  1. That's good to know you don't have to be a god of tuning to get things dialed in. I know most know are pretty user friendly and there is a lot of support out there for people learning to do it themselves. Given I'll likely take mine to someone for a dyno tune if I ever get to the big single...because it will be a very big single lol What would you recommend for a gap? To be honest I just googled the 1jz spark plug gap, and a few people recommended a guy with very similar mods to run .028 so that is where I got my idea for that at. What would you recommend? The bad thing about tuning it is that I've almost had to adjust things so much I feel like I'm doing something wrong, but my AFR's are in safe areas, and still extremely rich at WOT, as in 10.0-10.5 across the entire rpm range from 3000-7000. Yep, it was definitely me. And I was more than likely driving like a complete jackass to go pick up a mirror for my Silverado I'm trying to sell lol.
  2. The new ones I just put in I gapped to .28. Before that with the 6's I had it at .28 as well. I have an Apexi AFC Neo. It's kind of an all in one, I know the basic's of tuning and what to shoot for, and likely it's just enough to get me by on a very rough street tune. It had been tuned before but on a very hot day and it was quite a few years ago, and he wasn't sure on how much boost it was on either. I checked all the coils pretty intensely last night when I had them off for the plugs, no cracking or anything that stuck out other than a bit of dirt I cleaned off. I didn't run into any issues last night with missing or anything else. The only issue I'm having now is a very low and rough idle. It's not missing but it stays at 500-650 rpm. My voltage is good and the battery and alternator are both good, I've tested them on two separate units and both came back as good. I'm kind of at a loss now since that's the only issue I'm having. I put about 2 hours of driving and went out on 270 to do a few pulls on 1 bar just to make sure it's gone and it is.
  3. Same here. I actually was curious as to which standalone you were running? And did you install it yourself? If so, if the funds are there this winter I'm considering doing one and could definitely need a hand or advice from someone with experience in that area.
  4. I'm pretty sure the PO had it done before, a lot of stuff that I've seen while doing other work has seem to be done right, which usually is a rarity on half of swapped cars, at least the ones I have seen.. Other than this I've had no other issues in the month I've had it. Other than one little mishap but that was me being an idiot, etc. Oh and the oil filter is a bitch, other than that no complaints lol. Maybe once I get my suspension setup where I want it to be I'll get some monster injectors and a big snail to sneak in there after a standalone, or just wait until I get out of school and build myself something worthwhile.
  5. Yep! And it doesn't he had pretty much the whole lot of 2J parts for it but I just couldn't swing the money, even with the killer prices he was throwing at me. I'll just list the major ones of the top of my head, all he did except the AEM Wideband UEGO. Blitz FMIC/piping HKS SSQV BOV Full 3" Catless exhaust Blitz Nur-Spec Cat-back 440cc injectors Aeromotive FPR Wally 255 I believe Apexi AFC NEO Apexi EBC few other..4.30 rear end, lowering springs. I've got winter tires and wheels for it now, doing a few things here and there to spruce it up and make it my own.. As far as the plugs goes, I went back with the NGK BKR 6's that were in there originally. It's running better than ever and I've been slowly adjusting the tune, especially the part-throttle. The Apexi unit doesn't do too much, but its making me a little more comfortable seeing something other than a 16.5 AFR at part throttle
  6. But I have stock twins. Not trying to do a big single until it can be done right. I wont be comfortable until I have twin in tank and a standalone ECU. I know some say it's not neccesary, but I'd rather just do it right.
