LS Sonoma's, its kind of what I do. Yours is looking good, man.

L92 never had DoD. The 2010+ L92 variant with DoD was actually the L94. A real L92 is basically an LS3 with truck manifolds and VVT.
Thanks Joe! I didn't know that, learn something new everyday. I've been looking at engines out of the 07-08 Escalade for this project.

Thats a LOT of car for 13k!
It is indeed.
I bought my '00 FRC with 10k less miles for $11k.. just had to go to Florida to get it.

The 388 is basically an LS7 with an LS3 crank.
So the obvious budget option would be to take an LS3 and just overbore it to an LS7 bore diameter. Get an early L92 if you want to do it cheap.
There it is! L92. Overbore, then add some good valve train and Jesel components. delete DOD, etc.

Na build I assume?
Yes Sir.
I also want to stay away from iron blocks.

The poor man's version is using a 4.8 crank and rods. Your post doesn't sound very "poor mans".
Would a LS3 block bored with a 4.8L crank be more cost effective? i.e. aftermarket but entry level pistons/rods be cheaper than destroking a LS7?
-
All good points. Poor = production or production style blocks & rotating assembly. Aftermarket heads & valve train.

As the title says, I've been toying with the idea of building a LS based 388 cu.in. engine for my C5. After seeing Detroit Speeds third gen and a few other BTR rides, I'm pretty hooked.
Typically these are LS7 based with a crank change. Id like to see if there is a cheaper way with a focus on valvetrain for turning the 8k rpms. I.E., LSNext block.
Any thoughts? I don't want to call an engine builder uneducated.

I have the Motorola Surfboard as well. Second one in 10 yrs, still fantastic.

that's a f'n win.

I sell equipment to companies that produce lottery tickets. Generally in a bundle, the store will make a rough 18-20% profit. The key is to be part of the 80% payout.
Buying a bundle is dumb.

Damn good polisher. I love mine.
GLWS, op.

Folding Power Mirrors. got rid of my county road driving anxiety with that one.

Regarding the NFA gun community (machine guns, suppressors, SBR, SBS). One thing that happened as a conspiracy theory was the notion that HPA and the SHARE Act were getting really close to having significant movement and or momentum and that this shooting has shelved one/both likely causing them to lose all momentum. For those that don't know, these bills/movements would make suppressors easier to obtain. Now, we know the shooter wasn't using suppressors. But there are implications of a stronger/higher death toll if he were (in the initial rounds fired).
Agreed. The last time the HPA was due to be voted on, a guy was shooting at politicians on the east coast during a retreat, IIRC.

unfortunately no, i was a one man show
Let me know when you're up next time, I'm local and need some time in the seat in my C5 to get a baseline.
-
I might just be able to take you up on that if you have a work space I could use. I am in Indy often.
Absolutely. 2 car garage with work bench etc. The car will go into storage end of October and be back out in May as far as timeframes. shoot me a pm whenever.
-
That's an awesome deal. I wish you were closer to Indy, Tim. If you ever want Saturday work and are over this way, my C5 could use your touch. I actually wont take it to anyone local because idiots.

That car is probably worth $1.6 millions dollars now.

Our Indiana SP has a 2012 GT500 and several 5.0's...purchased with taxpayer money.
