  1. So, typical 100k service coming up on a friends completely stock WRX and he's finally thinking about a little bit of upgrading. Very price conscious person so bang for the buck is paramount here. Noticing a trend here that I have "frugal" associates? Timing Belt, Water Pump, new plugs, all the normal things you would do but what gives the best seat of the pants fun to the car without making it obnoxious as a DD? I know the exhaust on this model is a 2 cat system, is it an issue switching to a single cat from a later model? Let's set a limit of $700 for go fast parts as the other maintenance parts will eat up the rest of his budget. Hopefully this is just the start of his toying with the car. CAI + Downpipe + some sort of single cat back system?

Hmmmm it's definitely not raining right now and looks like a lot of people brought their toys out. Stopped into the store to pickup a few chemicals and I've already seen a slew of corvettes, a sexy lil Z and a very yummy GT-R...ah thank you spring!

I hear the gods are laughing at us with potential rain tonight! Got the LeMans out for a little cleaning and blowing off the dirt today...makes me want to do a spring time dance! Still some salt on the roads though and have to dodge snow melt puddles
  4. Off my old 97 328i that is now sold. Tires are currently mounted on them though they don't have much life left. The wheels themselves are in pretty solid condition. Currently sitting in the garage so ready to move for the right price. 2 are missing the BMW center cap sticker, will post photos of them on my ride as right now I don't have any pictures of them laying on the floor of my garage. http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u590/Midwestmodels/BMW/DSC01527_zps60b2ef28.jpg http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u590/Midwestmodels/BMW/DSC01516_zps2dc45a2f.jpg http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u590/Midwestmodels/BMW/DSC01503_zps42c246ee.jpg Looking to sell these as a set, would like $125 for the 4 of them. Items are located in one of garages on the north end of Columbus. I can get closeup photos as well if needed.
  5. I love it. Next generation of Mustang please take your cues from this! Can I has one?
  6. One of our north columbus locations has a Retail Parts Pro position available we are looking to fill within the next few weeks. Applicants would need to have solid mechanical car knowledge as well as EXCELLENT people/sales skills as you will be the lead salesman for the instore DIY business. Must be available to work nights/weekends, typical work week is 40-45 hours. This is a management position and will be a key carrying employee so previous experience in a similar role would be a plus. Feel free to PM or post.
  7. I actually really like the styling of the car, it's definitely more towards the younger crowd but all together the package is pretty well done. I'll also agree with everyone else on the FWD situation, could never see myself driving one. What all comes in the ST2 package you are getting aside from the seats and touchy thing?
  8. I've been there off and on over the last few months and am down for it. Also, willing to put some skin in the game if anyone wants to get a crazy horse racing thing going on that damn multiplayer horse breeding/racing game. Down for either location.
  9. Lol yes it is, I linked those that way as they were uploaded in high res didn't want to bog down the thread if they tried to load in full res. And yes that's water to air factory. Great little truck, blast to drive but terrifying in the same breath. Good and bad thing about driving "older" and rare some of the stuff on these is REALLY tough to find if you need parts. Please excuse the pictures, she'll be in pertier shape come car shows this spring/summer
  10. Cabin purge for N02 for those long uncomfortable drives? A little fun gas always improves the ride
  11. http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u590/Midwestmodels/DSC01529_zpsd5a943a0.jpg http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u590/Midwestmodels/DSC01570_zpse9207d8d.jpg http://i1323.photobucket.com/albums/u590/Midwestmodels/DSC01578_zps6d0a1baa.jpg For those of you who have been PMing me for photos of her, this is the ride in question. Not exactly clean but this was from the fall of last year before her hibernation.
  12. Let's say for the sake of arguement that I WERE to want something more of a drag/launch tire..obviously would have to be DOT for road use. But what am I looking at if I go that direction?
