  1. Nevermind on any of the help requested.

Someone (I assume a drunk driver) ran me off the road about 2 hours ago and sped away. Cars is fuuuuucked. Frame is straight. Suspension looks Ok. Everything runs fine.

But the bumper, hood, fender, headlight, etc. are done for.

I'll get a better look in the morning.

Unfortunately, I can't cancel/return the coilover order, but at least I can hang on to all of it as motivation to get the car back together.

    Wish me luck.

  2. Thanks, guys!

Awesome, so now that I know Lucore does alignments (PM to get price), I'd definitely appreciate the help getting it all on. How far away from y'all is Lucore's? I ask because I don't exactly want to drive on a poor alignment very far to get to an alignment place, and I don't want to drop $$$ on having the car towed.

I should message Grant about the alignment.

    EDIT:

which sponsor is Lucore??? 99StockGT right?

  3. Hey all,

I haven't been too active recently, but I just picked up (ordered) a new set of Coilovers (BC Racing BR + Swift, NON-Mega Drop), HKS sway bars, and some new toe rods and trac rods from FIGS.

Being that I'm a college student, I'm not too set on money, and would clearly prefer to do this myself/with help to avoid shop costs. But also, being that I'm an out-of-state-er here at Otterbein I don't have a home garage here in Ohio.

    The question is this.

Is there anyone on here that wouldn't mind helping me out? Just a day or two in a shop to get everything installed, and someone who knows their way around an alignment to get it aligned properly. I can pay a little for the time/alignment, just name a price, and whether it's money or a six-pack, etc.

If there's no one available, I understand, but if anyone could point me in the right direction of a local shop around here that would do the work cheap, but not botch the alignment like most shops do, that would work as well.

    Thanks, Everyone,

    *Car in question is a 2001 IS300

  4. I personally love CC&C at Cup o' Joe.

The other CC&C's around had a LOT of egotistical people, who were more interested in putting people with less expensive - or less powerful - cars down, whereas at CoJ, it has always been friendly and inviting.

The grassroots feel is amazing, however that isn't to say events, clothing, etc. wouldn't be cool.

The only stipulation would be that events would still be the way the meet is: Free

Speaking of time, a little later in the day would be nice, but the morning atmosphere is great, since the lot is usually pretty empty, and allows us to park wherever we want. As an avid Friday-night-enthusiast, it can be difficult, but not necessarily unmanageable.

Also, I understand it's winter, but the scene dies a lot over the season, some sort of incentive (ie. Free coffee) would help keep it in full swing year round, even if people are showing up in winter beaters.

  5. My 3 biggest gripes.

    1) Rey learns pretty advanced Jedi techniques in 15 minutes. Luke, master Jedi, took YEARS to learn to force pull his lightsaber, or his father before him who learned Jedi Mind tricks through probing the mind with the force.Yes, Kylo interacted with Rey using the force, however other Jedi, whom were placed in similar situations WITH years of training, took way longer.

The fact that Rey is suddenly amazing bothers me. I want her to have the same epic story of training and true growth in her force powers instead of "boom, here I am."

    2) Too many "In" jokes. Too many, "you had to be there, man," jokes referring to the original trilogy. One or two is ok... but it's constant.

    3) Character backstory and individuality as a film (in my opinion) sucked. All the other films, while possibly bare bones, provide complete and diverse characters, with room to grow, whereas E:VII seems basic, and that they are relying on future films to tell more, instead of building a solid base and building from it. This one is hard to word for me.

All in all, I thought it was a great film, however I don't think it was a great Star Wars.

  6. Sportlines are hard to come by these days that are not beat to crap. Having the LSD is also pretty rare too. Where did you live in Milwaukee? I visit Waukesha quite often.

I actually lived a touch north of Milwaukee in Port Washington, though I spent most of my time in Milwaukee.

But yeah, I'm glad it was a decent find. 01 LSD is not common at all. :D

  7. EDIT: Wrote this before the above response was posted, certain options may be void now)

My vote would go to either

An oldschool S30 (240/260/280z) Nissan w/ LS swap,

    Or

E30 coupe w/ M60/M62 swap. That would be gnarly. (v8) or an S50/S52 if you really want L6)

If you want an older style car, those are my votes. Gorgeous cars with huge amounts of information, as well as a lot of the above swaps documented.

