Here's my 2c
Did Urban know about this? Looks like it. Is playing the innocent card the only way he will keep his job? Yes. Is there any hard evidence that he did know about it? No. Should he be fired based on hearsay? Well that seems to be what it may come down to.
I think Ohio State is doing the right thing by putting Meyer on leave while they sort through the details and build their case one way or the other. It gets the media and society off their back temporarily and gives them a chance to take all of this in.
If Meyer plays the "I had no idea" card and no evidence is found, the University can still fire him but they will owe him $40 million because it will be a no cause firing and they will be breaking contract. Whether we believe Meyer knew about it or not, I don't think we can fire him unless we have hard evidence showing he knew. If we start firing people based on he said she said, we are going to go down a slippery slope.
A few interesting things: Hypothetically speaking, if Meyer DID know about it, but she called the police and chose not to press charges, what exactly is Meyer supposed to do? If she chose to not press charges because she wanted to keep the income, would that have turned Meyer into the bad guy if he did fire him back then? I'm trying to understand Courtney's position here. It seems like she didn't want anything done all these years and now all of the sudden? After the '09 incident which was described to be really bad, she stayed with him and had another kid with the guy. I'm not blaming the victim but it all seems odd to me.
