My company has some open contract positions in the automotive industry with requirements ranging from High School Degree to Associates in Auto/Engineering. Job duties cover basic vehicle mechanic work including changing suspension/brakes/tire mounting/AC evac and recharge/building jigs. Technical skills in the areas of data acq and analysis/strain gauges/soldering/high speed video and lighting installation on cars. Must be proficient in MS Office (excel, powerpoint, word, etc). Must have and maintain a valid drivers license as there will be some vehicle dynamic testing involved. These positions are in a professional office environment (not in a garage/race shop) and you will be working directly with automotive engineers. Contracts are mixed ranging from 6 months to 5+ years in length. We offer competitive pay, benefits, 3 weeks paid time off, paid holidays, etc. If you are interested send me your resume at eric.corll@lumenance.com and we can talk further. http://www.lumenance.com

Cost is a factor of distance, covered vs. uncovered, how soon you need it, etc. I recently shipped a car from Cali to Columbus, door to door, uncovered for $745 in 7 days. I got quotes from $700 - 1200 and was harassed by several companies for weeks following my quote process. I used Quicken Auto Transport and it was a positive experience.

Thank you! Will call him tomorrow.

Followup... went with a diesel for the Zinc content for an immediate oil change. Will run Brad Penn this fall for winter storage. So far engine seems to like it.

:fuckyeah:This is going to be good For wiring, do you plan to keep BMW immobilizer system or flash DME to bypass and use other security measures?
-
Tried search and it was all threads on shipping guns, maybe 2nd cup of coffee will help me...

Just picked up a project from LA, anyone have any recommendations on shipping companies? Trying to avoid going thru a brokerage, looking for economy transport, timing is not critical.

Thanks for the input guys. This article is a little intense (33 pages of oil analysis) but has some great info for older tappet style engines: http://www.widman.biz/uploads/Corvair_oil.pdf The conclusion was to look for a Group II 10W30 CI-4 oil. More of a tractor type oil. I don't want to mess with additives because I feel you can select the proper oil and get the benefits of wear protection, lubrication and detergents. Think I have some aisle browsing and label reading to do....

Anyone have experience with old Windsor Ford 289-2V V8's? Car is driven <1000 miles in the summer only and stored in a detached garage in the winter. No idea what is in the car now. I think I want to stay conventional and will do an oil change before winter storage. Researched BITOG and maybe looking for a 10W30 HDEO if I can find conventional. Lots of opinions about zinc additives and flat tappet engines. Anyone with experience or recommendations?

 If I get a SC can we be friends? Congrats on the decision, the downlow TQ will probably be much better for a DD and the 997TT is much better looking than the E92!

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=880264&highlight=bearings Not that common and failure usually comes from 2 camps, either SC'd or low mileage garage queens. But a new S65 is around $25k so still something to monitor. I'm running LubiMoly 10w60.

Andy, I'm "DAS V8" with the straight-piped E92. Let me know if you'd like to check out my car and I'm happy to talk rod bearings, I have blackstone oil reports from my last 3 oil changes and I'm currently at 78k on my 2008. I have no worries about my motor turning into a $25k paperweight. -Eric

Another +1 for a great group. I ran Autobahn CC with these guys last summer and it was a blast, first class facility with 21 turns in 3.56 miles! -
E36 platform (92-99) is a bargain for performance/value. M3's share many common parts with 3 series cars and there is tons of internet support. These cars don't put down the most power but its more about balance and high revs. Or just LS it :fuckyeah:

Still available? Helping an employee with his car search.

Any idea if oil pump nut was welded/lock-tighted/safety-wired? Heated seats? Looks like the switches are there on the console but hard to tell. Very clean for a 95!
-
I'll be there! And for anyone not aware of the Pikes Peak Odyssey, google it, it is legit.
-
Please tell the Ice story! Were you on A1A Beachfront Avenue?? I'm honestly not trying to call BS but it looks like the passenger door card he signed is new leather with no signature in the current-condition pic? Did you replace to save the signature?
-
Love these cars. Swapped my M3 for a day with a friend who had one of these, great 4-door DD and exhaust sound out of the V8.

Another question, and just being curious... you guys used to specialize in VR4/Stealth TT right, so why not just change out motor and sell legit? Would think it'd be an easy sell for you guys to make a few G's vs. a roller with blown engine?
-
Forwarded to some 3SI buddies that may be interested. One has a 94 Stealth TT with a solid engine and tweaked frame, could be a match made in CR heaven.