If you're looking for something newer,

    RX8 w/ LS swap

    SC300 w/ Soarer 2.5GT (1JZGTE+R154) swap (turbo L6)

Scion FR-S w/ 1/2JZ GTE swap (or basic bolt ons... but a JZ would be great in the platform, and would fit the turbo 6)

Maybe an Audi A/S5 would fancy you? (available in V6/V8)

If you're in the mood for a sedan, my votes would go towards

Lexus IS-F with bolt ons (V8)

    Bugeye/Blobeye/Hawkeye STi (H4)

    B7+ S4 (B7=V8, B8=V6)

There's a LOT of great options out there for your price range.

  8. Welcome! I think we may have talked to each other at Cars and Coffee. We ate lunch with Doc at that street food style restaurant. Hope to see you at Cars and Coffee again.

    Definitely, man.

    Glad you joined up.

    @PDQS4

I actually saw that, but then thought about the idea of an LS IS and thought I'd rather keep the 2JZ.

    Anyways,

I was looking around my car today and made a pleasant discovery.

When purchasing the car, I was under the impression that it had a non-lsd rear, considering it was a year-one A/T.

However, this is not the case.

I checked the door sticker out of boredom, and noticed under A/TM, it had the code B02C.. An LSD code, the M98 sportline code to be exact.

I quickly got under the back, and sure enough, the sticker was still there in it's pocket "M98," clear as day.

Eventually I'll make a build thread once I actually have parts to qualify it as a build, not just a front lip and some window visors.

  9. Welcome. I'm in Westerville often. I'll keep an eye out for your car.

Sounds good! I think I've seen your Black FD rolling around town before, but never had a chance to ask any questions.

Welcome! I had a GGP 04 IS300 and really enjoyed the car. It was an auto though so never got to experience the stick. We had a IS get together a couple years back and I got to ride in a SRT turbo car and it was stupid fast (Nothing like Anthony's LS IS300 though).

Good luck with the mods and making it a 4 door Supra.

Thanks, man. Hopefully we'll reach 4 door Supra eventually

Welcome aboard! CR has a pretty solid showing at Cars and Coffee every weekend though I think many of our ilk slept in this past weekend despite the amazing weather ;) Short bearded dude here usually in a Lucore Automotive shirt feel free to say Hi!

And the world needs more nice IS back on the road.

I will definitely keep an eye out!

Welcome to the site. I think you'll find the scene in Columbus more than suitable compared to Wisconsin. I currently live on the lake an hour north of Milwaukee. Not a whole lot here as far as the car scene goes. Good luck with the car

I always found the car scene in southern Milwaukee and then further west to be decent, but with how attendance was this summer at Cars and Coffee, I can definitely tell there's a larger, more passionate group of enthusiasts here. I'm just really surprised the Mid-Ohio Car pages are so much less populated than the WCEC page. But thank you!

When it comes time for you to do that, feel free to shoot me a message if you decide to build your own system. I build turbo manifolds and do welding/fabrication of turbo systems for a living. You can view some of my stuff at http://www.bpautosports.net. No shameless plug intended haha.

Thank you, it's finally nearing completion after a huge rebuild over the past year or so. I need to update my build thread sometime.

It's only shameless if it doesn't work ;)

But I will most definitely let you know, especially if it prices better than a prepack kit.

Solid on the MkIV, I hope to see it someday!

  10. Thanks for the welcome, Doc!

And thank you again to the others who have as well, I appreciate it.

Oh, and Paul, I'm a guy.

Lastly, I would love to make the holiday party, but unfortunately I may be unable to make it due to some scheduling issues, and, as much as it bruises my pride, possible monetary issues as well, due to some events as of late, but I will still be trying to make it work.

  11. Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.

Don't worry about the thick skin, I frequent a lot of forums where civilization is all but lost and written language seems revolutionary ;)

    @Rymer

I agree, though it is worth mentioning the stock Auto can handle about 50-100 more horses than the W55 manual alternative, which was quite surprising to me, but thanks for the good luck, for sure.

Anyways, thanks again, guys, looking forward to this.

  12. Hey all,

My name is Triston, and I own an '01 MSM IS300. I'm relatively new to the state, being that I simply attend school here, but I originally hail from Wisconsin. I've got big plans, but being so far from home (and working a relatively low wage job on campus) brings its own challenges, mainly finding tools to use, and a place to use them, as my home garage is back in the Motherland, and my cash comes and goes like the tides.

Really, I'm just looking for a solid group to ride, tune, and compete with (when the time arises/the car is worthy of it).

Anyways, thanks, Doc for the reference and letting me know about this place.

For those interested, here's my bone stock IS300 I picked up mid summer. Progress has been real slow, but should be made much faster in the next couple months since I just wrapped up the cost of rust repair, and the rest of my initial maintenance costs.
