As the title says, I have 4 RX8 wheels (18 x 8 50mm offset). They have some curb rash that you can see in the pictures, but they run straight and true. The tires are Nitto NT01 R-compound tires (225/40). They have about 1/2 of the tread left, as they are now down to where shaved tires start. I ran this setup for NASA Time Trial and they made a big difference over street tires in terms of grip and durability. Street tires just wear away too fast and get slippery when hot. They are also much more predictable than street tires. I am looking to get $550 OBO for the set. I will separate them, but you will have to pay the dismounting fee. http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5104.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5108.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5107.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5106.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5105.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5114.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5116.jpg http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5117.jpg

If you are doing an HPDE, since it is not a timed event, some insurance companies will cover it. I would call them and check. I think Geico covers HPDEs because a guy we know crashed in April at Mid Ohio, and Geico is covering his car. Since I am in Time Trial, I am out of luck if I wreck.

Competition is a relative thing. I was able to lap at 1:43.9 in the Mazdaspeed 3. I believe the M3 will be faster. Most cars in C and D are slower than that, but if someone with a truly prepped car comes, then they can get down to 1:41 or so. I have not seen him in a while, but Bill Brees has a Mazdaspeed Protege that he drove to a 1:42.8 last year in TTD. I am usually happy to be faster than the TTE crowd. That is where the competition really is.

Max, learn to spell my name. Its Okami. I will be there in the M3 in TTD. I'm coming for ya Tinman.

TTT. I have had a decent amount of interest, but no takers yet.

Price reduced to $65 OBO.

I have a question for Brian, or anyone that may know. People always talk about getting different HP numbers on different dynos. What kind of dyno does Dyno-Tune use? Oh, BTW, my stock M3 made 212 HP and 202FT-LBS. I was pretty happy with that. It makes me want to do some power mods now though. Must...fight...the...urge.

Just for reference, take a look at this kit. http://www.turbo-kits.com/mr2_turbo_kits.html The turbo is different, but otherwise it only has a tuned ROM, lower temp thermostat, and a fuel pressure regulator. I wonder if you can just get a tuned rom from a place like this. I also think a fuel pressure regulator might help because at WOT the car should be open loop. Otherwise, in closed loop mode, the ecu should be able to adjust fuel delivery even if you alter the fuel pressure. +1 for checking injectors. What about checking the O2 sensor or water temp sensor too?

TTT. Make me an offer. I want this out of my garage.

I am going to sleep in this Saturday. Reynoldsburg is far from home anyway.

Cancel that, this is still available.

It is an 10" sub. I do have the wire harness that plugs into the white connector in the picture. I did a little more research, and based on the overall dimensions of the sub and the fact that it has a built in amp, it looks to be this model: T102A-80 Specifications Woofer Size: 10" Efficiency: 104dB* Dimensions: 21.1" X 10.3" X 12.2" Magnet Size: 28 oz. Weight: 25 lbs. Rated Output: @ 4 ohms 80 Watts @ 2 ohms 120 Watts (w/optional slave unit ) (Measurement performed with 100Hz input @ 13.8 Volts battery voltage and <0.2% THD+N) Detailed A-80 Amplifier Specifications Crossover 18dB per octave low pass electronic crossover continuously variable from 60Hz to 250Hz. Filter Type Third order Butterworth filter. Input Sensitivity High Level 2.4 Volts to 25 Volts RMS. Low Level 100mV to 1 Volt RMS. I'm in. Then I will go off to the dyno to get a baseline.

I have this sub that was in my car when I purchased it. It works great, and has and internal amp, adjustable crossover, and volume knob. I am asking $65 OBO (was $85). http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5097.jpghttp://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx18/bkirkbride/CIMG5100.jpg Thanks

For work I have used a shop that was pretty reasonable. I think they charged just $25 to do some Rockwell C hardness testing in a bout 6 places on a piece of steel for me. They have lots of old machines, so it is not an impressive looking place, but that is the key to keeping down costs. You might want to give them a call (or another local machine shop to see what they say). Product Tooling Inc 4290 North 3 Bs and K Road, Sunbury, OH 43074-9580 (740) 524-2061 P.S. I am in no way affiliated with Product Tooling, but just had a good experience with them when they helped me out in a jam.

I think autozone will check your alternator for free to see if it is working right. It does certainly sound electrical.

I talked with Jay at Andrews Racing and decided to get Hawk DTC-60 FR and Hawk HT-10 RR. He thinks I will overwhelm the HT-10 on the front, and the car stops better with some front brake bias. I picked up some stainless steel brake lines and Motul 600 brake fluid from bimmerworld to complete the brake package. So we will see how this works out. I would boil the fluid in my MS3 once a session, and it just ate front brakes. Hopefully this setup on the M3 will be better and last longer.

This year at the April NASA event at Mid Ohio was my first opportunity to be an instructor for the HPDE 1 group. If anyone else out there is an instructor, I am interested to know how you find the NASA organization. I have asked to be an instructor for the next event at BeaveRun, and the head instructor sent me a one sentence email saying he would send out the info for instructors Monday. Now it is Wed and still nothing. I hear the event fills up, so I want to register, but I have to wait to hear about instructing. It seems like NASA is pretty disorganized a lot of the time. Thoughts?

Car Movie: Truth in 24. You can download it free on iTunes. It is a documentary about the Audi team and their win at Le Mons over the Peugeot team. I thought it was great. There is one part where there is in-car footage, and one of the drivers walks you through a lap. What they do is simply amazing.

If you don't have a hair dryer, you can use an iron in a pinch. Just hold it an inch or two away to let the heat soften the adhesive. If that scares you, parking the car with the decal south facing on a hot day might get it nice and warm too. As a guy, I never had a hair dryer, so I used the iron method to debadge an impreza years ago.

You might want to try Harbor Freight at 161 and Cleveland Avenue. They have lots of tools there and they are really cheap. My friend picked up some torx bits that fit on a ratchet there, so you could just stick an extension on them to reach the VW bolt. I think they come in a set. Odds are that if you go there you will see lots of tools you want. Good Luck

Hello All, I am putting feelers out now to see what kind of opportunities may be out there. I will be graduating in August from Capital with an MBA. Currently I am an engineer and program manager at a Honda supplier, and also a proficient Japanese speaker. I am hoping to find a managerial position in business planning or in the field of marketing where I can use my unique mix of skills. I would appreciate any leads you may have. In addition I am thinking about starting a consulting business on the side with a focus on marketing and/or R&D and testing since these are my main areas of expertise. As I will be starting out in this new venture with a limited track record, I will be offering several hours of free consulting to prove my value. Anyone interested in gaining some strategic planning or insights without incurring the cost of a full time employee should shoot me a PM. Thanks for your consideration. -Ben
