  1. Word. Best of luck with the rebuild. I recently tore down a sonata to replace a cylinder head because a timing belt left go only 1k outside of its service period only to find the valve had broken, put a hole in the piston, and welded itself in the top of the piston.
  2. are you sure your straightedge is straight?
  3. i looked under basic specs and such, it was labeled head gasket surface allowance or something like that
  4. spec max is 120 thou, service is 240 thou
  5. We've got am f20 sitting at the shop, I believe it needs a tiny bit of work, I will confirm tomorrow with pictures. Motor is direct from Honda with 0 driven miles.
  6. I've had no luck with them what-so-ever. I could never get one to hold less than 21psi. They use a series of passages and nipples to select boost but it doesn't actually work. When you call them they tell you to try a few different things that they're not sure will work or not. Then you call back and they tell you that you need to build a wastegate priority manifold. Their BOVs leak horrendously too. I had high hopes for their products but I'm just going to stick to my tial 38s for now.
  7. He's speaking on the exhaust side, not intake. He is suggesting that you're dp/exhaust isn't restrictive enough and the exhaust it not flowing through the WG as it should and is causing the boost creep.
  8. That looks like the same type of manifold I had on my car, never had any boost creep issues on the car. I'd get a new WG asap. Tial or turbosmart are great models. Stay away from synapse.
  9. FIAL as in fake tial, was wondering what WG you have? The change of turbo manifold can contribute to boost creep. Some manifolds are made with WG priority whereas others aren't.
  10. No air should be coming out of that hole except the air being displaced by the diaphragm moving up and down. Try moving your boost reference to the outlet of the turbo, length of hose can have an effect on boost creep and WG response.
  11. where is your boost reference for the WG?
  12. Did you buy this off little tony at forcedfab?
  13. Lookin good packie, keep on at it
  14. imo the v160 getrag isnt as fun to drive because the gear ratios are all fucked. If you do the sway, order a 1jz swap also and sell the 1jz motor. The 1j r154 will bolt up to the 2j and hold plenty of power
  15. word. as much shit talking as SRD??? lol
  16. Yah... I'm looking to race some people when i get the cams/intake in
  17. Yah, seems like every forum has been dying lately, thats why I migrated over here.
  18. Howd that map ecu work out for you? Was it a 2 or the origional? The 1 or whatever its called is garbage
  19. It was a a good learning experience. I modeled it up in CAD: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/wesintakepic.jpg then had it all cut out and had it welded together. This particular intake utilized stock runners. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/12-22-08_1447.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/12-22-08_1917.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/12-22-08_1918.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/01-06-09_2246.jpg I'm currently working on one for the sr20det, but putting alot more math behind this one than the last. We'll see how it comes out. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/intake2-3.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/Stebbins97/intake1-3.jpg