  7. It definatly helps. I actually messed up I went to 7's instead of staying with 6's. I already pulled two plugs, eating dinner now so I'm gonna recheck the gap with the ones in it compared to the old ones. They are NGK BRK7E'S in it now. It had NGK BKR6ES'S So here in a few I'm gonna finish pulling all of them and then grab the exact same as the originals. Gap them identical, and then see if it is fixed. It does have a low, and rough idle, staying around 500-600. The AFR is 15.8-16.5 at idle
  8. I've got coppers in it now..and go ahead and move it, i'll take no offense lol
  9. Well, to keep things simple I'll list them from most serious to least..only 2 for right now, but I'm sure more will come up 2 weeks ago, I changed the plugs. He said he pretty much had not changed them since 2007, so it was definitely due, although it only had around 10,000 miles put on it in that time. I stuck with the same exact plugs, but after doing some research online I went with heat range 6 instead of 7. This actually helped a lot, and the only negative I had was a bit of spar blow out under full boost during WOT at 4200-4500 RPM's and it wasn't too terrible, but it lasted only a few days and went away. Over the past few days I've started having a high speed miss under boost at WOT. I'm back on the low boost setting (.8 Bar) instead of high boost. It does them under both settings however. My wideband however stays right in the mid-10's and maybe hits 11's, just like it did before the issue started occurring. I've checked all my wiring and everything seems to be fine. I'm going to pull my coils tonight to check for any cracking, and if there is none, throw the old plugs back in to see if that gets rid of it at all. I've read on a few Supra/1JZ Forums that a capacitor within the ECU can actually go bad and cause this, but I'd rather not delve into an ECU fix just yet.. The second is I'm throwing code 42, which is a speed sensor code. I highly doubt they are related, but I hate having a CEL on. Thanks
  10. I have a feeling I'll likely get flamed for posting this in here, but I have a feeling I'll get more views and potential answers in here if it doesnt get moved, so mods and admins, please bare with me! I've got a 1JZ swapped MK3 Supra, bought it swapped, and just have a few questions for someone with a lot of 1JZ experience, or at least that have some answers to some issues I'm having, most will likely be better off being Pm'd due to the longevity of most the questions. Even 2JZ experienced members could likely help me. I know both these motors run into somewhat the same issues. Thanks in advance everyone.
  11. That's pretty incredible really lol. I was pretty disappointed with my passes, the DA was at least 2 times better than the last time I took mine out, and I put time into tuning and tweaking the EBC, but still to no avail my times didn't improve. I've never ran at NTR before, only at Kil-Kare in Xenia, Oh, but I wasn't at all impressed with the first 60'. I was only in the right lane on all the passes, but the best I could crank down was a 2.1, at Kil Kare I was pulling a 1.8 on street tires with no problems.
  12. Pretty sure I saw you make a run or two, but there were more fast Honda's and Acura's there than I am used to lol. All the quick cars out there were definitely respectable, especially the Honda's and Acura's, back in Dayton the 'fastest' thing around was an H22 Accord...still was a MAYBE a very high 13 second car. Looks like you did a hell of a job on it, good luck tearing it down, and hopefully you get some bigger and better goodies for it!
  13. I'll be there with a few others in my Supra..hopefully will have a slammed stealth at the minimum, a buddy talked about getting a few guys he knows with evo's, an s2000, cobalt ss and misc. other stuff to roll out as well
  14. Hopefully can. Did the rust delete today so I'm feeling a bit better about it lol
  15. Seems like a pretty awesome shindig from the looks of it. I'll have to swing by some time and check it out. Only about 10-15 minutes from where I'm at too!
  16. I updated my 4 today with the iOS6 and couldn't be happier honestly. Supposedly the GPS now talks..I've been asking for that shit since day 1! That's the only thing I liked about the Androids more than I did about the iPhone. You could plug in the address and the phone would do all the work for you. Speak, do the next step, etc. My phone it seems like I'm always hitting the next arrow. It's really gonna be a help over the next few weeks as well while I'm still learning my way around here. As far as overlooked things, the only ones I didn't see in your post was the headphone jack was moved, and the USB connector is different. Which is gonna be a PITA for docking stations, etc., but Apple is gonna make a killing selling the adaptors that all the Hipster freaks will buy since it's "Genuine Apple, and no 'knock off.'" I'm sticking with my i4 as long as it let's me
  17. I tried out a friends' roomates'...wasn't too impressed to be honest. Spent about an hour with it and to me it just seems like a thinner, longer 4S with a little quicker speeds. As with my 4 I'm sure the speeds will slow eventually. He claimed it had a better camera but to be honest I couldn't tell a difference. My 4's camera does just fine. All the high res. photos mean is more memory taken up, which means less apps, etc. Long story short, unless you've got a free upgrade, it's not worth the extra few hundred in my eyes. But then again, I'm not as big into tech stuff as I was a few years ago.
