  1. More info - the trailer has been stripped of everything of value (mag wheels, electric jack, winch, tools, etc). Since the insurance company paid my Dad out he won't recover anything. Hopefully at least an arrest is made and someone gets in some trouble for it. If they can trace it back to the person who originally stole the trailer I may have a small chance of recovery some of the $20,000 of stuff that I had inside it when it was stolen. I'm not holding my breath though.
  2. my take on it is that it is very easy to register and legally use a stolen trailer. The state of Ohio requires very little information and you can register a trailer without a title/VIN number. They are fairly easy to steal and it is hard to find a good used trailer. My Dad looked for a good used trailer for 3 months before finally buying a brand new one.
  3. Just heard that the trailer has been found in the Greenville, Ohio area. A guy there bought it from a guy in Columbus. Police are now looking for the guy in Columbus!
  4. Last night a bunch of stuff that was on the trailer was found illegally dumped in a dumpster near Polaris. I am optimistic that the trailer was not scrapped and is somewhere in the Columbus area. Please keep an eye out for it!
  5. Everyone please be on the lookout for my Dad's stolen car trailer: http://www.kptechnologies.com/pictures/trailer.jpg It's a white 18' Haulmark enclosed trailer. It has "Prostreet", "Dayton, Ohio" and the Chevy bow tie on both sides of it. It was stolen from my Verizon store in Dayton on Miller Lane (75 and 70 intersection) between 9:30P on Thursday July 11th and 8:00A on Friday July 12th. Someone cut the lock off with a pair of bolt cutters and drove off with it. Inside the trailer luckily there was no car. But, there were two very large external Verizon Wireless signs with the Verizon check marks. One sign was 18' and the other was around 12'. I'm guessing they will both end up in scrapyards. If you see this trailer please call me ASAP at 937 430 0284. Thank you, Kevin Pierson
  6. Any runners here? There is a 5k for a great cause May 12th, 2012 at Griggs Resevoir in Upper Arlington. More info can be found here: http://www.averygatorrun.com/index.html The Avery Gator Run is a fundraising event to make a difference in the life of Nathan Kohrmann, a 3rd grader at Avery Elementary in Hilliard. Nathan has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease and is awaiting a life-saving kidney transplant. My sister-in-law is the race director and is trying to make this a very successful event!
  7. I wouldn't walk away from a house simply because it has dropped in perceived valued from $180K to $150K. There are a TON of houses that have dropped that much, or more - you are not alone. We paid $211 for our house, dropped $30K in adding a 4th bedroom and full bath while finishing the basement, and the house recently appraised for $190K. Two thoughts regarding your situation - you mentioned that your property value has gone down, but your taxes have gone up. How is this so? What does the county appraise your house at? I've challenged county appraisals before and had a property reduced from $9x,000 to $6x,000 and all it cost me was a $400 bank appraisal. Well worth it. If you could get the county to lower the taxes on the house it would allow you to pay it off faster (by paying more on principle) and could help get you closer to the break even point. Second, how much do you owe on the house still? What is your interest rate? I would explore all financing offers to get the absolute best deal to again pay off extra principle and try to get to the break even point. I, personally, would never allow any family member to buy a house for me and in return pay them rent. Too risky and stressful.
  8. "Open" is an acceptable response. I am a hiring manager and I've passed on resumes where the desired salary was higher then are most experienced employees but have never passed on someone who stated they were willing to be flexible. Where I work we have salary ranges and we have to stay inside them regardless. However, if someone puts they are willing to make $10 an hour and the salary band is $11-$15 we will hire them at $11. The other side of this, as someone else already mentioned, is your experience. If your resume is solid the salary requirement will be less of an issue for an employer.
  9. Wanna come to Dayton? Our store is right off of 75 near 70. What phones are you looking for?
  10. You can change your plan at any time. If she is on a plan that doesn't fit her they can change it, you just can't leave without paying the termination fee. The only restrictions are if you have a phone that requires data. Some phones that "require" data when they are sold can have the data package removed if you call customer care.