  13. Yep you've got it about right. Occassional high speed use of crappy tires=bad things happen. Higher end tires look better all glossed up and sitting pretty in a parking lot. And yes I have rotted off probably close to $2000 in tires on this thing already. Am I the only one who's spent money on a vanity part that I would never TRUELY put to hard use but will stubbornly purchase it anyway? Come on Man!
  14. May I refer back to the non-walmart tires? Mmmm street slicks DO sound yummy though
  15. Like I said it came with Firehawks on it origionally and with this thing I think staying purely stock is key. It barely gets driven as is and SELDOM anything hard enough to require real grip. 19000 miles the damn tires have ROTTED off it before they were burnt up...twice
  16. Sorry didn't see that question, trying to close the store down and post at the same time! 91 Syclone is the beast in question
  17. Unfortunately this little truck runs an odd size tire, hence why I figured I would post and get some opinions. Unfortunately back in the good 'ole days 17s weren't the standard and I want to keep this thing bone stock all the way down to the wheels and tires. Unfortunately Firestone doesn't make the EXACT Firehawks that came on it stock. Winter it spends hibernating, summers it spends going on little jaunts to the lake to go fishing or to car shows for people to scratch their heads over. It IS tempting to put some streetable slicks on it just for the pure entertainment factor of it, but ...again...the stock/unmolested thing.
  18. Honestly looks, ride and grip would be the only real qualifiers. Ride not such a big deal, price nothing crazy but I'm also not looking for some walmart specials. A nice aggressive looking pattern, won't send me off the road in the rain and I'm happy.
  19. The only type of weather this thing deals with is sunshine, maybe the occassional bout of rain as we run it back to the garage so it doesn't have to handle anything exciting. Speed rating typically you are going to get a much more aggressive/well built tire when they are rated higher. Not that I would ever intend to do such a speed (unless at a flying mile) but it's always good to have just in case
  20. Well this machine doesn't go ANYWHERE in the winter. Just looking to put some good meats on it for the occassional play day and car show. What would your choice on tires be POS Vett?
  21. The time as come to reshoe one of the rides and tire tech is one thing I am NOT really up on so as always, I brought it here. 245/50 R16s are the size in question, not a very common tire size. Right now I am looking at the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500s or the BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S. Looking for speed rating somewhere north of 160. Cost isn't a huge issue but I'm also not looking to drop anything crazy on a ride that doesn't get much road time. Wheels are the factories and are going to stay that way so no wheel/tire combos... any idears?
  22. Oddly the Saab 9-3 is exactly what started this search. So that is most certainly still in the running. Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of exposure to people who have done much tuning with them. Browsing through the interwebz there are a few sites out there of people who have done builds for these but certainly no where near the following there is with other Euro boxes with turbos like Audi/VW. Anyone have personal experience on these beyond basic day to day stuff and standard bolt ons?
  23. Will the Mods in the Miata ruin your ability to stay in your class? Personally I feel your pain on the multiple toys situation, my Mustang has fallen by the wayside for years while I poured money into my Stealth and other toys however there's a garage full of goodies for her this year. Is the Camera fun to YOU to drive at its present state? There's something to be said for working on something that's paid off too!
  24. 4 Runner SR5? You can get a solid one a couple years old, excellent ride very comfortable can do some off roading if you ever would do such a thing. Plenty of room for hauling yer shite around as well. I've owned my SR5 for 3 years and driven the hell out of it, only thing I have had to do on her is replace the front brakes at...198k. Otherwise it's driven through some rather nasty snow storms as well as done some mild off-roading. Just my 2cents
  25. More or less started this thread exactly for this purpose, so he can see things through our eyes. Brand loyalty is a great thing, but don't let it be your ONLY qualifier. A camero is certainly in the picture, he has extensive experience on similar motors and it gets his bowtie fetish all tingly. Hadn't thought of the Durango R/T...that's not a bad idea. Gets him big rumbly and some decent performance but can still kinda be used as a truck..good thought! Early 90s Dodge Shadow 2.5 Turbo anyone? lol
