point? Let's break down my post. I think I was making these points: 1) A lot of California actually is either federal land or is the responsibility of the federal government. 2) Californians have not done themselves any favors by expanding into areas with frequent existing wildfires. 3) The federal government shouldn't point fingers when providing emergency assistance. 4) Trump is an asshole for doing exactly that. What do you disagree with in those 4 points that caused you to lash out at me for some perceived financial injustice? -

Nothing I just quoted makes any sense to me, especially in context of my post. Can you spell it out for me? -

I read that 60% of California is under some type of federal land management program. A lot of the west is like that, because most of the land out there that the federal government bought/stole from Mexico is useless and there was no reason for the states to want it. So they do have a roll to play. I also read that the majority of the "largest" fires in California happened predominately on federal land, however since that land is mostly unpopulated none of them are all that deadly/destructive and therefore we don't really hear about them. However, as Californians have expanded closer and closer to that federal land, those fires are suddenly spreading to populated areas. Hard to say what responsibility the federal government has in that regard, since it's people's own dumb fault for moving to such a dry, dangerous area, but I also don't think it's the federal government's place to point fingers in times of crisis. They should supply the help that's needed, and deal with the poor decisions after the fact. Donald "it's never my fault" Trump apparently disagrees. -

The media is just being unfair to Trump by reporting his actual words. Totally unfair. -
CR is pretending like it cares about racing again? Must be winter. There are 2 great indoor go-kart tracks in the city that struggle to keep league nights filled, and Mid-Ohio is 50 minutes away.
-
Is this a joke?

To anyone who thinks that the media is being too unfair to Trump, do you read his Twitter feed?

Why didn't they just say Christmas? Are they trying to be PC? Is this part of the WAR on Christmas?!?!?!

One big takeaway is that it's expensive. Very expensive. And it's impossible to escape the sunk cost fallacy. By the time you're all there with a running, tech'ed in car, with food, lodging, race suits, a full refueling setup and a 55 gallon barrel of 87 octane, you're in deep. At that point if anything pricey breaks, what's another $1000 split 3 ways in order to salvage the weekend? Credit cards get a workout on race weekend. Since you have a rare car, bring spares. We drove 4 hours each way at one of our races when our A20 Prelude engine blew, because they're getting to be hens teeth in wrecking yards. Prepare to destroy wheel bearings, axles, suspension components (contact is a real problem), tires, radiators... you name it. You're paying all of this money to be at the racetrack with your friends, not sitting in a truck driving to and from junkyards and parts stores. Find a parts car, strip the suspension and drivetrain and bring it all with you. Pull off anything you can that requires special tools. At our first race we had to pull the cylinder head, which means removing the EGR system. Ugh. Trying to do that in a paddock with simple hand tools was the worst. Wish we would have stripped that off ahead of time. And the dash, and most of the wiring, etc. And lastly, the hardest thing in the world is to get everyone together at the same time to work on the car. Someone needs to be the point man and lean on people to do stuff, because everyone has lives and people flake.

They should bring back Billy Beer.

Just as long as he doesn't wear a tan suit. 8 years of Obama being criticized daily for pretty much just going about his job like a normal president has left me a bit numb to claims that the left is being too unfair to Trump. If you want to argue that people are too obsessed with the daily goings on of the president that's one thing, but this is certainly not a left/right issue.

Well, progress was actually made, you know. Illegal border crossings skyrocketed in the late 80s and all through the 90s. I personally disagree with Clinton's BS rhetoric there about them tekkin' our jerbs, but I can reasonably see someone being concerned with illegal immigration in 1996. But look at those numbers! The number of illegal immigrants in the country has steadily been decreasing since 2007, and illegal border crossings have dwindled, and that's not because of tough enforcement, it's because economies in many South American countries have improved. Why, then, is the immigrant fear drum being beat louder now than ever before? Hmmm....

Good luck, I don't have a ton of advice from my dismal year doing Chump/Lemons but if you have any questions I can probably tell you some things not to do. I also have a harness I bought last year that's still good for 4 years if you want something cheap.

Buddy, my point is that the conservative narrative du jour is "jobs not mobs" or some shit, that is that the left is a bunch of violent thugs. And yet the only two people who have lost their cool and threatened violence in these many CR political threads are you and Brandon. I was simply pointing out the inherent irony in order to score internet points. Not surprisingly, both of you then played coy about the clear intent of your words. Not sure what that's all about.
-
Why do conservatives always threaten violence when they get upset? -CR, probably
-
We judge others their actions but we want others to judge us by our intentions.

If the guy's not a white supremacist then he's doing his argument a disservice by using the language of white supremacists. I have no patience for that, because very few racists come out and say they're racist anymore. They've learned to use coded language, like "we must secure a future for our children". A seemingly innocuous statement, right? But also 8 of the 14 words. In sorry, but white genocide is a very popular talking point in white supremacist literature, and if this guy didn't want me to think he's one of them he shouldn't be talking like that. Maybe you're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not.
-
Yeah, calling that ethnic cleansing is pretty fucking whackadoo, and is an insult to cultures that were actually ethnically cleansed, like native Americans. But it's also pretty standard white supremacist garbage. Which is the whole problem with those stupid signs. How are you supposed to react to white supremacist trolls? I'm not sure, but there sure as shit not on my side.
-
I just said he's wrong that forced diversity is the same as ethnic cleansing. What's this post all about?
-
Yes, he's wrong.
