  1. TireRack line up should give you some ideas about availability. I'm clueless about drag radials.
  2. I guess for the sake of originality, any Firestone would fit the bill; regardless of its shortcomings.
  3. BTW, what kind of car uses 245/50/16 ?
  4. I didn't have balance problem with mine. I have no real knowledge of all-suck, although I suppose it's hard to go wrong with Michelin Pilot A/S Plus.
  5. I tend to go with narrow-purpose tires, i.e. summer tires for warmer months, winter tires for colder months, and slicks for decimating cones. Unfortunately, that size is really an oddball. The only summer street tire I would pick from TireRack lineup is the Goodyear GS-D3 and I actually have experience with it. However, price of admission is quite high. If the size could be changed to 255/50/16, there are several DOT-R (for drag and road-course duties) choices for less than the GS-D3 in 245/50/16. Toyo R888 would be my choice for a streetable road-course tire, or if the car would see drag duty, there are some choices for streetable drag radials. I checked Nitto and Vredestein, none carry 245/50/16 in their summer lineups.
  6. One is a summer tire and the other is all-suck. What category are you looking for ? Personally, I won't spend my money on any of those two.
  7. Purchase price would need to be below $500, granted that it would need "parts" to make it run.
  8. More things you can do to save a few bucks: - By not getting a temporary tag, you will save the $15. - If you have a valid license plate, BMV can transfer it over; however the name on the license plate and the name on the title must match. This may save you up to $50 until the plate expires. - If you register it in a county that doesn't charge additional registration, you may save up to $15 annually. State always charges $35 annually. - Put the address in the title where the county has a lower sales tax, i.e. the county that Lancaster is located (is it just Lancaster Co ? CMIIW) charges 6.5% sales tax, but Delaware Co charges 7.25%.
  9. Tax and registration are based on the county of owner declared residence, not BMV location.
  10. Mind-boggling ... fifteen inch wheels. I think none of my vehicles can use 15" wheels, not even the truck.
  11. Use a magnet if you must. Unlikely they are steel.
  12. 270S to 161E is my 85-mph ramp but the truck can only pull a sustained 70 mph because of the fourth (last) joint; solid axle catches air while turning.
  13. I meant the segment of Sunbury Rd. north of Central College Ave.
  14. My wife just drove through that exact section of road in the M3 about 10 minutes ago and she didn't say anything about it being slippery.
  15. What is the purpose of the car ? Street driving ?
  16. I LOVE the Centerline California Smoothie. Unfortunately, a 20" pair likely cost more than your truck. http://centerlinewheels.com/images/wheels/medium/20060725101340_smoothie.jpg http://centerlinewheels.com/images/gallery/92K1500_500x280.jpg http://www.s10forum.com/classifieds/data/8/P9072023.JPG http://image.truckinweb.com/f/11878871/0901tr_01_z+1986_chevy_c30_crew_cab+right_front_angle.jpg
  17. I think that's not sonic boom, it's more like compression wave.
  18. Why not go with 16" wheels ? Lighter, nicer ride, even lower price for both tire and wheel, and less likely to be damaged by a pothole.
  19. You said the car was black. Is this a different car ? Has water leaked into the interior ? Has it ever been in an accident ? What's the condition of the seats under those covers ?
