Think I'm just gonna keep these heads stock and see what kind of numbers I can get out of them and if I don't get where I want then down the road I'll buy a good set of heads

Was reading up on these 317 heads I have and am finding out that a lot of people are welding up the chambers to bump compression. I have talked to my machine shop and he says he can do just the welding for around 200 then I would take them and port/ polish and reshape the chambers and then let him finish the valves and any other work that would need done. Would it be worth doing all that to stay under budget?
I go to Norwalk about every Wednesday. At Larue is usually 2-3 tenths slower on a Friday night. But personal best before this was 13.02. But I have a fuel issue I think also. Makes car real inconsistent.

Should it need primed? Thought out should hold pressure. Should I put a check valve in line?? Or just change pump. I'm getting ready to build a new motor, but wanted to spray this one but obviously not if it has an issue
This is kind of what I was leaning towards. It does drop pressure when the key is off . Also starts hard about every other time but if you cycle the key 2-3 times it starts right up
I'm building an lq4 for the car soon. Hate to spend money on a tune now and then... drives ok just sluggish after a shift. Out only has 2 02 sensors also. I think it would have a tune.
