  1. No, I can't argue with math, but I highly doubt in the full compliment of gear, the pilot can tell who was on what bike...

Damn good find Pedro... I actually read that article about a year ago. Good on you to find it again

No problem man. I read it a while ago too and it is pretty informative.

  2. Most Air traffic citations use visual cues from my understanding. In PA they use lines on the highway measured at an exact interval, then average speed has to apply.

This is why some states toll booths can issue tickets. You travel 100 miles and your time elapsed is 1 hour... that indicates that at SOME point in the trip you HAD to be traveling faster that 100 MPH.... now you could have been doing 200 MPH and then stopped for a half hour... but either way it's enough for anyone with an accurate time and distance to determine at SOME point you crossed the threshold.

I forget which math law this is... I learned it in Calc as a part of orbitals or some shit... but I can't remember what it's called.

Correct, that is how they do it in Ohio. They take a one mile stretch of road and divide it into four sections and use a stop watch to see how long it takes you to cross each section. I would assume they would have a good argument as far as the trooper not having the exact speed of all of them because I doubt the pilot is working sixteen stop watches at the same time, especially when they said cars were pulled over at the same time. According to the article 97% of the people caught by air just pay the ticket so it wouldn't surprise me if the cop is banking on that.

  3. front page bump :) would like to have a couple more people solid for the hotel by thursday. they want an agreement that we'll have at least 10 rooms by the end of this week.

So at this point are we supposed to call them and mention OR to get the discount or are we waiting on ten people and then calling?

  4. ^ so if it's a passing free-for-all, won't the slowest riders always end up in the back, regardless of where they start?

My point was really about the ego involved in someone 'deciding' who should be up front, and how you define "faster and more experienced." If rider A has ridden the route 1,000 times, that gives him experience. If rider B has an expert WERA license, that makes him fast. I'm going to guess we probably get more people with rider A's experience.

shit, where's QuickZX9R when you need him?

Say his name three times just like CandyMan and he will appear....:) He might just have some chicken wings for you too...

  5. OK, everyone can pay for their own room by calling sheraton and paying before June 30 BUT you need to let me know so I can add you to the list. They won't let anyone just call and say they are with OR and get the rate.

I'll get in on the hotel room. Pedro's the name

  6. The family could still pursue a wrongful death case. A grand jury determines if the state can bring CRIMINAL charges. the family's wrongful death suit would be a civil matter, so it won't matter what the grand jury thinks.

I'd wager that the prosecution is putting this in front of a grand jury so they can't be accused of being racists (assuming the victim was black).

There IS a legitimate and gross inequity in the charge and conviction rate when a deadly encounter involves people of different races. In this case, the prosecution will be able to say, "we tried to charge the white guy of killing the black guy, but the grand jury said no."

and as a point of clarity, there is a HUGE distinction between "let's not pursue ________ charges," and deeming it a "justified shooting."

In Ohio I was under the impression with the new castle doctrine legislation that if a shooting was justified you had civil immunity as well. Is that not the case anymore?