  18. Hahah, maybe if I get some of the small surface rust showing up around my FMIC I'll head over to the next one. I'm assuming that's a reference to the Sawmill meet :lolguy:
  19. Well that's great to know. I'm sure I won't be the worst there...there's always gonna be that 17 year old with the rusted Honda hatch and no exhaust.. Oh, and Forevermaker, check your PM's in a few minutes, uploading some pics of some leather seats to see what you could do with them..saw your winterization post.
  20. This looks like a meet where my peon of a Supra will be parked a few blocks away...hahah
  21. I've heard of that as well. Is it usually every Saturday morning? A few friends I know up here said they've gone a couple times and it's usually a good turn out with some not so ricey things out there, to put it nicely lol.

    Weekly meets?

Looking around quite a bit on here, trying to find when some decent meets are occuring on a somewhat regular basis. I've heard of the Sawmill meet on Saturdays, but beyond that is there any others around here worth going to?

  24. Yeah, his girl lives out that way. He's a real cool dude, always down to talk unless he's at work...but usually you'll see him out that way around 8 or 9p or 4am lol.
  25. Hey all. I'm fairly new to the area and new to the Forum. Moved up here due to several personal and family reasons from the Dayton, Oh area. Just trying to get involved with some meets over this way, Dayton is a long way to drive just for a decent meet haha. I'm currently driving a 1992 Toyota Supra. It's a Canadian Produciton vehicle and features some pretty rare options as well..Also I have a 2007 GSX-R 600 with a 750 swap planned for the winter..more on those below.. I picked the Supra up about a month ago, just after I moved up here, I used to be a big F-Body guy, my most recent being a 2001 Trans Am 6-speed, full bolt ons, tune and a few appearance goodies as well. It dyno'd right at 345/350 to the wheels..the dyno was hit or miss on accuracy so who knows..times were constant at high 12's..best being 12.85@117. The Supra is a fairly clean 1JZ-TT swap done by the previous owner, he barely did any of the work himself, but was the tool fetcher and extra hand for most of it..it still needs a few small things ironed out, including new turbos sometime on down the line, not too bad at the current moment in time, but it sat for a year while he was in Iraq, so the seals are a bit dried up, just trying to go into damage control and prolong them.. but it's reliable and a quick D/D. It has 440cc injectors, fuel regulator, an older HKS SSQV, Walbro 255, an eBay universal FMIC kit from the looks of it, Apexi goodies in the cab, and a 3" exhaust from the downpipe back to a Blitz Nur-Spec Axle or Cat Back..the motor internals are stock however..the previous owner had dyno sheets of it from a few years back, 340hp/335tq. The bike is nothing special, typical sprockets and power commander combo. Special Edition Blue/White paint, and I custom painted the rims to a blue/white to break it up a bit. Not slammed or stretched until the 750 gets in. I'll try and get some pictures up, sorry about the crappy iPhone quality, yet to unpack the good camera from the move. Oh, and about the stealth in the pics, its a good friend of mine's. 1992 RT/TT AWD, AWS slammed, Cobra rims, KSport coils, Complete JDM driveline swap, motor, trans, rear end, etc. Interior has Bride Lo Max's with a 6 point cage colored white with silver glitter for a little extra kick lol...and a Zebra print headliner..... http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2518_zps34ee5c22.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2515_zps0512b550.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2493_zpsf2c0efa7.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2489_zpse8fbc5f6.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2533_zps848ce09c.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2523_zps0a42443a.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_2522_zpsc9593a47.jpg http://i1053.photobucket.com/albums/s474/geeesammy/IMG_1977_zpsbcd96c50.jpg Hopefully you guys enjoy the pics, and sorry for the lack of an intake on the engine bay pic..forgot to put it back on before I took the picture
