  1. Lol. Right after I drained the turn signal fluid.
  2. Yeah this is my first DOHC, feels like you have to tear half the truck apart. I wouldn't have been surprised if the next line said "remove the tailights before unbolting the alt bracket" lol.
  3. Nice Cutlass very this morning, couldn't get a good pic. I love these cars. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/18/3e53628374ed8491de88a906801cc303.jpg
  4. Trade in or just purchase? Seems decent.
  5. Also a V fan, but partly because 50k+ makes no sense for my current situation. That being said, sexy car, and if it gets your jollies off and fits your situation, DO IT.
  6. That's nuts! Wonder where the white car ended up?
  7. Does anyone have a good source for a cheap straight edge? Doesn't look like harbor freight carries one.
  8. That sounds like a good idea, it may be fine, but I can't feel good about telling you to cover it up without checking. Hard to tell what kind of insulation is in there.
  9. You're going to want to skim that paint line with some mud and sand it flat, otherwise it'll show badly through your new paint. Basically with plaster, just scrape out any loose/bubbled spots and prime/patch them. If your worried about mold inside the wall, that's another story. I'll say that old lathe/plaster walks don't seem to mold as badly as old drywall, but I have no idea what you're dealing with there.
  10. To be completely honest, I don't get it, but mostly because I don't know Toyotas. I fault no one on a project and some real work invested in what they're in to, because "to each their own". I look forward to progress, and being enlightened about the world of classic Toyotas. Congrats!
  11. Clay, which NAPA are you going to? Did they say it would be a quick turnaround?
  12. What brand/type? There are a number of brands in that time frame with bad evaporators that are free to repair. Second on the condenser cleaning, it's amazing how much dust/dirt/hair they draw off the floor. Do Not Call capital city appliance, they suck. Look them up on BBB if you want, no company should respond to customers that way.
  13. So, NAPA in Newark can deck the heads and turn them around quickly for $100. Seems silly not to have them done, but am I making a mistake by not doing anything with the block?
  14. Thinking maybe it was leaking from those top coolant ports to the cylinders. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/12/712ac4c65510b29d66cd1abc56532191.jpg
  15. That's cool. I wonder if it gains him any business?
  16. Plugs weren't terrible, first was dry, other two were soaked of course. I meant to take pics, I'll get them tonight. I need to pick up a straight edge to check the heads.
  17. I just got the drivers side head off of the Toyota 3.4 dohc. This truck has a blown head gasket a year ago and I put a bottle of bars sealer in it and dd'ed it for a year with no smoke. I was hoping to see more obvious evidence of the sealers work. Anyway, what do you think the difference in piston appearance means? With gasket: http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/0501ecc708f6feb5287181c24c8b8a88.jpg Gasket removed, no scraping: http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/752a68b5db1d934f20a7a23314f50edc.jpg
  18. Nice buy. I have no desire for a mustang myself, but there's no denying that's a great car.
  19. Don't see any pics, but glad to see that you found one! It doesn't look like those heads are to bad to get to for dohc? I'm in the middle of head gaskets on the 4runner, and the pile of parts to get it to this point is ridiculous: http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/10/d683aabd8dfe3bc40d017f2e335bfe9c.jpg
  20. I was also going to suggest rubber hose expansion.
  21. Yeah, how much of this kit would be usable for a modern fi engine?
  22. This: http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/19/ca2ba77f651da7e9bf5ab931b8777756.jpg
  23. Prob a filter, should have it. Could move it if so.