  11. I got each of my groomsmen Craftsman grill tool sets and then had each spatula engraved with the persons initials. Picking out gifts was much harder then I thought it would be. I wanted something practical and memorable - hard to find something that fits both of those for a group of 6 men.
  12. We just call them "creepy crawlies". They are crazy fast and make huge messes when smashed. They like to come up through drains (which is why you see them in tubs and sinks) and they like humid places like bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. I haven't seen one that big in my house but we used to see them all the time in my basement apartment at BGSU.
  13. Whats the retail on one of those? Might grab one each for me and my wife!
  14. If you take off the $30K tip and the $11K in taxes it's not that bad....
  15. A locked up gun or an unloaded gun isn't going to save me if someone comes in at night. Locking up a gun is as good as not having one. I'm not being naive, I'm being realistic. If the gun is accessible to me in the event of a home invasion it will be accessible to others (and thus the concern for my 2 year old to shoot herself or someone else). I was once told you can get a fingerprint activated gun safe that would slide under a bed that would be somewhat secure and somewhat accessible but I have yet to see such a creation. Obviously if a guy/girl was standing with a gun drawn I wouldn't make a move towards the bat!
  16. I have considered that in the past - but we live in a nice area and the chances of an accidental shooting are far higher then a shooting for protection! We also live in a small neighborhood full of armed military people - I'll have to call a neighbor in for support God forbid something ever happen.
  17. I keep a louisville slugger tucked away in a somewhat accessible area by my bed. Chances are very low an intruder would ever see it. If the opportunity presents itself I will use it to buy enough time to get my wife out of the house. The only kink in the plan is my daughter is upstairs and we are downstairs. I would not leave the house without her.
  18. Very unique! How's it ride?
  19. for $1,000,000 I would buy a lambo to go with the lambo doors.
  20. If it were me I would buy an older used laptop off of Ebay. Find something that is popular and there are a lot of. I've been using Dell D510s for years. You can buy them for ~$100-150 in working order. They run XP, have a serial port, and parts are widely available for them. They were a huge corporate favorite so there are a lot of refurb units around. They also used standard hard drives that you can pick up for next to nothing. They are a little on the large size but I'm sure there are some smaller Dells or IBMs out there that would be a great fit. I, personally, would not consider a netbook for life in a car. Their small size is nice, but their durability would concern me.
  21. I wonder what they pay a month in insurance.... haha
  22. More stuff from the car: The car runs a UTEC "stand alone" ECU. The UTEC controls the engine directly over 1PSI and then returns to the stock ECU when boost drops below the setpoint. The output of the UTEC runs to a PC in the trunk and then the PC displays key parameters on the stock navi screen. I can switch between the stock navi and the added PC by holding down the "ENTER" button on the navi system for 2 seconds. The computer was mounted to a piece of plexi glass that was custom fit to center of the spare tire. If I ever need the spare it takes about 2 minutes to pull the PC out and disconnect all the wires. I was originally concerned about heat damage but so far I haven't had any issues. I have a couple fans blowing right over the motherboard, but still there is little room to draw fresh air from after the trunk mat is put back down. http://www.kptechnologies.com/images/carputer/keyboard.jpg http://www.kptechnologies.com/images/carputer/carputer1.jpg http://www.kptechnologies.com/images/carputer/carputer3.jpg http://www.kptechnologies.com/images/carputer/display.jpg By using this system I was able to not install any visible gauges in the car. I do have a boost gauge and wideband stashed away in the center console. One of my main goals was to keep the car as stock looking as possible while making it a bit more fun to drive.
  23. Any idea how much current the vacuum solenoid requires? I could pretty easily set up a dial on the board to select TPS trigger point and then have a programmable RPM. We typically run (-) 500mA outputs from the modules. If the vacuum solenoid draws less then 400mA no relay would be required. If you need more then that a relay can be added to the board, but I typically like to make them external in case they fail (much easier to replace a $3 relay then a $xx board).
  24. Do the setpoints need to programmable or can they be fixed (ie hard coded)? Either way I don't think it would be too difficult to do. Not sure what your current application is but you should be able to combine the two outputs to make 1 output with 1 or 2 relays.
