Yes it sounds like a wheel bearing issue. Usually if you're going around a curve one way or the other the sound will either get worse or quieter depending on which way you're turning.
At any rate, they arent difficult to replace. Its either 3 or 4 bolts that hold it on after you take the cv shaft nut, brake caliper and rotor off. By turning the wheel to the left or right, you should be able to get to the bolts using a socket, ratchet, and extension.
